1) India-Australia sign Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement (ECTA)
- The Minister of Commerce and Industry Shri Piyush Goyal and Minister for Trade Mr Dan Tehan signed the India-Australia Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement on 02 April’22.
- The Agreement encompasses cooperation across the entire gamut of bilateral economic and commercial relations.
- ECTA provides an institutional mechanism to encourage and improve trade between the two countries.
2) PharmEasy appoints Aamir Khan as its brand ambassador
- PharmEasy, a consumer healthcare app has launched its latest campaign starring the Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan as its brand ambassador.
- As the face of the brand, he will also accentuate how medicines, diagnostic tests, and healthcare products are conveniently available at customers’ fingertips through the #Ghar BaitheBaitheTakeltEasy campaign.
- The brand is managed by API Holdings Limited.
3) Ergos launches “GrainBank Loyalty Cards for Farmers”
- The Tech platform ‘GrainBank’ (developed by Ergos) has launched GrainBank Loyalty Cards for Farmers on 01 April 22.
- This is the first time in India’s history that farmers have direct access to a cutting-edge technology platform ‘GrainBank’ for getting valuable information on their farm produces.
- Ergos is a Startup from Bihar and operates with a goal to serve over 2 million farmers.
4) HDFC Bank adjudged best performing bank in SHG linkage by NRLM
- HDFC Bank has been adjudged the Best Performing Bank in SHG Linkage by the National Rural Livelihood Mission NRLM on 01 April 2022.
- The award was presented by Giriraj Singh, Minister of Rural Development to K Venkatesh, Head Sustainable Livelihood Initiative, HDFC – Bank.
- Self Help Group (SHG) is a group lending model with a group of small-time women entrepreneurs coming together for a loan.
5) Pokhran: Indian Army carries out airborne drills
- Airborne drills were carried out by the Indian Army’s Airborne Rapid Response teams on 01 April 2022.
- The training drill was conducted at Pokaran to validate the Rapid Response capabilities along the Western Front.
- The Exercise included Combat Free Fall jumps with a Guided Precision Aerial Delivery System (GPADS).
6) SankalpTaru Foundation becomes 1st Indian NGO to Launch Blockchain
- SankalpTaru Foundation has become the First Indian NGO in Environmental Conservation Space to Launch Blockchain on 01 April 2022.
- It also helps to further enhance the trust of its I donors that offering them an additional handle to check the veracity of information.
- SankalpTaru is one of the largest Indian non-profits working on tree plantation activities across 25 states and UTs across India.
7) IAF’s Surya Kiran aerobatic team carries out flying display in Hyd
- Surya Kiran aerobatic team of the Indian Air Force (IAF) on 01 April 2022 carried out a flying display in Hyderabad.
- Surya Kiran’s aerobatic team, popularly known as the Ambassadors of the IAF, has the distinction of being among a handful of nine aircraft formation aerobatic teams in the world.
- They fly the Hawk Mk132 aircraft, license manufactured in India by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited.
8) President Kovind arrives in Turkmenistan on 3-day official visit
- President Ram Nath Kovind was accorded a ceremonial guard of honour on 01 April 2022 as he began his three-day state visit to Turkmenistan.
- He met his Turkmen counterpart Serdar Berdimuhamedov and discuss ways to boost bilateral ties with the resource-rich Central Asian country.
- This is the first-ever visit of the President of India to independent Turkmenistan.
9) Govt introduces ‘The Indian Antarctic Bill 2022’ in Lok Sabha
- Union Minister Jitendra Singh introduced ‘The Indian Antarctic Bill 2022’ in Lok Sabha on 01 April 2022.
- The Bill aims to provide a regulatory framework for India’s research activities in the Antarctic and protect the Antarctic ecosystem.
- There are 40 permanent research stations in Antarctica of which two Maitri and Bharati are Indian.

10) Lt Gen SS Mahal assumes charge of Army Training Command, Shimla
- Lieutenant General SS Mahal assumed charge of the Army Training Command (ARTRAC), Shimla on April 1.
- Former Lt. Gen. Raj Shukla was appointed as ARTRAC chief on 1 May 2020 and was granted the charge of looking after training aspects of the force.
- The Army Training Command (ARTRAC) came into being on 1 October 1991, at Mhow in Madhya Pradesh. It subsequently shifted to Shimla on Mar 31, 1993.
11) La’eeb Announced as Official Mascot for FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022
- FIFA has unveiled La’eeb as the official mascot for this year’s FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.
- La’eeb is an Arabic word meaning super-skilled player.
- The tournament will take place from November 21 to December 18, 2022.
- La’eeb will be known for his youthful spirit; spreading joy and confidence everywhere.
12) Karnataka Government set up Nandini Ksheera Samridhi Cooperative Bank
- Karnataka Government set up Nandini Ksheeral Samridhi Cooperative Bank on 01 april 2022.
- This is a special programme to establish their own bank which would provide greater financial aid for them and improve their economic condition.
- The State government provided Rs.100 crore as its share capital and the Milk Federation would contribute Rs.260 crore as their share of capital for the bank
13) FIDE hands over hosting rights to India for FIDE Chess Olympiad 2022
- International Chess Federation (FIDE) President Arkady Dvorkovich officially handed over the hosting rights to India for the organization of the FIDE Chess Olympiad 2022 on 01 april 2022.
- In 2022, India secured the bid to host FIDE Chess Olympiad 2022 in Chennai.
- The FIDE Chess Olympiad 2022 will take place from July 28, 2022, to August 14, 2022, in Chennai.
14) PM Modi, Nepal PM Deuba inaugurate cross-border train services, RuPay
- Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Nepalese counterpart Sher Bahadur Deuba on 02 april 2022 jointly inaugurated cross-border passenger train services, RuPay payment system in Nepal and signed several MoUs.
- The leaders also held a delegation-level meeting at Hyderabad House in Delhi.
- Four documents and MoUs were signed and exchanged between India and Nepal on railways and energy secotors.
