1) France invites PM Modi for Bastille Day Parade in July 2023
- France has invited Prime Minister Narendra Modi to visit Paris as a guest at the annual Bastille Day parade on 14 July 2023.
- PM Narendra Modi and French President Emmanuel Macron are expected to discuss several major agreements including the Indo-Pacific region, nuclear power, and defense.
- Former PM Manmohan Singh was invited as the Bastille Day parade guest in 2009.
2) India-Sri Lanka maritime exercise SLINEX 2023 begins in Colombo
- The 10th Edition of the annual India – Sri Lanka Bilateral Maritime exercise SLINEX-2023 began in Colombo on the 3 April 2023.
- The exercise is being conducted in two phases of three days each, the harbor phase and the sea phase.
- The Indian Navy will be represented by INS Kiltan and INS Savitri, while the Sri Lankan Navy will be represented by SLNS Vijayabahu and SLNS Samudura.
3) Georgia becomes 1st US state to pass resolution condemning Hinduphobia
- The Georgia Assembly in the United States. of America (USA) on 2 April 2023, passed a resolution condemning Hinduphobia, making it the first American State to take such a legislative measure.
- Condemning Hinduphobia and anti-Hindu. bigotry, the resolution said Hinduism is one of the world’s largest and oldest religions with over 1.2 billion adherents in over 100 countries.
4) India, Netherlands hold 1st Ministerial-level meeting of JWG in Delhi
- India and the Netherlands, on 3 April 2023, held their first Ministerial-level meeting of the Joint Working Group (JWG) in New Delhi.
- The meeting was chiared by Union Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat.
- Both parties reviewed the progress of Indo-Dutch cooperation since the signing of the Strategic Water Partnership in March 2022.
5) International Day of Mine Awareness: 4 April
- The International Day for Mine Awareness and Assistance in Mine Action is observed on April 4 every year.
- The day aims to raise awareness about landmines, seek assistance for mine action work, and advance toward removing them.
- The theme of the year 2023 is “Mine Action Cannot Wait” to spread the spotlight on the contamination in Cambodia, Laos, and Vietnam.
6) World-famous ‘Basohli Painting’ from Jammu gets Gl tagging
- The world-famous Basohli painting from Jammu and Kashmir’s Kathua district obtained the Geographical Indication (GI) Tag on 3 April 2023.
- The GI tag to a product, goods or speciality grants legal protection to the original producers and prevents their unauthorised use by third parties.
- Basohli painting of Kathua is the first independent Gl tagged product from Jammu region.
7) The 1st India-Central Asia Culture Ministers’ meeting held on 3 April
- Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy virtually hosts the 1st India-Central Asia Culture Ministers’ Meet on 3 April 2023.
- The Culture Ministers of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan also participated in the meeting.
- The Ministers presented their perspective to take forward their leaders’ commitment to further strengthening cultural cooperation in the region.
8) Nagaland to host B20 Conferences in North East Region from 4 April
- Nagaland’s capital Kohima will host Business-20 (B20) Conferences in the North East Region from April 4-6, 2023.
- The conferences will be held in partnership with the Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) and North Eastern State governments for exploring partnerships among business communities.
- The B20 is the official G20 dialogue forum. representing the global business community.
