1) “Bengaluru’s T2 acknowledged as a Top Globally Beautiful Airport.
- Terminal 2 at Bengaluru’s Kempegowda International Airport recognized globally by Prix Versailles as one of the most beautiful airport terminals.
- Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the terminal, showcasing its national importance.
- The first phase, costing around 13,000 crores, built over 2.5 lakh square meters, can annually accommodate 25 million passengers.
2) Central Railway introduced ‘Panic Button’ safety feature for women.
- Red push buttons installed within each of the four ladies coaches will trigger an alert in emergencies.
- Until this installation, women relied on helpline calls, SMS, or chain-pulling in emergencies.
- Pushing the button, situated next to the alarm chain, will activate an audio and visual signal on flasher units outside the coach, alerting platform staff and fellow passengers.
3) Sanjay Singh elected president of Wrestling Federation of India.
- He defeated Anita Sheoran by 40 votes to 7.
- Singh served on the WFI’s previous executive council and was joint secretary since 2019.

- The Jute Corporation of India has unveiled the ‘Paat-Mitro’ app aimed at aiding jute cultivation and income generation.
- Launched by Rachna Shah, Secretary, Ministry of Textiles, the application offers vital knowledge on jute farming.
- In addition to jute gradation parameters, the app provides information on farmer-centric schemes like ‘Jute-ICARE’, weather forecasts, and procurement policies.
5) Smriti Irani launched National Anganwadi-cum-Crèches program.
- Smriti Irani, kicks off the National Programme on Anganwadi-cum-Crèches in New Delhi.
- The government plans to set up 17,000 crèches nationwide, primarily targeting women construction workers and women farm labourers.

9) Chilla-i-Kalan: Kashmir’s severest 40-Day winter period started.
- The fiercest winter period, ‘Chilla-i-Kalan’, commences in Kashmir, plunging temperatures below the freezing point in many areas.
- Places like Srinagar, Pahalgam, Gulmarg, Qazigund, and Kokernag are experiencing severe cold, resulting in the freezing of several slow-moving water bodies.
- Known for substantial temperature drops and cold waves, the harsh period is expected to last until Jan 31.

- A 700 kWp solar power plant has been set up in Ahmedabad, under the Renewable Energy Service Company (RESCO) mode.

- Expected yearly green energy generation from this installation is approximated to be about 10 lakh units, marking a substantial contribution to renewable energy efforts.
