1. NITI Aayog Report: Hand & Power Tools Sector
- Report title: Unlocking $25+ Billion Export Potential – India’s Hand & Power Tools Sector.
- Global tools market: $100B (to reach $190B by 2035).
- Hand tools: $34B → $60B; Power tools: $63B → $134B.
- China leads exports: 50% hand tools, 40% power tools.
- India exports: $600M (hand tools, 1.8%), $470M (power tools, 0.7%).
- Target: $25B exports in 10 years → 35 lakh jobs.
- Challenges: 14–17% cost disadvantage vs. China due to raw material costs, low productivity.
2. Haryana Vidhan Sabha: International Study Tour
- First study tour hosted by Haryana Vidhan Sabha.
- 27 delegates from 13 countries visited on 16 April.
- Countries include: Côte d’Ivoire, Ecuador, Maldives, Sri Lanka, Nigeria, etc.
3. Telangana: Green Energy Goals
- Target: 20,000 MW green energy by 2030, 40,000 MW by 2035.
- MoUs worth ₹29,000 crore signed.
- GPRS Arya: ₹2,000 Cr for compressed biogas in 15 districts.
- Ecorace Energy: ₹27,000 Cr for 5,600 MW green energy.
- Indira Giri Jalavikasam: ₹12,600 Cr for solar pumps for 2.1 lakh tribal farmers.
4. ATM in Mumbai-Manmad Panchvati Express
- First ATM installed on Indian train by Central Railway.
- Joint initiative with Bank of Maharashtra.
- Installed under NINFRIS scheme for Non-Fare Revenue.
- Aimed to benefit senior citizens and general passengers.
5. Amravati Airport Inaugurated
- Inaugurated by Maharashtra CM on 16 April.
- Amravati–Mumbai flight flagged off under UDAN scheme.
- Flying Training Organization (FTO) to train 180 pilots/year, largest in SE Asia.
- India added 86 airports in last 10 years.
6. MP’s Ladli Behna Yojana Continues
- No interruption in the scheme.
- Payment: ₹1,250/month between 10–15th every month.
- April installment: ₹1,552 Cr.
- Beneficiaries: 1.27 Cr women.
- Launched in 2023 to empower women.
7. IGI Airport Ranked 9th Busiest Globally (2024)
- Served 77.8 million passengers in 2024.
- Growth: +7.8% (YoY), +13.6% (vs. 2019).
- ACI ranking: Based on total passengers.
- 1st: Atlanta, 2nd: Dubai, 3rd: Dallas.
8. Telangana: Heatwaves Declared State Disaster
- Heatwaves, sunstrokes, sunburns now “State-Specific Disasters.”
- Compensation: ₹4 lakh (up from ₹50,000).
- 28/33 districts had >15 heatwave days in 2023.
- Up to 10% of SDRF can be used for heatwave relief.
9. Nepal Seizes Shaligram Stones
- 894 kg of Shaligram stones seized in Mustang.
- Illegal transport to Jomsom.
- Shaligrams: Fossilized ammonites, sacred to Hindus (Lord Vishnu).
- Found in Kali Gandaki River, protected by law.
10. WHO Global Pandemic Agreement
- After 3+ years of talks, draft ready.
- Focus: Tech sharing, licensing, financing, One Health approach.
- Article 11: Controversial—tech transfer to developing countries.
- Draft to be discussed in upcoming World Health Assembly.
