1) Know About: Member of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme (MPLADS)
- It is a Central Sector Scheme, announced in December 1993.
- It enables MPs to recommend works of developmental nature with an emphasis on the creation of durable community assets.
- The MP recommend work to District Authority, which executes the project.
- Each year, MPs receive Rs. 5 crores in two instalments of Rs. 2.5 crore each.
- Funds under MPLADS are non-lapsable.
2) Tajikistan
- It is a landlocked country located in Central Asia, bordered by Afghanistan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, and China.
- It was part of the Soviet Union until its collapse in 1991.
- The economy of Tajikistan is largely based on agriculture.
- The Pamir Mountains, also known as the “Roof of the World,” are located here.

3) International Labour Organization (ILO)
- ILO is a United Nations agency dealing with labour issues, international labour standards, and social protection.
- It is a tripartite body that brings together governments, employers and workers.

- It is the first and oldest specialised agency of the UN.
- Received the Nobel Peace Prize in 1969.
4) PM Modi to inaugurate ‘Barisu Kannada Dim Dimava’ festival on 25 Feb
- Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate ‘Barisu Kannada Dim Dimava’ cultural festival at Talkatora Stadium, New Delhi on 25th February, 2023.
- The festival is being organized to celebrate Karnataka’s culture, traditions and history.
- The festival will provide an opportunity to hundreds of artists to showcase Karnataka cultural heritage through dance, music, drama, poetry etc.
5) Central Excise Day: 24 February
- It is celebrated every year on February 24 to honor the service of the Central Board of Excise and Customs (CBEC) to the country.
- The day is celebrated to commemorate the legislation of the Central Excise and Salt act on 24 February 1944.
- Customs, GST, Central Excise & Service Tax (CST), and Narcotics are administered by the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) in India.
6) India, Sri Lanka hold 7th annual defence dialogue
- The 7th Annual Defence Dialogue between India and Sri Lanka was held on 23 February 2023, in New Delhi.
- The meeting was chaired by Defence Secretary, Giridhar Armane and his Sri Lankan counterpart General Kamal Gunaratne.
- It is the highest interactive mechanism between both countries.
- The ongoing defence cooperation activities between the two countries were reviewed during the meeting.
7) US nominates former Mastercard CEO Ajay Banga for World Bank President
- S. President Joe Biden on 24 February 2023, nominated business executive Ajay Banga to become president of the World Bank.
- Ajay Banga is currently appointed as the vice. chairman at private equity firm General Atlantic.
- He has more than 30 years of business experience in handling different roles at Mastercard and on the boards of the American Red Cross, Kraft Foods, and Dow Inc.
8) Anurag Thakur to inaugurate All-India Taekwondo Championship on 24 Feb
- Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Anurag Singh Thakur will inaugurate the All-India Taekwondo Championship in New Delhi on 24 February 2023.
- The Championship is being organized to mark 50 years of Korea-India diplomatic relations.
- The Korean Cultural Centre, India is co-hosting the championship with the Sports Authority of India under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports of India.
9) NTPC Ltd. ranked No.1 independent power producer globally by S&P
- NTPC Limited, in February 2023, ranked No. 1 Independent Power Producers and Energy Traders Globally in the S&P Global Commodity Insights Top 250 Global Energy Company Rankings 2022.
- NTPC Limited is India’s largest power-generating company and contributes 24% of the total electricity produced in India.
- It has partnered with NITI Aayog in 2022 for the Net Energy Zero effort.
