1) WDRA commemorated its 17th Foundation Day on 1st November 2023.

  • WDRA conducted a Seminar on the “Role of Financial Institutions in promoting e-NWR based Pledge Finance.
  • WDRA stands for Warehousing Development and Regulatory Authority.
  • It comes under the Department of Food and Public Distribution.
  • It was held at the India Habitat Centre,New Delhi.
  • Sanjeev Chopra, Secretary, Department of Food and Public Distribution graced the occasion as Chief Guest.

 

2) PM addressed contingent of Indian athletes of Asian Para Games 2022.

  • PM Modi interacted with India’s Asian Para Games contingent at Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium, in New Delhi.
  • The program is an endeavor by the PM to congratulate the athletes for their outstanding achievement at the Asian Para Games 2022 and to motivate them for future competitions.
  • He hailed the India’s achievement to secure highest ever 111 medals in a major global sports event.

 

3) NITI Aayog held Workshop on India-AU Collaboration.

  • NITI Aayogorganised a workshop on India-AU Collaboration for a Better inclusive World in partnership with the Observer Research Foundation at the Taj Palace, New Delhi.
  • It focused on deliberations to implement the commitments laid out in the New Delhi Leaders’ Declaration in G20 Conference.
  • Initiatives on Inclusive Growth, Sustainable Infrastructure and Migration Management were discussed.

 

4) Anniversary of arrival of India-origin Tamils in Sri Lanka held.

  • Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharamanattended commemoration of bicentennial anniversary of arrival of India-origin Tamils in Sri Lanka in
  • She will also address the India Sri Lanka Business Summit, focusing on the theme of ‘Enhancing Connectivity: Partnering for Prosperity‘, fostering bilateral economic cooperation and trade.
  • She will meet the Lanka leadership to enhance understanding

 

5) 15th India-Singapore Defence Policy Dialogue holds in New Delhi.

  • The dialogue was co-chaired by Defence Secretary Giridhar Aramane and Permanent Secretary, Singapore Chan Heng Kee.
  • The both sides reviewed the existing defence cooperation between  two countries and agreed to enhance collaboration in Service-to-Service interactions and bilateral exercises.
  • They articulated steps to take forward cooperation in emerging areas like cyber security.

 

6) DoPPW launched Nationwide Digital Life Certificate Campaign 2.0

  • Department of Pension & Pensioners’ Welfarelaunched Nationwide Digital Life Certificate Campaign 2.0 from 1st – 30th November, 2023.
  • Nationwide Digital Life Certificate Campaign 2.0 is being organized at 500 locations in 100 cities in all States/ UTs of India.
  • Face Authentication Submission of Digital Life Certificate will make life certificate submission easy and seamless for pensioners.

 

7) India and Sri Lanka re-launched ETCA negotiations.

  • India and Sri Lanka held the 12th round of negotiations on the Economic and Technology Cooperation Agreementin Colombo, Sri Lanka from 30th October 2023 to 1st November 2023.
  • This agreement will be a pivotal move to enhance bilateral trade between the two countries.
  • Both sides acknowledged potential in India and Sri Lanka trade partnership and possibilities for enhanced economic relations.

 

8) Central Information Commission organizes Seminar on Cyber Security.

  • The Central Information Commissionorganized a One Day Seminar on Cyber Security.
  • Suresh Chandra, Information Commissioner graced the inaugural ceremony as Chief Guest, Mr. Heeralal Samariya, Ms Saroj Punhani and Mr. Uday Mahurkar, Information Commissioners were the Guests of Honour.
  • Somnath Banerjee, CISO & Sr. Vice President Global Services delivered the keynote address.

 

9) Construction of 1.08 km long Ramban Viaduct completed in J&K.

  • Union Minister of Roads, Transportation and Highways, Shri Nitin Gadkari hailed the successful completion of the construction of Ramban Viaduct in Jammu & Kashmir.
  • It is a remarkable highway with spanning length of 1.08 kilometer with 4 lanes.
  • The project built at a cost of Rs 328 crore is situated on the Udhampur-Ramban sectionof National Highway-44.

 

10) RBI launches two key surveys for monetary policy inputs.

  • The Reserve Bank of India has announced the introduction of two crucial surveys – the ‘Inflation Expectations Survey of Households‘ and the ‘Consumer Confidence Survey.
  • They’re aimed at gathering essential data for the upcoming bi-monthly monetary policy.
  • The ‘Inflation Expectations Survey of Households’ is designed to capture subjective assessments on price movements and inflation.

 

11) Nandini Das wins British Academy Book Prize for Cultural Understanding

  • India-born author Nandini Dashas been named the winner of the 2023 British Academy Book Prize for Global Cultural Understanding, for her book ‘Courting India: England, Mughal India and the Origins of Empire‘.
  • Das is a Professor of English literature at the University of Oxford.
  • The winning book is her debut and describes the role of the British and Mughals in transforming India’s history.

 

12) US and India to conduct 2 plus 2 ministerial dialogue.

  • US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Defence Secretary Lloyd Austin would be travelling to India for the 2+2 Ministerial Dialogue with their Indian counterparts in New Delhi.
  • The dialogue came to existence from an agreement between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Donald Trump.
  • It is being conducted every year since 2018 to discuss bilateral security and geo-strategic issues.

 

13) Innovative Drug Formulation Offers New Hope for Scorpion Sting Patient

  • The new drug comprising of low doses of commercial equine anti-scorpion antivenomfor inhibiting the Indian red scorpion venom-induced toxicity and associated symptoms.
  • The scientists from theInstitute of Advanced Study in Science and Technology, under Department of Science and Technology and researchers from Tezpur University & NIELIT, Guwahati have invented it.
