1) Mexico Coast Unveils the World’s Second Deepest Blue Hole at 900 Feet

  • The second deepest blue hole of the world has been found off Mexico coast.
  • Deep blue holes are usually located in shallow marine waters and are much deeper than the sea water around them.
  • The newly found blue hole is located in Chetumal Bay, off the coast of Mexico.
  • The Mexico blue hole has been named Taam Ja’, which means “deep water” in Mayan.

 

2) Sharjah Stadium Honours Sachin Tendulkar on His 50th Birthday

  • Sharjah Stadium has named a stand after Indian cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar on his 50th birthday.
  • The stand will now be called “Sachin Tendulkar Stand” in honour of his contribution to cricket and the stadium’s history.
  • Sachin Tendulkar has played many memorable innings at the Sharjah Stadium, including his famous “Desert Storm” knocks in 1998.

 

3) 6th edition of Advantage Healthcare India 2023

  • The sixth edition of Advantage Healthcare India 2023 will take place in New Delhi.
  • The event will focus on showcasing India as a hub for medical value travel, and its emergence as a major destination for world-class healthcare and wellness services.
  • The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and the Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry are jointly organising the event.

 

4) PM Modi to Inaugurate Projects Dadra and Nagar & Daman & Di

  • PM Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for various projects worth 4,800 Cr at Silvassa in the UT of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu
  • The PM will dedicate the NAMO Medical Education and Research Institute, the first medical college in the region
  • PM also launch two infrastructure projects in Daman, “Devka Promenade and Seafront,” aimed at boosting tourism.

 

5) Coast Guards of India, South Korea to hold high-level meeting in Delhi

  • A 7-member delegation of the South Korea CG will have a high level meeting with top officials of Indian Coast Guard in New Delhi.
  • The South Korean Coast Guard will be led by Commissioner Gen KIM Jong Wook, while Indian Coast Guard team will be headed by officiating DG in Indian CG, ADG Rakesh Pal.
  • Both sides are expected to discuss measures at further enhancing the mutual cooperation.

 

6) Indigenous woman from Amazon wins Goldman Environment Prize

  • Munduruku leader Alessandra Korap has been awarded the prestigious Goldman Environmental Prize for her work fighting against illegal mining and large-scale projects aimed at facilitating soybean exports in the Tapajos River Basin.
  • Korap and other Munduruku women took up the responsibility of defending their people, overturning the traditionally all-male leadership.

 

7) IIT Guwahati Researchers Develop Time-Bomb Liquid Marbles

  • IIT Guwahati Researchers Develop Time-Bomb Liquid Marbles with Nanoclay for Controlled Drug Delivery
  • Liquid marbles are small droplets of liquid that are coated with hydrophobic particles
  • The nanoclay coating regulates the rate of drug release, allowing for a more controlled and effective treatment
  • This method of drug delivery can be used in treatment of diseases such as cancer and diabetes.

 

8) SBI inaugurates its fourth startup-focused branch in Mumbai

  • State Bank of India (SBI) has inaugurated its 4th startup-focused branch in Mumbai to promote entrepreneurship
  • The new branch will provide startups with access to a wide range of banking services, loans, credit facilities, and digital banking solutions
  • The branch is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities and services specifically designed to meet the needs of startups and small businesses

 

9) Manamadurai pottery receives GI tag

  • Manamadurai pottery, a traditional form of pottery from Tamil Nadu, has received the Geographical Indication (GI) tag.
  • Manamadurai in Sivagangai district in Tamil Nadu is known for pottery making.
  • The pottery is known for its distinctive style, which features intricate designs and vibrant colors
  • It is made using a mix of locally-sourced clay and is fired in wood-burning kilns

 

10) PM flags off Kerala’s 1st Vande Bharat Express from Thiruvananthapuram

  • PM Narendra modi flagged off Kerala’s Ist Vande Bharat Express which will run from Thiruvananthapuram to Kasargod.
  • The train will cover 11 districts namely Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Kottayam, EhåÅkulam, Thrissur,Palakkad, Pathanamthitta, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Kannur and Kasargod.
  • Rail electrification of the Dindigul-Palani- Palakkad section will also be dedicated by the Prime Minister.
