1) Know About: World Bank
- The World Bank is an international financial institution.
- It provides loans and grants to the governments of low and middle income countries for the purpose of pursuing capital projects.

- As of 2022, it is run by a President and 25 executive directors, as well as 29 various vice presidents.
2) Sarbananda Sonowal launches projects for development of Bogibeel
- Union Minister of Ports, Shipping & Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal launched multiple projects for the development of the Bogibeel region near Dibrugarh in Assam, in Sept 2022.
- Foundation stones were laid for construction of two floating jetties at Bogibeel and Guijan.
- He also inaugurated Bogibeel Riverfront Passenger Jetty which has been developed by the Northeast Frontier Railways (NFR).
3) OneWeb’s 36 satellites arrive at Satish Dhawan Space Centre
- OneWeb has announced the arrival of 36 satellites at Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC-SHAR) ahead of a planned launch from Sriharikota.
- OneWeb has teamed up with NewSpace India Limited (NSIL), the commercial arm of ISRO to facilitate the launch.
- The launch will be the company’s 14th overall and the satellites will be put into orbit by the heaviest ISRO rocket, the GSLV-MKIII.
4) Punjab gets $150 million loan from World Bank
- World Bank has granted a loan of $150 mn to help Punjab in managing financial resources.
- It has a maturity period of 15 years.
- There will be an initiative to introduce a performance-based grants system to encourage municipal corporations to improve service delivery.
- Under the second initiative, a pilot project will demonstrate 24×7 water supply in selected areas of Amritsar and Ludhiana.
5) Manipur Cabinet decides to legalize the brewing of liquor
- Manipur Cabinet on 20 Sept 2022 decided to legalize the brewing of liquor in the State.
- Experts from Scotland and Ireland will be invited to discuss how to brew purified and high-standard liquor in the State.
- The State govt expects to earn around Rs 600 crore on liquor exports.

6) Kashmir’s first-ever multiplex opens in Srinagar
- Jammu & Kashmir lieutenant governor Manoj Sinha inaugurated Kashmir’s first multiplex in the Sonwar area of Srinagar on 20 Sept 2022.
- With this, cinema halls are back in Kashmir after a gap of three decades.
- The multiplex designed by INOX has 3 movie theatres with a total capacity of 520 seats.
- On Dec 31, 1990, all cinema halls in the Kashmir valley were closed amid the spread of terrorism.
7) Singapore Central Bank partners with India’s IFSCA
- The Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) and India’s International Financial Services Centres Authority (IFSCA) have signed an agreement to facilitate regulatory collaboration in FinTech technology.
- Under this, both MAS & IFSCA will facilitate discussions on emerging FinTech issues & participate in joint innovation projects.
- MAS is Singapore’s central bank & integrated financial regulator.
8) Dharmendra Pradhan launches ‘SCALE’ app
- Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on 20 Sept 2022 launched the SCALE (Skill Certification Assessment for Leather Employees) app.
- It provides a one-stop solution for skilling, learning, assessment, & employment needs of the leather industry.
- It has been developed by the Leather Skill Sector Council.
- People from all age groups interested in leather craft can access online classes on this app.
9) International Day of Peace: 21 September
- International Day of Peace is observed across the globe on September 21 annually.
- It is devoted to strengthening the ideals of peace, both within and among all nations and people.
- It was established in 1981 by the United Nations General Assembly.
- To commemorate the day, the United Nations Peace Bell is rung at UN Headquarters in New York City.
- 2022 Theme: “End racism. Build peace.”
10) India’s Presidency of prestigious AIBD extended for one more year
- India’s presidency of the prestigious Asia-pacific Institute of Broadcasting Development (AIBD) has been extended for one more year.
- It was unanimously decided by the AIBD member countries at the 2 day General Conference of AIBD held in New Delhi in Sept 2022.
- Currently, Mayank Agrawal, CEO Prasar Bharati, is the President of AIBD.

11) Bangladesh beat Nepal to clinch maiden SAFF Women’s Championship title
- Bangladesh won its maiden SAFF Women’s Championship title at the Dashrath Rangshala Stadium in Kathmandu on 19 Sept 2022.
- Bangladesh defeated host Nepal by 3-1 in the finals.
- Bangladesh skipper Sabina Khatun was the top scorer of the tournament with 8 goals in 5 matches.
- It was the 6th edition of the tournament which was held from 6-19 September 2022 in Kathmandu, Nepal.
12) India & Egypt sign MOU to bolster defence cooperation
- India & Egypt on Sept 20, 2022, signed an MoU to further enhance bilateral defence cooperation.
- It was signed by Defence Minister Rajanth Singh, who is on a two-day visit to Cairo, & his Egyptian counterpart General Mohamed Zaki.
- They also agreed to identify proposals for expanding cooperation between the defence industries of India and Egypt in a time-bound manner.

13) India’s official entry for 2023 Oscars is Gujarati film ‘Chhello Show’
- Gujarati film ‘Chhello Show’ has been selected as India’s official entry to the 95th Academy Awards (2023 Oscar Awards).
- This film is titled ‘Last Film Show’ in English & is directed by Pan Nalin.
- It beat SS Rajamouli’s period drama ‘RRR’ and political drama ‘The Kashmir Files!
- In 2021, Tamil film ‘Koozhangal’ (‘Pebbles’), directed by Vinothraj PS, was India’s official entry at the Oscars.
