1) Kargil Brigade organized Yom-e-Fateh Platinum Jubilee celebration
- The Kargil Sentinel Brigadeand District Administration of Kargil commemorated the 75th anniversary of Kargil’s liberation by the Indian Army with the Yom-e-Fateh Platinum Jubilee.
- The ceremony began with dignitaries, including CEC LAHDC Kargil Dr. Jaffar Akhone and GOC 8 Mountain Division Maj. Gen. Sachin Malik, paying tributes at the Kargil War Memorial.
2) Anahat Singh becomes second youngest to win National Squash Champion
- In a remarkable achievement, 15-year-old Anahat Singh secured the women’s title at the Senior National Squash Championship in Chennai, becoming the second-youngest player to accomplish this feat.
- Anahat emerged victorious against Tanvi Khanna, who had to retire due to an injury.
- Velavan Senthilkumar clinched the men’s title by defeating Abhay Singh.
3) National Gopal Ratna Awards -2023 oraganised at Guwahati in Assam
- Union Minister for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying Parshottam Rupala will confer the National Gopal Ratna Awards -2023 at Guwahati in Assam.
- National Gopal Ratna Award is one of the highest National Awards in the field of livestock and dairy sector.
- Chief Minister, Assam, Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma will also be present in the award ceremony.
4) Martyrdom Day of Guru Teg Bahadur: 24th November
- Today marks the martyrdom day of Guru Teg Bahadur, the ninth Sikh Guru, who stood up against Mughal oppression and was executed under Aurangzeb’s reign in 1675.
- He is revered for his teachings of sacrifice, advocating spirituality as a means to overcome greed.
- President Droupadi Murmu remembered the Guru on this day, highlighting his sacrifice for the protection of human values.
5) REC: ‘Best Employer in Diversity & Inclusion’ Award by Assocham
- REC Limited, a Maharatna CPSE under Ministry of Power, received the “Best Employer for Policies in Diversity & Inclusion” Award at the 4th Diversity & Inclusion Excellence Awards and Conclave organized by Assocham.
- REC Limited, a Maharatna CPSE established in 1969, under Ministry of Power, provides long term loans and other finance products for Power-Infrastructure sector.
6) Tributes paid to Ahom general Lachit on birth anniversary
- Assam is celebrating the 401 birth anniversary of one of the state’s greatest sons, 17th-century Ahom general Lachit Borphukan.
- Unless the legendary 17th-century Ahom General had not inflicted a crushing defeat on the Mughals in the 1671 Battle of Saraighat, the Northeast would almost certainly have different characteristics.
7) Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan: Dept. of Social Justice & ISCON sign MoU
- Department of Social Justice & Empowermentsigned a MoU with International Society for Krishna Consciousness for Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan.
- It took place in the presence of Union Minister of Social Justice & Empowerment Dr. Virender Kumar, & Department and senior members of the ISKCON in New Delhi.
- Under NMBA, it would get a boost towards achieving drug-sensitized India.

- The A23a iceberg, the world’s largest iceberg, has recently started moving after being grounded in the Weddell Sea for over three decades.
- It calved from the Antarctic coastline in 1986 and has been essentially an ice island since then.
9) Krishi Sakhis launched for promotion of Natural Farming
- The Ministry of Rural Development and the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare jointly launched training of Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana- National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAY–NRLM)’s Krishi Sakhis for promotion of Natural Farming.
- The initiative aimed to train and certify 50,000 Krishi Sakhis in a phased manner by National Centre for Organic and Natural Farming (NCONF).
10) IFFI screens 7 restored Indian movies under ‘Restored Classics’
- The 54th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) is screening 7 recently restored Indian movies under ‘Restored Classics’ section in Goa.
- These include three iconic Bollywood films – ‘Guide’ directed by Vijay Anand, ‘Haqeeqat’ directed by Chetan Anand, and ‘Bees Saal Baad’ directed by Biren Nag.
- Nearly 6,000 films, are being preserved under the National Film Heritage Mission (NFHM).
11) Pakistan officially applies for BRICS membership
- Pakistan has formally submitted its application for membership in the BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa) grouping, a move coinciding with the bloc’s ambitious expansion plans in 2024 under Moscow’s rotating presidency.
- New Member: Argentina, Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in 2024 summit.
12) B’khand expressway to be U.P’s first Solar Expressway
- The Uttar Pradesh government is gearing up to set up solar plants on a 1700-hectare land along the Bundelkhand Expressway, aiming to develop it as the state’s first solar expressway to generate 550 MW of solar power.
- With this solar plant, the state government aims to supply electricity to one lakh houses along the expressway.
- The estimated lifespan of the project is 25 years.
13) Global Professional Accountants Convention inaugurated at Gandhinagar
- Vice President of India, Jagdeep Dhankhar, is set to inaugurate the Global Professional Accountants Conventionat Mahatma Mandir in
- This event expects the participation of over 4000 delegates hailing from more than 25 countries, gathered to discuss the evolution of the global accountancy profession.
- These sessions cover a wide range of topics central to the field of accountancy.
14) Cultural extravaganza titled Mumbai Fest set to be held in the city
- A cultural extravaganza titled Mumbai Fest is set to be held in the city from the 20-28 January 2024.
- The mega event will be an amalgam of a slew of already popular events like the Kala Ghoda Art Festival, Bandra Fair, Worli Mahotsav and Mumbai Marathon among others.
- Prominent industrialist Anand Mahindra, who has been roped in as the chairperson of the festival’s advisory committee.
15) PITHORAGARH: INDIA- NEPAL JOINT MILITARY EXERCISE SURYA KIRAN- XVII
- The Nepal Army contingent comprising of 334 personnel arrived in India to participate in 17th edition of Joint Military Exercise SURYA KIRAN.
- The exercise will be conducted in Pithoragarh, Uttarakhand from 24th November to 07th December 2023.
- It is an annual event and conducted alternatively in the two countries.
16) Ladakh: 12th edition of Digital Transformation Conclave & Awards 2023
- In Ladakh, 12th edition of Digital Transformation Conclave and Awards 2023 is being organised at Leh by the GovConnect and ilouge Media in collaboration with the Information Technology Department of Ladakh.
- Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Dr. B. D. Mishra, and Advisor to Governor, Dr. Pawan Kotwal will attend the inaugural session.
17) Labeling and Branding of steel sector’s products in global market
- The Consultative Committee of MoS discussed the first ever initiative to introduce labeling and branding of steel sector’s products in the global market.
- National Institute of Design (NID), Ahmedabad has been engaged to design the labels.
- Made in India branding provides for labeling of domestic steel products with details of the product, and a Made in India Logo along with a QR Code.
