1. Virat Kohli creates IPL history

• First player to hit 1000 boundariesin IPL (721 fours, 279 sixes).
• Most fours in IPL history.
• 3rd in sixes after Chris Gayle (357)and Rohit Sharma (282).
• Has 99 IPL half-centuries– 1 short of David Warner’s T20 record (100).
• IPL 2025 is the 18th edition, held from March 22 – May 25, with 10 teams, 74 matches.

2. Kathak legend Kumudini Lakhia passes away

• Died on 12 April 2025at age 95 in Ahmedabad.
• Founded Kadamba School of Dance and Music(1967).
• Choreographed for Umrao Jaan (1981).

3. India-Africa Maritime Exercise – AIKEYME

• Hosted by Tanzania, from 13–18 April 2025.
• First edition of AIKEYME– means ‘Unity’ in Sanskrit.
• Participants: India, Tanzania, + 7 African nations (e.g., Kenya, South Africa).
• Indian ships: INS Chennai& INS Kesari.
• Focus: Anti-piracy ops, info sharing, maritime cooperation.

4. Central Research Lab inaugurated at AIIMS Bhubaneswar

• Inaugurated by Health Minister J.P. Naddaon 12 April 2025.
• Also laid foundation for Multiutility (Gastronomy) Block.
• Aims: Advanced research, healthcare innovation.
• New AIIMS websitelaunched for digital healthcare services.

5. Justice Arun Palli appointed CJ of J&K and Ladakh High Court

• Appointed Chief Justice by President of India.
• Currently judge at Punjab & Haryana High Court.
• Designated Senior Advocate in 2007, Judge since 2013.
• Executive Chairman of Haryana State Legal Services Authority (since May 2023).
• Governing Body Member of NALSA(since Oct 2023).

6. India tests high-powered laser weapon

• DRDO successfully tested 30-kW Laser Directed Energy Weapon (DEW MK-IIA).
• Test site: Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh.
• Destroyed fixed-wing UAVs & swarm drones.
• India joins elite group: USA, China, Russia.
• DRDO also working on microwaveand EMP weapons.
