1) UNESCO: Kozhikode as City of Literature; Gwalior as City of Music
- The UNESCO has designated Kozhikode in Kerala as the City of Literature in its latest List of Creative Cities Network. Besides Kozhikode, Gwalior has also found a place in the Network, as the City of Music.
- 55 cities have been designated by the UNESCO Director-General Audrey Azoulay in seven creative fields like crafts and folk art, design, film, gastronomy, literature, media arts and music.
2) NITI Aayog to organise G20 Feeder Thematic Workshops
- With the aim to bolster the implementation of the G20 New Delhi Leaders’ Declaration, NITI Aayog will be organising feeder thematic workshops on varied themes which were discussed in the G20 New Delhi Leaders’ Declaration (NDLD).
- Ten such Feeder Thematic Workshops are being organised from November 1, 2023 to November 9, 2023.
3) Diaspora Week, ‘Pravasi Parichay,’ Commences in Riyadh
- The inaugural day of the much-anticipated ‘Pravasi Parichay’ or Diaspora Week unfolded with fervor in Riyadh, as the Indian expatriate community came together to celebrate National Unity Day.
- Particularly noteworthy is the inclusion of ‘State Days,’ spanning three days, during which community organizations representing 12 Indian states will showcase their distinctive cultural heritage.
4) CM Pushkar Singh Dhami inaugurates 10-day Uttarakhand Mahotsav in UP
- The 10-day Uttarakhand Mahotsav began at Pt Govind Ballabh Pant Parvatiya Sanskritik Upvan at Gomti Bank near Khatu Shyam mandir, Lucknow.
- Uttarakhand chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami was the chief guest on the occasion.
- On the first day, several groups of well-dressed men and women adorned with the traditional costumes and jewellery of Uttarakhand thronged the venue.
5) Rajyotsava Day (Karnataka Formation Day): 1 November
- Rajyotsava Day which is also known as Karnataka Rajyotsava or Kannada Rajyotsava or Kannada Day or Karnataka Day is celebrated on 1st November every year.
- On 1st November 1956, all Kannada language-speaking regions of South India were merged to develop the State of Karnataka.
- The state received its current name in 1973.
- It is bounded by: Goa, Maharashtra, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala.
6) Andhra Pradesh Formation Day: 1 November
- Andhra Pradesh Formation Day is celebrated on November 1 every year to commemorate the day when the state was formed.
- Andhra Pradesh came into being as a result of the States Reorganisation Act of 1956.
- It was the first to be formed on a linguistic basis.
- Telugu is the official language of the state, which has a deep-rooted literary tradition in this regional language.
7) Prime Minister launches ‘Mera Yuva Bharat (MY Bharat)’
- The Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi launched ‘Mera Yuva Bharat (MY Bharat)’ platform for youth of the country on October 31st, at Kartavya Path on the National Unity Day.
- In a momentous decision on October 11, 2023, the Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, gave its approval for the establishment of an autonomous body known as “Mera Yuva Bharat (MY Bharat).”
8) Rajeev Chandrasekhar to participate in ‘AI Safety Summit’ 2023 in UK
- Minister of State for Electronics and IT Rajeev Chandrasekhar will participate in the two-day ‘AI Safety Summit’ 2023 in the United Kingdom.
- The summit, organized by the UK Government, will bring together Ministers and representatives from various countries, including the UK, US, France, Indonesia, Kenya, Saudi Arabia, and South Korea, among others.
- Centered on the theme of “AI for Good.”
9) Modi – Hasina to jointly inaugurate 3 Indian-assisted development work
- Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Bangladesh counterpart Sheikh Hasina will jointly inaugurate three Indian-assisted development projects.
- The three projects are the Akhaura-Agartala Cross-Border Rail Link; Khulna-Mongla Port Rail Line; and Unit-II of the Maitree Super Thermal Power Plant.
10) 31L U.P. students get A+ in Nipun Assessment Test
- Lucknow More than 31 lakh students have achieved A+ category in Nipun Assessment Test in UP, the result of which was declared by the basic education department.
- A+ category denotes students who scored above 90 per cent.
- Gautam Buddha Nagar, Varanasi, Kannauj, and Ambedkar Nagar achieved exceptional success with highest number of A+ category students.
11) World Vegan Day: 01 November
- Every year, on November 1st, World Vegan Day is observed to raise awareness about the benefits of a vegan diet and veganism in general.
- The first Vegan Day was held on November 1, 2023, to commemorate the UK Vegan Society’s 51st anniversary.
- The theme of World Vegan Day 2023 ‘Celebrating for a Good Cause’.
- On 1 November 1994, ‘The Vegan Society’ was established.
12) PM participates in program marking culmination of Meri Maati Mera Desh
- Lays foundation stone for Amrit Vatika and Amrit Mahotsav Memorial developed from soil collected from every part of country.
- Presents Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav Awards to top 3 performing States or Union Territories – 1. Jammu and Kashmir, 2. Gujarat and 3. Haryana and Rajasthan.
- Launches ‘Mera Yuva Bharat’ – MY Bharat platform.
13) Thailand scraps visas for Indian tourists
- Thailand is scrapping visas for scores of Indian tourists in order to rekindle the fire in its tourism sector.
- Thailand in September scrapped visa requirements for Chinese tourists.
- India has been Thailand’s fourth-largest source market for tourism so far this year with about 1.2 million arrivals after Malaysia, China and South Korea.
