1) Namami Gange Signs Agreement for Development of Sewage Treatment
- The Agreement was signed between National Mission for Clean Ganga, Uttar Pradesh Jal Nigam and Meerut STP Pvt. Ltd. for development of Sewage Treatment Plant in Meerut.
- It was signed in the presence of Director General, NMCG in New Delhi.
- The project, under Hybrid Annuity PPP mode, was awarded at the total cost of Rs. 369.74 crores and is scheduled to be completed by December, 2025.
2) Indian men’s team finishes with bronze medal at Asian TTC
- Indian men’s team finished with a bronze medal at the Asian Table Tennis Championships 2023
- The Indian team comprising Sharath Kamal, Harmeet Desai, and Sathiyan Gnanasekaran lost 0-3 in their final four matches
- The two losing semi-finalists are awarded bronze medals at the competition
- The Asian Table Tennis Championships 2023 was also a qualifier for the Paris 2024 Olympics.
3) INS Sumedha participates in ‘Exercise Bright Star-23’ in Egypt
- INS Sumedha arrived at Port Alexandria, Egypt, on September 6, to partake in ‘Exercise BRIGHT STAR-23.’
- This multinational Tri-Services military exercise marks a historic occasion, with 34 countries participating, making it the largest joint military exercise ever held in the Middle East and North Africa region.
- The exercise, Ex Bright Star 23, is meticulously planned in two phases.
4) One Sun, One World, One Grid” conference held in New Delhi
- In the run-up to the 18th G20 Summit, a one-day conference themed “Transnational Grid Interconnections for One Sun, One World, One Grid (OSOWOG)” convened in New Delhi.
- The conference, spearheaded by the Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID), a ‘Maharatna’ company under the Ministry of Power
- The conference featured a distinguished panel of experts.

- Global Fintech Awards (GFA) 2023, held annually as part of the Global Fintech Fest (GFF) 2023 in Mumbai, India
- The global award for ‘Leading Fintech Personality of the Year from the Gulf Cooperation Countries region was awarded to Adeeb Ahamed
- He is the Managing Director of the Abu Dhabi-based LuLu Financial Holdings
- Adeeb has been instrumental in revolutionizing cross-border payments
6) Anushka Sharma appointed as Brand Endorser by “W”
- India’s leading women’s fashion brand – W, on-boarded famous Bollywood actor and entrepreneur Anushka Sharma as its brand ambassador.
- With this partnership, the brand prepares to launch its high-decibel festive campaign that beautifully merges the warmth of festivities with the spirit of modernity.
7) Israeli researchers create synthetic embryos from stem cells
- In a groundbreaking development, scientists at the Weizmann Institute of Science successfully created complete synthetic models of human embryos using stem cells grown in a laboratory.
- The synthetic embryos were nurtured outside the womb and survived up to 14 days of development
8) Japan successfully launches XRISM research satellite
- Japan has successfully launched a rocket carrying a new research satellite to unravel the evolution of the universe and space-time
- The H2A rocket carrying the X-Ray Imaging and Spectroscopy Mission (XRISM) satellite and the Smart Lander for Investigating Moon (SLIM) was launched at the Tanegashima Space Center in Kagoshima
- Japan’s space agency is the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA)
9) The Vaccine War: first Indian movie to have song launch at Time Square
- Filmmaker Vivek Aghnihotri’s ‘The Vaccine War’ created history on Tuesday by becoming the first Indian movie to have a song launch at Times Square
- The film’s title song ‘Shristhi se pehele’, which comprised of Shlokas from Rigveda, describing the creation of the Universe was performed in the form of Kathak in New York.
- A pre-release of ‘The Vaccine War’ was hosted in New York to a full house
10) ICC, IndusInd to ink multi-year sponsorship deal
- IndusInd Bank has agreed to a multi-year sponsorship deal with the International Cricket Council (ICC), beginning with the men’s Cricket World Cup in India.
- The multi-year deal is valued at $20-$24 million (about Rs 160-200 crore
- Recently, Mastercard too became the top-tier sponsor for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023.
11) SBI announces introduction of UPI interoperability on CBDC
- The State Bank of India said it has implemented UPI interoperability in its digital rupee, called Central Bank Digital Currency
- The bank aims to deliver unprecedented convenience and accessibility to its customers
- It will be accessible through the ‘eRupee by SBI’ application will empower SBI CBDC users to effortlessly scan any merchant UPI QR code for swift and secure transactions
12) WB assembly passes resolution to observe April 15 as Bengal Day
- The West Bengal assembly passed a resolution to observe Bengali New Year’s Day, also known as Polia Baisakh, as the state’s foundation day on April 15.
- This comes after Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee asserted that the day will be observed regardless of the approval of the state’s governor.
13) Maharashtra State to set up a mango board in Konkan
- The Maharashtra state government has decided to establish a mango board in the Konkan region to support large-scale Hapus cultivation.
- The board will provide support in areas such as insurance, production enhancement, pest control, and research.
- Mango farmers have been demanding the establishment of a board for almost a decade.
14) India will open embassy in Timor Leste
- Prime Minister Narendra Modi 0 announced a decision to open an Indian embassy in Timor-Leste.
- PM Modi announced the decision while co-chairing the annual ASEAN-India summit in this Indonesian capital.
- Timor Leste joined the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) in 2022 as an Observer, before becoming its full member.
- This decision was warmly welcomed by Timor Leste.
15) U.K.’s second-largest city Birmingham declares itself bankrupt
- The local authorities running Britain’s second-largest city, Birmingham, have shifted focus on maintaining vital services as they declared the council effectively bankrupt.
- It was due to an annual budgetary shortfall of millions of pounds.
16) Australia, and China open first high-level dialogue in 3 years
- The dialogue being held in Beijing will focus on trade, people-to-people links, and security.
- During the freeze in relations with Beijing, Australia formed a nuclear partnership with the US and the United Kingdom that enabled Australia to access nuclear-powered submarines.
