1) Know About: International Monetary Fund

  • International Monetary Fund or IMF is an international financial institution and an agency of UN.
  • It is headquartered in Washington, D.C., US.
  • It was formed on 27 December 1945.
  • It consists of 190 countries as members.
  • The current MD and Chairwoman of the IMF is Bulgarian economist Kristalina Georgieva, who has held the post since October 1, 2019.

 

2) Arvind Kejriwal launches India’s first virtual school for students

  • Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on 31 August 2022 launched country’s first virtual school.
  • Students from all across the country will be eligible for admission.
  • The school is for classes 9-12 and the application process for the Delhi Model Virtual School (DMVS) began on the same day.
  • The classes will be online and recorded lectures will also be uploaded online.

 

3) Cabinet approves signing an MOU between India and Nepal

  • The Union Cabinet has approved an environment ministry proposal for signing an MoU with Nepal on biodiversity conservation.
  • The MoU would help in promoting cooperation between India and Nepal in the field of forests, wildlife, environment, biodiversity conservation and climate change, including restoration of corridors and interlinking areas, and sharing knowledge and best practices.

 

4) Know About: All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE)

  • The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) is a statutory body, and a national-level council for technical education.
  • It comes under the Department of Higher Education, Govt of India.
  • It is responsible for proper planning and coordinated development of the technical education & management education system in India.
  • Founded: 1945

  • Chairman: Jagadesh Kumar (Interim)

 

5) First Homoeopathy International Health Summit held in Dubai

  • The first edition of the “World Health Summit for Pride of Homoeopathy” was held in Dubai on 29 August 2022.
  • Aim: to promote a homoeopathic system of medicine, drugs, and practices.
  • Theme of summit: “Diseases caused by climate change and global warming”.
  • It was organised by Burnett Homoeopathy Pvt Ltd & was addressed by Ashwini Kumar Choubey, MOS, Environment Forest & Climate change.

 

6) 67th Filmfare Awards 2022: Winners

  • The 67th Filmfare Awards were given out on 30 August 2022 at Jio World Centre, Mumbai.
  • The 67th edition of the awards honoured the films released in 2021.
  • The Winners are:
  • Best Actor: Ranveer Singh for ’83’
  • Best Actress: Kriti Sanon for ‘Mimi’
  • Best Director: Vishnuvardhan for ‘Shershaah’
  • Best Film (Popular Category): ‘Shershaah’

7) New Zealand’s Colin de Grandhomme retires from international cricket

  • New Zealand all-rounder Colin de Grandhomme announced his retirement from international cricket on 31 August 2022.
  • Colin represented New Zealand in 29 Tests, 45 ODIs, and 41 T20Is.
  • He was a part of the New Zealand team that won the inaugural ICC World Test Championship.
  • He made his international debut in 2012.
  • He scored 1,432, 742, and 505 runs in Test, ODI, and T201 cricket, respectively.

 

9) Vasudha Gupta appointed as DG of News Services Division of AIR

  • Senior Indian Information Service officer Dr Vasudha Gupta has been appointed as the Director General of the News Services Division of All India Radio.
  • She has succeeded N Venudhar Reddy, who superannuated on 31 August 2022.
  • Before her appointment, she was serving as Director General, Press Information Bureau (PIB).
  • She is credited for establishing of Fact-Check system for the Government.

 

10) National Nutrition Week: 1 to 7 September

  • National Nutrition Week is observed every year from September 1-7 to raise awareness regarding proper eating habits and Nutrition.
  • Aim: To educate people on the importance of nutrition, a healthy lifestyle & a balanced diet.
  • The Indian govt first introduced this week-long campaign in 1982.
  • As per the Global Hunger Index Report 2021, India ranks 101 among 116 countries.
