1) ESAF Bank launches ‘rainbow account’ for transgender community

  • ESAF Small Finance Bank Ltd launched a ‘Rainbow Savings Account’ exclusively for the transgender community.
  • The ‘Rainbow Savings Account’ scheme comes with a high-interest rate and advanced debit card facilities.
  • The Reserve Bank of India in 2015 directed banks to include a separate column ‘third gender’ in all their forms and applications.

2) PM Modi virtually addresses Plenary Session of Eastern Economic Forum

  • PM Modi addressed the Plenary Session of 7th Eastern Economic Forum being held in Vladivostok through video conferencing, in September 2022.
  • He informed that in September 2022, thirty years are being completed since the establishment of the Consulate of India in Vladivostok.
  • India was the first country to open a consulate in this city.

 

3) PM Modi to inaugurate Kartavya Path on September 8

  • PM Modi will inaugurate the Kartavya Path on 8 September 2022.
  • He will also unveil the statue of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose at India Gate on the occasion.
  • These steps are in line with Prime Minister’s second Panch Pran for New India in Amrit Kaal.
  • The statue of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose is being installed in the same place where a hologram statue was unveiled on Parakram Diwas 23 Jan.

  • UN member states observe this day by holding events around the world on the effects of air pollution.

8) Agnikul Cosmos secures first patent for 3D-printed rocket engine

  • Agnikul Cosmos, one of India’s private space startups, has secured its first patent for the design and manufacturing of its 3D-printed rocket engine.
  • The patent has been rewarded to the company for its Agnilet rocket engine, which will power the company’s Agnibaan rocket which is scheduled to launch in late 2022.

9) International Literacy Day: 8 September

  • International Literacy Day is observed on the 8th of September every year.
  • It is observed to make people aware of the meaning and importance of literacy for individuals and societies.

  • UNESCO established this Day in 1966 & it was first celebrated on 8 September 1967.

10) IDBI Bank re-appoints S Jebaraj as deputy MD for 3 years

  • IDBI Bank’s board of directors has approved re-appointing Samuel Joseph Jebaraj as deputy managing director for three years with effect from September 20.
  • Currently, Government holds 45.48 per cent stake in IDBI bank, and Life Insurance Corp of India, which is currently the promoter of the bank, owns a 49.24 per cent stake.

11) India-Japan ‘2+2 Ministerial Dialogue’ to be held in Tokyo on Sept 8

  • Defence Minister Rajnath Singh along with EAM Dr S Jaishankar will participate in the 2nd India-Japan ‘2+2 Ministerial Dialogue’ in Tokyo on 8 September 2022.
  • The Japanese side will be represented by Yasukazu Hamada and Yoshimasa Hayashi.
  • This Dialogue will review the bilateral cooperation across domains.
  • The year 2022 also marks 70 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

 

12) Nitin Gadkari to inaugurate conference ‘Manthan’ on September 8

  • Union Minister Nitin Gadkari will inaugurate a three-day conference called ‘Manthan’ in Bengaluru on 8 September 2022.
  • Organised by: Ministry of Road Transport and Highways
  • It aims at anchoring discussions across multiple issues and opportunities in the roads, transport & logistics sector.
  • Theme: ‘Ideas to Action’: Towards a smart, sustainable, road infra, mobility and logistics ecosystem.

 

13) Mastercard replaces Paytm as BCCI title sponsor for 2022-23 season

  • American financial company Mastercard has replaced Paytm as the title sponsor of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
  • With this, Mastercard will be the title sponsor for all international matches (both women & men) scheduled in India.
  • It also covers domestic matches like Irani Trophy, Duleep Trophy, & Ranji Trophy.
  • Paytm held the rights for 7 years as the title sponsor of BCCI.

 

14) Three Indian cities join UNESCO Global Network of Learning Cities

  • Telangana’s Warangal along with Kerala’s Nilambur and Thrissur has joined the UNESCO Global Network of Learning Cities (GNLC).
  • These cities have been recognized for their outstanding efforts to make lifelong learning a reality for all at the local level.
  • The UNESCO GNLC is an international network consisting of 294 cities that successfully promote lifelong learning across their communities.
