1) India became pioneer lead country for IMO Green Voyage2050 Project

  • International Maritime Organization Green Voyage2050 Projecthas the objective to assist developing countries in their efforts to reduce Green House Gas emissions from ships.
  • This information about India getting selected as lead country was given by the Union Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways.
  • The GoI has implemented all MARPOL regulations about carbon emissions on Indian Ships.

 

2) Indian Army conducted Table-top Exercise for Asean Women Peacekeepers

  • The exercise was conducted for the women officers of Association of South-East Asian Nations at Manekshaw Centre in New Delhi.
  • This exercise aligns with the Centre for UN Peacekeeping’s efforts to empower women in peace missions, showcasing India’s commitment to global peace and gender equality.
  • It provided exposure to peacekeeping challenges and responses, a glimpse of India’s culture.

 

3) EKI Energy partnered with Indian Oil to promote solar cooking

  • EKI Energy Servicesand Indian Oil Corporation collaborated to promote ‘Surya Nutan’, a sustainable indoor solar cooking system.
  • IndianOil will share Surya Nutan’s technology with EKI Energy for production enhancement.
  • EKI will manage Surya Nutan’s end-to-end, including manufacturing, marketing, installation, and after-sales services, contributing to environmental sustainability.

 

4) Intl Day of Commemoration of the Victims of Crime of Genocide: 9th Dec

  • Themefor 2023: “A Living Force in World Society: The Legacy of the 1948 Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide.”
  • By UN General Assembly Resolution A/RES/69/323 of September 2015, 9th December became the International Day of Commemoration and Dignity of the Victims of the Crime of Genocide and of the Prevention of this Crime.

 

5) MoD, Telecommunication Consultant India Ltd inks MoU for digital infra

  • Ministry of Defenceinked contract worth Rs 588.68 Cr with Telecommunications Consultants India Limited for “Digital Coast Guard project.”
  • A pivotal Initiative for theIndian Coast Guard, the DCG Project will unfold a comprehensive narrative of technological progression, encompassing the construction of an advanced Data Centre, and the establishment of a robust Disaster Recovery Data Centre.

 

6) 39th SAARC Charter Day – 8th December, 2023

  • The39th South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation Charter Day was observed on the 8th of December 2023 to commemorate the signing of the SAARC Charter on the 8th of December in
  • It was signed by the leaders of the Seven South Asian Countries – Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka.
  • SAARC was joined by Afghanistan as a Member in April, 2007.

 

7) Shri Pu. Lalduhoma took oath as the Chief Minister of Mizoram

  • PM Modi has congratulated Shri Pu. Lalduhoma on taking oath as the Chief Minister of Mizoram.
  • Lalduhoma is an Indian politician and a former Indian Police Service officer who is serving as the 6th Chief Minister of Mizoram.
  • Resigning from the security service to the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, he was elected as Member of Parliament to the Lok Sabha from Mizoram in 1984.

 

8) PM Modi adressed financial technology event “Infinity Forum 2.0”

  • PM Narendra Modi participated in the 2nd Edition of the Financial Technology event –Infinity Forum 2.0, hosted by IFSCA and GIFT City.
  • The forum is a prelude to Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2024.
  • The theme is ‘GIFT-IFSC: Nerve Centre for New Age Global Financial Services‘.
  • Key speakers including Piyush Goyal and Bhupendra Patel from the Indian government participated in this event.

 

9) Ministry of Tourism to hold music fest Krishnaveni Sangetha Neerajanam

  • The Ministry of Tourismwith Ministry of CultureSangeet Natak Akademi and State Government of Andhra Pradesh will organise Krishnaveni Sangeetha Neerajanam at Vijayawada on the banks of River Krishna.
  • It will be held in the auspicious month of Karthika from 10th – 12th December, 2023.
  • Classical music traditions, regional cuisine, local handicrafts and handlooms will be highlighted.

 

10) Union Bank of India, Accenture joined hands for technical development

  • Union Bank of India collaborated with Accenture to develop a scalable data lake platform to enhance efficiency and customer services using predictive analytics and AI.
  • This platform will enable the bank to make data-driven decisions, leading to operational agility and value creation.
  • Accenture will help build new AI and machine learning models for better business forecasting.

 

11) International Anti-Corruption Day – 9th December

  • Themefor 2023: “The UN Convention against Corruption at 20: Uniting the World against Corruption
  • The 2023 International Anti-Corruption Day emphasizes the universal role in combating corruption, marking the 20th anniversary of the UN Convention Against Corruption.
  • The Convention, adopted in 2003, has nearly universal recognition, highlighting the global commitment to good governance.

 

12) India ranked 7th in Climate Change Performance Index 2023

  • India ranked 7th in this year’s Climate Change Performance Index, up one spot from the previous one, and also remained among the highest performers.
  • The report was released during COP28 summit.
  • India has received a high ranking in the greenhouse gas emissions and Energy Use categories, but a medium in Climate Policy and Renewable Energy, as in the previous year.

 

13) RBI cancelled licence of U.P.’s Urban Co-op Bank Ltd.

  • The Reserve Bank of India cancelled the licence of “Urban Co-operative Bank Ltd, Sitapur, Uttar Pradesh.”
  • The bank had no adequate capital and earning prospects as well as failed to comply with the provisions of the Banking Act.
  • Urban Co-operative Bank Ltd. Sitapur, UP is prohibited from conducting the business of ‘banking’ which includes acceptance of deposits, repayment of deposits etc.
