• Given by WCPA (World Commission on Protected Areas), part of IUCN.
• Established in 2006, awarded biennially.

1. Para Powerlifting

• Joby Mathewwon bronze in 65 kg Masters category at 2025 Para Powerlifting World Championships, Cairo.
• Lifted a total of 300 kg(148 kg + 152 kg) – personal best.
• Previous record: 150 kgat Beijing World Cup 2025.
• This is his second World Championship medalafter Dubai 2023.
• Gold: Thailand’s Phongsakon Chumchai(162 kg),
  Silver: Peru’s Neil Gracia (161 kg).

2. Commonwealth Games 2030

• Ahmedabad, Gujaratrecommended to host 2030 Commonwealth Games.
• Final approval to be made at Commonwealth General Assembly.
• Proposal by  of India, Gujarat Govt., and Commonwealth Games Association of India.
• PT Usha emphasized sustainability, innovation, inclusivity.

3. Women’s Football

• Manipurwon 30th Senior Women’s National Football Championship (Rajmata Jijabai Trophy).
• Defeated West Bengal1–0 in final at Narainpur, Chhattisgarh.
• Lynda Kom Sertoscored in 93rd minute.
• Manipur’s 23rd title; remained undefeated.
• First held in 1992in Manipur.

• On 15 October, MoD signed ₹47 crorecontract for Night Sight (Image Intensifier) for 7.62 x 51 mm SIG 716 assault rifles.
• Enables targeting up to 500 meven in starlit conditions.
• Contract under Buy (Indian-IDDM)category; >51% indigenous content.

1. Extradition Conference

• Two-day conference on ‘Extradition of Fugitives: Challenges and Strategies’began on 16 October in New Delhi.
• Inaugurated by Home Minister Amit Shah, organized by CBI.

• Focus: extradition strategies, tech use, international cooperation.

2. International Railway Equipment Exhibition (IREE) 2025

• Naxal-affected districtsreduced from 6 to 3 – Bijapur, Sukma, Narayanpur (all in Chhattisgarh).

1. Pankaj Dheer (68)

• Passed away on 15 October(cancer).
• Known for roles: Karna in Mahabharat (1988), Shivdutt in Chandrakanta (1994–96).

• Started career in 1980s; born in Punjab.

2. Raavu Balasaraswathi Devi (97)

• First Telugu playback singer; debuted in ‘Bhagya Lakshmi’ (1943).
