1) BCCI signs SBI Life as Official Partner’ for a three-year Period
- The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced SBI Life as its official partner for the 2023-2026 domestic and international season.
- The three-year deal will begin with the India-Australia ODI series, starting on September 22.
- The partnership is expected to enhance the cricketing experience for fans and players alike.
2) World Alzheimer’s Day: 21 September
- World Alzheimer’s Day is observed on September 21 every year to raise awareness about Alzheimer’s disease.
- Alzheimer’s disease is a progressive brain disorder that affects memory and usually affects people over the age of 65 years.
- The theme for 2023 year’s World Alzheimer’s Month campaign is “Never too early, never too late,”
- The World Alzheimer’s Day was first observed in 1994.
3) UP govt to launch ‘Officer Desk System’ to expedite Secretariat work
- Uttar Pradesh government is launching an Officer Desk System to accelerate secretariat works and ensure prompt and transparent disposal of files.
- The Officer Desk System aims at expeditious file management and curbing corrupt practices while executing government schemes promptly.
- The Desk Officer System will be formed in each department located at the secretariat.
4) MP CM Chouhan to unveil ‘Statue of Oneness’ in Omkareshwar
- Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan will unveil a 108-foot statue of Adi Shankaracharya in Omkareshwar on 21 September 2023.
- The statue is situated on the banks of the Narmada River and stands on a 54-foot-high pedestal.

5) PM Modi to lay foundation stone for Lord Shiva-themed Stadium in UP
- PM Narendra Modi to lay foundation stone for Lord Shiva-themed international cricket stadium in Varanasi on September 23rd.
- The venue is expected to accommodate 30,000 spectators at a time.
- The infrastructure of the facility will depict the city’s devotion to Lord Shiva.
- The entire stadium will have a crescent-shaped roof and floodlights designed like a trident.
6) Lok Sabha passes Women’s Reservation Bill 2023
- The Women’s Reservation Bill, Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam, 2023 was passed in Lok Sabha.
- The bill seeks to provide a 33% reservation to women in the Lok Sabha and assemblies.
- The quota can come into force only by 2029 since it has to be implemented after the delimitation of constituencies.
- The bill was officially introduced in the Lok Sabha on September 12, 1996 by the UPA government.
7) OECD raises India’s FY24 GDP growth forecast to 6.3%
- The Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) has raised India’s GDP (gross domestic product) forecast for 2023-24 to 6.3%
- This is an upward revision from the previous estimate of 6%.
- The OECD is a global organization that promotes economic growth and development.
- India is one of the fastest-growing major economies in the world.
8) International Day of Peace: 21 September
- The International Day of Peace is observed annually on September 21s to promote peace and non-violence around the world.
- The first International Day of Peace was celebrated on September 21, 1982.
- The day aims to remind us of the UN’s commitment to peace and conflict resolution.
- The theme of International Day of Peace 2023 is “Actions for Peace: Our Ambition for the #GlobalGoals.”
9) C-DOT and CSIR-NPL sign MoU for development of PRTC for Telecom sector
- The Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DOT) and CSIR-National Physical Laboratory (NPL) signed an agreement for the development of a based IST traceable Primary Reference Time Clock (PRTC) for the Telecom Sector.
- The project focuses on developing a device which shall provide direct Indian Standard Time (IST) traceability to all the Telecom Service Providers (TSPs).
10) NHAI partners with DMRC to strengthen design & construction of Bridges
- The NHAI (National Highways Authority of India) has signed an MoU with DMRC (Delhi Metro Rail Corporation) to enhance the quality of construction and design of bridges, flyovers, and other structures on national highways.
- DMRC to assist NHAI in reviewing designs of bridges, structures, tunnels, and RE walls.
- Collaboration aims to strengthen NHAI’s ‘Design Division’ for national highways.
11) ECI ropes in Chacha Chaudhary & Sabu to educate young voters
- “Chacha Chaudhary aur Chunavi Dangal” comic book was launched by Election Commission of India (ECI) & Pran Comics to inspire youth to enroll and participate in the festival of democracy.
- The comic features iconic cartoon characters Chacha Chaudhary, Sabu, and Billoo.
- The characters brought to life by the renowned Cartoonist late Pran Kumar Sharma.
12) EPFO records highest net member addition of 18.75 lakh in July
- Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) added 18.75 lakh net members in July 2023, the highest since April 2018.
- The majority of new members joining EPFO are in the age group of 18-25 years.
- Payroll data shows that approximately 12.72 lakh members exited but rejoined EPFO.
- State-wise payroll data denotes that Maharashtra is leading by adding 20.45% of net members during the month.
