1) Indian Navy commissioned stealth guided missile destroyer “INS Imphal”
- Imphal is the first warship to have been named after a city from the North East, paying a tribute to Manipur’s sacrifices in India’s freedom struggle.
- INS Imphal is the third of four ‘Visakhapatnam’ class destroyers.
- It has been indigenously designed by the Indian Navy’s Warship Design Bureau and constructed by Mazagon Dock Limited, Mumbai.
- It has been developed under Project 15B.
2) Extended version of Mission Karmayogi launched on Good Governance Day
- Celebrating Good Governance Day, Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh launched the Extended Version of Mission Karmayogi, introducing new features on the IGOT Karmayogi platform-My iGOT, Blended Programs, and Curated Programs.
- It included the launch of VIKAS (Variable & Immersive Karmayogi Advanced Support), a learning program for capacity building, dedicated to enhance civil servants’ competency
3) Ex RBI governor Raghuram Rajan’s book ‘Breaking the Mould’ released
- Penguin Random House India has announced the release of Raghuram Rajan and Rohit Lamba’s new book, ‘Breaking the Mould: Reimagining India’s Economic Future.’
- The book explores the future of India’s economic development, posing critical questions about the nation’s progress.
- Rajan has previously published notable titles such as ‘Fault Lines’ and ‘The Third Pillar.’
4) UP sets to build India’s first Al city in Lucknow
- Uttar Pradesh will build India’s first Al-based city in Lucknow to foster and promote the Al ecosystem.
- The Al city aims to integrate advanced technology, research centres, and educational institutions, with Eol issued by UP Electronics Corporation Ltd., seeking a real estate developer for the project.
- The government has backed with 25% Capex support and 100% stamp duty exemption.
5) Kerala most preferred state to work in India: India Skills Report 2024
- Two cities, Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram, in Kerala have emerged as the most preferred places to work among the youth in India, according to the India Skills Report 2024.
- The report indicated that employability in India has improved as 51.25% of the youth surveyed are employable with the required skills.
- Kochi is the 1st among the top 10 cities where most women prefer to work.
6) India’s 1st Gyrocopter Air Safari tourism to kick start in Uttarakhand
- Uttarakhand is launching India’s first Himalayan Air Safari, providing a unique tourist experience with Gyrocopter rides across various destinations.
- The initiative aims to boost tourism by offering a novel aerial view of the Himalayan peaks.
- Colonel Ashwini Pundir of the Uttarakhand Tourism Development Board confirmed the introduction of the Gyrocopter air safari soon.
7) X-ray bursts from a neutron star discovered by Astrosat observatory
- India’s first multi-wavelength space observatory, AstroSat, has detected sub-second X-ray bursts from a unique neutron star with an ultrahigh magnetic field known as a Magnetar.
- Scientists from Raman Research Institute and University of Delhi used two instruments onboard AstroSat to analyze the magnetar’s timing and spectral characteristics, discovering 67 short sub-second X-ray bursts.
8) PV Sindhu ranked 16th in Forbes list of highest paid athletes
- Forbes’ 2023 list of highest-paid female athletes placed Polish tennis star Iga Świątek at the top with $23.9 million.
- The list prominently featured tennis players, with 12 of the 20 highest-paid athletes.
- Indian badminton player PV Sindhu ranked 16th, with earnings estimated at $7.1 million.
9) ONGC IPSHEM Goa gearing up to host India Energy Week 2024
- Goa will host the second India Energy Week from 6-9 February 2024 at the ONGC Institute of Petroleum Safety, Health and Environment Management.
- Federation of Indian Petroleum Industry under the aegis of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Government of India is organizing the event.
- The event will foster discussions on energy transition and industrial globalization effects.
10) Bisleri signed Deepika Padukone as it’s Global Brand Ambassador
- Bisleri, an Indian mineral water brand, has signed Deepika Padukone as its first global brand ambassador for the new campaign Bisleri #DrinkItUp, celebrating the importance of hydration.
- The campaign will be promoted across multiple platforms, including TV, digital, and OTT platforms.
- Padukone is set to be featured on all Bisleri product packaging.
11) Kartik Aaryan signed as Brand Ambassador for Football on Sony Sports
- Sony Sports Network, India’s go-to for football, has appointed Bollywood actor Kartik Aaryan, also a football fan, as its Brand Ambassador for football.
- The network has launched the ‘Your Home of Football’ campaign, featuring films with Aaryan to portray the broadcaster’s wide array of football offerings and the actor’s passion for the game.
12) Youth delegation from J&K attended “Watan Ko Jaano” program
- A youth delegation from Jammu and Kashmir attending the ‘Watan Ko Jano’ program met President Droupadi Murmu, being encouraged to continue strengthening India’s diverse unity.
- Urging the delegation to seize government-provided developmental opportunities, President counselled youth to avoid drugs, anti-social elements, and negative publicity for a promising future within India’s mainstream.
