1) Construction of 224-meter viaduct at Sherebibi in J&K completed

  • In Jammu and Kashmir, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has completed another viaduct at Sher Bibi area, a critical section of Jammu-Srinagar National Highway, between Ramban and Banihal section.
  • The 224-meter viaduct (two-lane) has been completed with an estimated cost of 12 crore rupees.
  • It will reduce the travel distance by 125 meters and facilitate the smooth flow of vehicles.

 

2) IGNCA’s film ‘Looking for Challan’ got Prestigious National Film Award

  • ‘Looking for Challan’, a poignant film produced by the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA) and directed by Bappa Ray, clinched the coveted National Award for the ‘Best Investigative Film’ category.
  • This outstanding recognition of ‘Looking for Challan’ as the ‘Best Investigative Film’ this year serves as a testament to the team’s unwavering dedication and collaborative spirit.

 

3) UP government to organize three-day ‘Sri Anna Mahotsav’

  • The Uttar Pradesh government will organize a three-day ‘Sri Anna Mahotsav’ and a state-level millet workshop at Indira Gandhi Pratishthan, Lucknow from 27th to 29th October to promote use of millets.
  • Farmers doing good work for the production of millet would be felicitated on the occasion. The event will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

 

4) Secretary, MeitY inaugurated Robotic Process Automation (RPA) Lab

  • Secretary, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) Shri S Krishnan (IAS) inaugurated Robotic Process Automation (RPA) Lab in NIELIT Gorakhpur on 16th October 2023 during 26th All India Director’s Meet of NIELIT.
  • This is the First-of-its-kind lab in Uttar Pradesh under FutureSkill PRIME Project, which has been established to bridge the gap between Industry and Academia.

 

5) DOLR signs MoU with NRSC to monitor watershed development projects

  • The Department of Land Resources, DOLR and National Remote Sensing Centre, NRSC signed an MoU for monitoring of Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana – Watershed Development Component, WDC 2.O .
  • It aims to restore the ecological balance by harnessing, conserving, and developing degraded natural resources such as soil and water.

 

6) AI Revolution at GITEX GLOBAL 2023 :Indian Startups Take the Lead

  • The ‘Expand North Star’ event, organized by the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC), along with GITEX GLOBAL recently took center stage, putting the spotlight on over 400 AI-infused startups.
  • Notably, AI emerged as a recurring theme across all conference tracks.
  • Expand North Star 2023 plays host to the most extensive congregation of Indian startups ever assembled outside of India.

 

7) Dharmendra Pradhan launches web portal ‘Apna Chandrayaan’

  • Union Minister for Education and Skill Development & Entrepreneurship Shri Dharmendra Pradhan launched a web portal ‘Apna Chandrayaan’ having activity-based support material such as quiz , puzzles, etc for school students on Mission Chandrayaan-3 developed by NCERT under the aegis of the Department of School Education & Literacy (DoSEL), Ministry of Education, in New Delhi.

 

8) Ayurveda Day to be celebrated internationally in about 100 countries

  • Government has said that this year’s Ayurveda Day will be celebrated internationally in about 100 countries across the globe.
  • The Ministry of Ayush organized a meeting of various Ministries for the successful organization of Ayurveda Day scheduled on Dhanvantari Jayanti, 11 November this year.

 

9) Defense Ministry contracts first Indian Coast Guard Training Ship

  • Defence Ministry signed a contract for the construction of one Training Ship for the Indian Coast Guard with Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited at a cost of 310 crore rupees.
  • This is the first dedicated training platform with integral helicopter capabilities.
  • The majority of equipment and systems will be sourced from indigenous manufacturers, including MSMEs.

 

10) 6th Atal Bihari Vajpayee National Award at 9th Global Literary Festive

  • The 9th Global Literary Festival Noida 2023 culminated on a high note with the grand presentation of the 6th Atal Bihari Vajpayee National Award for the Promotion of Art and Culture.
  • The prestigious awards were bestowed upon esteemed personalities from various corners of India in a spectacular ceremony held at Marwah Film City in Noida.
  • Lifetime achievement award: Dr. Rama Singh.

 

11) President Droupadi Murmu to begin three-day visit to Bihar

  • President Droupadi Murmu will be on a three-day visit to Bihar.
  • The President will attend several functions including launch of Fourth Bihar Agriculture Roadmap 2023-2028 and three convocations during her itinerary.
  • The Roadmap is a blueprint for the development of agriculture in the state for the next five years.
  • It comprises the action plan of Agriculture and 11 other allied departments.

 

12) Dharmendra Pradhan launches India Skills 2023 competition

  • Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan launched the India Skills 2023 competition in New Delhi.
  • Pradhan highlighted the skill competition’s importance in showcasing unique and varied talents of the nation’s youth.
  • New Education Policy will bring skill upscaling and rescaling to meet the market needs and boost employability.

 

13) SC collegium recommends names of 7 judicial officers as judge

  • The Supreme Court collegium headed by Chief Justice D Y Chandrachud recommended the names of seven judicial officers for appointment as judges of the Patna and Madhya Pradesh High Courts.
  • The collegium, also comprising Justices Sanjay Kishan Kaul and Sanjiv Khanna, named judicial officers Rudra Prakash Mishra and Ramesh Chand Malviya as judges of the Patna High Court.
