1) Lok Sabha passes Pharmacy (Amendment) Bill, 2023
- The Lok Sabha passed the Pharmacy (Amendment) Bill, 2023 on Monday.
- The bill aims to remove ambiguity regarding the status of pharmacists registered under different acts.
- Anyone registered under the Jammu and Kashmir Pharmacy Act, 2011 will be deemed registered under the Pharmacy Act, 1948.
- The bill was passed by voice vote in the Lower House.
2) HP govt renames Handicraft & Handloom Corporation as Himcraft
- The Himachal Pradesh State Handicraft and Handloom Corporation Limited will be renamed as “Himcraft Corporation”.
- The announcement was made by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu during the 9th National Handloom Day function in Shimla.
- An exhibition on the Ridge and a fashion show in Gaiety Theater were also organized during the event.
3) Himachal Pradesh hosts ‘Mapping Tibet’ exhibition
- An exhibition titled ‘Mapping Tibet’ has begun at the Tibet Museum in Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh.
- The exhibition features 42 maps showcasing the historic boundaries of Tibet since the 17th century.
- The mapping of Tibet according to the modern cartography system was mostly published by either Westerners or Chinese until the Shimla Convention of 1914.
4) UP govt build guest houses in Prayagraj, Ayodhya, Bengaluru and Delhi
- Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has instructed the establishment of new guest houses in Bengaluru, Delhi, Ayodhya and Prayagraj.
- The Chief Minister directed officials to expedite the completion of the under-construction ‘Gomti’, the very special guest house located on Vikramaditya Marg in Lucknow.
- CM also advised officials to take the services of field experts in this regard.
5) Indian-origin Vaibhav Taneja becomes new Tesla Chief Financial Officer
- Vaibhav Taneja has been appointed as the new Chief Financial Officer of Tesla.
- He succeeds Zachary Kirkhorn, who has left the position after 13 years with the company.
- Taneja joined the company in 2016.
- He became the Assistant Corporate Controller in February 2017 and was promoted to Corporate Controller in 2018.
- In 2019, Taneja became the Chief Accounting Officer (CAO) of Tesla.
6) 5.33 crore subscribers enrolled under Atal Pension Yojana
- The union govt has announced that 5.33 crore subscribers have so far enrolled in Atal Pension Yojana (APY).
- Atal Pension Yojana (APY) was launched on May 9, 2015, and was operationalised from June 1, 2015.
- The minimum age of joining the APY is 18 years and the maximum age is 40 years.
- As per the scheme, subscribers will receive pension benefits upon attaining the age of 60 years.
7) Jayesh Saini receives Global Leader Award 2023
- Jayesh Saini was awarded Global Leader Award 2023 for Healthcare Expansion in Africa.
- LifeCare Group, led by Jayesh Saini, has expanded healthcare services across East Africa with hospitals in five major parts of Kenya and plans for 10 more in different regions of Africa.
- The group aims to commission an advanced nursing training institute in 2024.
8) Lok Sabha passes Digital Personal Data Protection Bill, 2023
- The Lok Sabha has passed the Digital Personal Data Protection Bill 2023 to protect the rights of individuals.
- The bill proposes a maximum penalty of Rs 250 crore and a minimum of Rs 50 crore on entities violating the norms.
- The bill provides for the processing of digital personal data in a manner that recognizes the right of individuals to protect their personal data.
9) MP govt to set up SDOP office to control Naxal activities in Dindori
- A new Sub-Divisional Officer of Police (SDOP) office is being set up in the Bajag areas of the Dindori district for effective control over Naxal activities by Madhya Pradesh govt.
- The headquarters of the SDOP will be in Bajag and Naxalite sensitive police stations Bajag, Samnapur and Karanjia will be included under it.
- It will provide necessary guidance and cooperation to police officers.
10) Guyana to buy Indian Dorniers Aircrafts manufactured by HAL
- Guyana to the purchase of two Dornier 228 aircraft from Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL).
- Guyana is collaborating with India on cybersecurity and IT operations.
- It is interested in purchasing patrol vessels, armoured vehicles, and radar systems from India.
- India and Guyana will improve military-to-military contacts through personnel training.
11) Telangana Assembly passes TSRTC merger Bill 2023
- The Telangana State Legislative Assembly has passed the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation Bill 2023 for the merger of the TSRTC in the State govt.
- The employees would be absorbed into public services as government employees.
- The Corporation would continue to operate under the administrative control of the Transport dept, with the Vice-Chairman and Managing Director as its head.
12) Gujarat Govt implement One District One Product (ODOP) scheme
- Government of Gujarat has implemented the One District One Product (ODOP) scheme with a grant of 58 crores rupees to promote its indigenous products.
- Under this scheme, more than 25 handicraft products have been selected from 21 districts of the state.
- The objective is to focus on the District of the country by identifying products with export potential in the district.
13) Lok Sabha passes Coastal Aquaculture Authority (Amendment) Bill, 2023
- The Lok Sabha passed the Coastal Aquaculture Authority (Amendment) Bill 2023.
- The Bill amends the Coastal Aquaculture Authority Act, of 2005.
- The amendments decriminalize certain offences to promote ease of doing business.
- The Bill was brought in April 2023 and was later sent to the Standing Committee.
- After consultation, 56 suggestions were received from the Standing Committee.
