1) Ministry of Jal Shakti conducted ‘Jal Itihas Utsav’ in Mehrauli, Delhi

  • The National Water Mission, Department of Water Resources, Ministry of Jal Shaktiis organizing ‘Jal Itihas Utsav’ at Shamsi Talab, Jahaz Mahal situated in Mehrauli, Delhi on 1st December, 2023.
  • It aims to raise public consciousness about safeguarding water heritage sites.
  • The event marks the culmination of “Water Heritage Fortnight” being celebrated in various districts across the nation.

 

2) Kolkata Intl. Film Fest 2023 to start with Bengali film ‘Deya Neya’

  • The 29th Kolkata International Film Festivalwill begin at t the Netaji Indoor Stadium on December 5, 2023.
  • The event will open with the screening of the 1963 Uttam Kumar-Tanuja starrer ‘Deya Neya.’

7) French literary honour conferred on Bengaluru author Arshia Sattar

  • Renowned author and translatorArshia Sattar has been honored with the Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters by the French government.
  • Arshia Sattar, aged 63 and based in Bengaluru, has made significant contributions to Indian literature and mythology.
  • Notable works are translations of epics like the Ramayana and the Mahabharata.
  • She bagged Sahitya Akademi Prize for Children’s Literature.

 

8) New factory of Dixon Technology to be inaugurated in Nodia, U.P.

  • Union IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw inaugurated Dixon Technology‘s new manufacturing facility in Noida.
  • It aims to create 5000 jobs and enhance local smartphone production.
  • Minister acknowledged how Government’s PLI scheme has augmented job creation in the mobile phone industry, totalling to 5 lakh additional jobs nationwide.
  • He said, U.P. alone is manufacturing 60 percent of mobile phones.

 

9) Three-day Rajgir Mahotsav to showcase heritage of Nalanda & Rajgir

  • The much-awaited Rajgir Mahotsavis back in Bihar and is being held from November 30 to December 2.
  • The three-day mahotsav, organised by the State Tourism Department in association with Nalanda district administration, will be a tourism attraction and boost local economy.
  • According to Bihar Tourism, Rajgir Mahotsav is a representation of history, religion, art, and culture.

 

10) Unemployment rate drops to 6.6% in urban areas in Q1: PLFS Survey

  • Urban unemployment rate in April-June,1st quarter of this fiscal, slid to 6.6 per cent.
  • The quarterly bulletin of Periodic Labour Force Surveyreleased by the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation indicated the change.
  • The PLFS gave estimates of Key employment and unemployment Indicators based on Labour Force Participation Rate, Worker Population Ratio, Unemployment Rate, etc.

 

11) IIT Guwahati launched drone tech training for armed forces officers

  • IIT Guwahati has launched an innovative three-month training program on drone technology for Junior Commissioned Officers and other officers, aiming to modernize armed forces operations.
  • The course facilitates post-retirement career choices for success in the burgeoning drone industry.
  • It offers intense training on drone technologies, pilot training, software operations etc.

 

12) World AIDS Day 2023: 1st December

  • Every year, on1 December, the world commemorates World AIDS Day.
  • People around the world unite to show support for people living with and affected by HIV and to remember those who lost their lives to AIDS.

  • This year marks the 35th commemoration of this day.

 

13) Nagaland Statehood Day: 1st December

  • Nagalandwas formally recognised as a separate state on 1st December, 1963, with Kohima being declared as its capital.
  • The State of Nagaland Act, 1962, was enacted by the Parliament to give Nagaland statehood.
  • After India became independent in 1947, the Naga territory initially remained a part of Assam.
  • The Prime Minister Narendra Modi has greeted people of Nagaland on their Statehood Day.

 

14) Hornbill Festival 2023 to start at Naga Heritage Village, Kohima

  • The24th Hornbill Festival 2023 coincides with Nagaland Statehood Day.
  • Inauguration to be graced by Ambassadors from USA, UK, Colombia, German Consul General, Governor of Nagaland, and Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, showcasing 800 artists across 40 Bands.
  • The festival introduces first-ever exhibits featuring Mithun, a local animal, Tenyi Vo, a native pig breed, and a ‘Bee tourism’ initiative

 

15) V.R. Lalithambika conferred with highest civilian French honour

  • Top ISRO scientist V R Lalithambikaconferred with highest civilian French honour for space cooperation initiatives.
  • Lalithambika is the second ISRO scientist after former ISRO chairman A S Kiran Kumar to be awarded the Legion d’Honneur of Francefor promoting Indo-French space cooperation.
  • The award was given to her by Ambassador of France to India, Thierry Mathou .
