1) India Unveils Pavilion at Riyadh’s InFlavour Expo
- In a significant step towards strengthening bilateral trade ties between India and Saudi Arabia, Ambassador Dr. Suhel Khan officially opened the India Pavilion at the B2B Food Exhibition, held under the banner of InFlavourExpo in Riyadh.
- The India Pavilion at the InFlavourExpo showcased the participation of more than 20 Indian exhibitors.
2) Lionel Messi clinches record-extending eighth Ballon d’Or award
- 36-year-old clinched his eighth Ballon d’Or award, at the Theatre du Chatelet in Paris.
- Messi dedicated the trophy to late Argentina legend Diego Maradona.
- Messi is 36 and won his first Ballon d’Or in 2009.
- With eight, he is now three ahead of his old rival Cristiano Ronaldo, the next most decorated player in the award’s history.

3) Global Declaration for River Dolphins
- In a significant move to protect the world’s six surviving species of river dolphins, 11 Asian and South American countries have signed a groundbreaking Global Declaration for River Dolphins.
- The declaration’s aim is to halt the decline and bolster the most vulnerable river dolphin populations through collaborative efforts.
4) Brain activity much ‘richer’ when people talk in-person
- Brain activity in people engaged in online interactions, such as over Zoom, was substantially suppressed compared to that in people having face-to-face conversations, researchers have found.
- Our brains are finely tuned to process dynamic facial cues, which are a primary source of social information, during real in-person encounters, the researchers from Yale University said.
5) Ancient sea monster remains reveal oldest mega-predatory pliosaur
- Researchers have identified fossils of a 170-million-year-old ancient marine reptile as the oldest-known mega-predatory pliosaur (a group of ocean-dwelling reptiles).
- This pliosaur genus, named Lorrainosaurus, was found in northeastern France.
- Pliosaurs were a type of marine reptile that lived over 200 million years ago (during the early Middle Jurassic period).
6) AKTU, IIM-Indore ink pact to promote learning, innovation
- Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University signs MoU with IIM Indore to promote collaborative teaching, learning and innovation.
- AKTU will benefit from faculty development programs, short/long term courses, financial literacy programs, and internships for students.
- The MoU will also support the development of incubation centers and institutional social responsibility initiatives.
7) Sardar Patel Memorial Lecture: Former President Ram Nath Kovind Speech
- Akashvani will broadcast its annual edition of the Sardar Patel Memorial Lecture.
- Former President Ram Nath Kovind will deliver this year’s address.
- The lecture will be broadcast on the occasion of Sardar Patel’s birth anniversary.
- The birth anniversary of Sardar Patel is also known as the National Unity Day.
8) CM Yogi inaugurates South-West Asia’s largest beverage plant in Amethi
- Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inaugurated South West Asia’s largest beverage plant in Amethi.
- This plant will become a source of investment and employment in the region. Additionally, local ITI and polytechnic students will benefit from this initiative.
- The Plant has been set up by Vivek Ladhani of the Ladhani Group, which is the largest bottler of Coca-Cola in southwest Asia
9) Malayalam Actress Renjusha Menon, 35, Dies By Suicide
- Malayalam actress Renjusha Menon was found dead at her flat in Thiruvananthapuram.
- The actor, a native of Kochi, initially started her career as a TV show anchor before venturing into TV serials.
- She made her acting debut on the small screen with the serial ‘Sthree’ and went on to feature in other projects.
10) National Games: Jyothi Yarraji clinches 100m hurdles gold
- Hangzhou Asian Games silver medallist Jyothi Yarraji and Tejas Shirse smashed the National Games records on way to winning gold medals in 100m and 110m hurdles in athletics competitions.
- Priyanka Goswami of Uttar Pradesh has also set a new National Games record in the women’s 20km Race Walk with an impressive time of 1:36:35.
11) Researchers activate world’s tiniest coin-sized particle accelerator
- Researchers have activated the world’s smallest particle accelerator, known as a “nanophotonic electron accelerator” (NEA), which is approximately the size of a small coin.
- Particle accelerators: It is a device that accelerates charged particles, such as electrons or protons, to very high speeds and energies.
