1) Know About: Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission

  • PM Modi launched the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) in Sept 2021.
  • Aim: to develop the backbone necessary to support the integrated digital health infrastructure of the country.
  • Under ABDM, every citizen can get a digital health ID and the health records would be digitally protected.
  • The National Health Authority (NHA) is the implementing agency of the mission.

 

2) 22nd World Blockchain Summit begins in Dubai

  • The 22nd global edition of the World Blockchain Summit is taking place in Dubai from 17th to 19th Oct 2022.
  • The Summit is an attempt to bring experts including govt & investors together to initiate conversation & action on blockchain.
  • The next Summit will be held in Bangkok in Dec 2022.
  • Blockchain is a decentralized, distributed ledger that stores the record of ownership of digital assets.

 

3) Wildlife board approves new tiger reserve in Madhya Pradesh

  • Madhya Pradesh Wildlife Board in Oct 2022 approved a new reserve for tigers of Panna Tiger Reserve (PTR).
  • It has been done because one-fourth of PTR will get submerged due to the linking of the Ken-Betwa rivers.
  • The 2,339 square kilometres new tiger reserve, to be called Durgavati Tiger Reserve, will spread across Narisinghpur, Damoh and Sagar districts.

 

4) Goa Govt to launch a common app for entire taxi industry

  • The Goa govt on 18th Oct 2022 announced that it will come up with a mobile application, which will be a common platform for the entire taxi industry in the state.
  • This new app will be called “Goa Taxi” & it will be launched in the state by the New year (2023).
  • 95% of the benefits from the Goa Taxi App will go to the taxi operators & 5% will go towards creating a pension or welfare fund.

 

5) know about: Siachen Glacier

  • The Siachen Glacier is located in the Eastern Karakoram range in the Himalayas, near the LOC.
  • It originates at the base of the Indira Ridge, at an altitude of 6,115m
  • It is th World’s Highest battlefield.
  • The entire Siachen Glacier, with all major passes, is currently under the administration of India since 1984 (Operation Meghdoot)

 

6) PM Modi launches ‘Mission Schools of Excellence’ in Gujarat

  • PM Modi on 19th Oct 2022 launched the ‘Mission Schools of Excellence’ project in Gandhinagar, Gujarat.
  • The Mission has been conceived with a total outlay of Rs10,000 Crores & it is partially funded by the World Bank.
  • It will help strengthen the education infrastructure in Gujarat by setting up new & smart classrooms, computer labs and overall upgradation of the infrastructure of schools.

 

7) World Osteoporosis Day: 20th October

  • World Osteoporosis Day is celebrated every year on 20th October across the world.
  • The purpose of this day is to create. awareness about the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of Osteoporosis.
  • Osteoporosis is a condition in which bones become weak and brittle.
  • This day was first observed in 1996 by the National Osteoporosis Society of the UK.
  • 2022 Theme: “Step Up For Bone Health”

 

8) Sajan Bhanwal: first Indian to win medal at U23 World Championship

  • Sajan Bhanwal became the first-ever Indian Greco-Roman wrestler to win a medal at the Under-23 World Wrestling Championship in Spain on 19th Oct 2022.
  • He defeated Ukraine’s Dmytro Vasetskyi in the 77kg event and won the bronze medal.
  • Greco-Roman is a form of wrestling that allows wrestlers to use only their upper body.
  • U23 World Wrestling Championships was first time held in 2017 in Poland.

 

9) PM Modi launches new strategic air base in Gujarat’s Deesa

  • PM Modi on 19th Oct 2022 laid the foundation stone for Indian Air Force (IAF)’s new airbase at Deesa in Banaskantha district of Gujarat.
  • The Deesa air base, mere 130 km from the Indo-Pak border, will bridge the crucial gap between Gujarat’s Bhuj airbase and Rajasthan’s Uttarlai airbase.
  • It will be built at a total cost of Rs1000 crore and it is expected to be operational in 2024.

 

10) Fifth Khelo India Youth Games 2022 to be held in Madhya Pradesh

  • The Fifth Khelo India Youth Games -2022 will be held in the State of Madhya Pradesh.
  • This was announced by Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Anurag Singh Thakur.
  • It will be held at eight locations and more than 8,500 athletes and sportspersons are expected to participate.
  • It will be held at different places in the state including Bhopal, Indore, Gwalior, Ujjain, and Jabalpur.
