1) India and Mozambique hold 4th Joint Defence Working Group meeting
- The 4th meeting of India-Mozambique Joint Defence Working Group was held in Delhi.
- The meeting was co-chaired by Joint Secretary, MoD Amitabh Prasad and Permanent Secretary of Ministry of National Defence of Mozambique, Casimiro Augusto Mueio.
- They discussed issues of military training and courses, exercises, medicine and capacity building with a view to deepen defence engagements.
2) KPMG ESG Conclave and Awards honor India’s changemakers
- KPMG ESG Conclave and Awards have recognized India’s changemakers in sustainable business practices at a ceremony
- The event brought together business leaders, policymakers, and experts to discuss environmental, social, and governance (ESG) issues.
- The awards recognized companies that have shown exceptional performance in integrating ESG practices into their business strategies.
3) Akamai launches “Brand Protector” to safeguard against phishing attack
- Akamai Technologies, a leading content delivery network and cloud services provider, has announced the launch of “Brand Protector.”
- It aims to protect businesses from phishing attacks, fake websites, and other forms of online fraud that can harm brand reputation and customer trust.
- It uses machine learning and other advanced technologies to detect and mitigate attacks in real-time.
4) Jap. commercial lunar lander presumed lost after failed moon landing
- A Japanese lunar lander, carrying a rover developed in the United Arab Emirates, attempted to find its footing on the moon’s surface, and potentially mark the world’s first lunar landing for a commercially developed spacecraft.
- The lunar lander, called Hakuto-R, was carrying the Rashid rover, the first Arab- built lunar spacecraft, which was built by Mohammed bin Rashid Space Centre in Dubai.
5) Former Punjab CM Parkash Singh Badal passes away
- Parkash Singh Badal, former Chief Minister of Punjab and a senior leader of the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), passed away
- Badal became the Chief Minister for the first time in 1970. He was the youngest Chief Minister and headed a coalition government.
- Later, he became the Chief Minister four times, from 1977 to 1980, 1997 to 2002, 2007 to 2012, and 2012 to 2017.
6) Anant Maheshwari appointed as Nasscom Chairperson
- Nasscom, the apex body for the Indian IT industry, has appointed Anant Maheshwari, President of Microsoft India, as its Chairperson for 2023-24.
- Maheshwari takes over the reins from Krishnan Ramanujam, President – Business and Technology Services at Tata Consultancy Services.
7) Prasar Bharati to organize national conclave on “Mann Ki Baat@100”
- Prasar Bharati will organize a national conclave on “Mann Ki Baat@100” to commemorate the 100th episode of PM Narendra Modi’s monthly radio program, Mann Ki Baat.
- There will be four sessions highlighting the wide-ranging themes of Prime Minister’s interactions during Mann Ki Baat, each facilitated by an eminent panel.
8) Japan’s Health Ministry approves country’s first abortion pill
- Japan’s Health Ministry has approved the country’s first abortion pill.
- While abortion pills are widely available in many countries across the globe, the medication was not approved by Japan’s Health Ministry.
- The approval came from the Health Ministry’s Pharmaceutical Board after it approved the MeFeego Pack abortion pill manufactured by British pharmaceutical Linepharma.
