1) Outcomes Of PM’s Independence Day Speech: The Panch Pran (Pledge)
- On the completion of 75 years of Independence, Prime Minister gave the entire Nation 5 Aims.
- Pledge 1: A developed India in 2047.
- Pledge 2: Freedom from Colonial Mindset.
- Pledge 3: Pride in Heritage
- Pledge 4: End of Misogyny
- Pledge 5: Duty of Citizens towards the country
- Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave Indians a new slogan: Jay Jawan, Jay Kisan, Jay Vigyan, and Jay Anusandhan.
2) FIFA suspends All India Football Federation
- The global football governing body FIFA has suspended the All India Football Federation (AIFF) due to undue influence from third parties.
- The suspension will be lifted once an order to set up a committee of administrators to assume the powers of the AIFF Executive Committee has been repealed.
- AIFF was founded in 1935 and is headquartered in Delhi.
- It got FIFA affiliation in 1948.
3) Death anniversary of Ramkrishna Paramhansa: 16 August
- 16 August 2022 marked the 136th death anniversary of Ramkrishna Paramhansa.
- He was one of the most prominent religious figures of India during the 19th century.
- He was an influential yogi and mystic and founder of the Ramakrishna Order.
- He passed away in 1886.
- After his death, his chief disciple Swami Vivekananda popularized his ideas, and founded the Ramakrishna Math
4) Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s death anniversary: 16 August
- 16 August 2022 marked the 4th death anniversary of Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
- He served as the Prime Minister of India for three terms.
- Vajpayee first took charge as Prime Minister of India for a short period in 1996, followed by a second and a third term between 1998-2004.
- He was honoured with the Padma Vibhushan in 1992.
- He was also honoured with the Bharat Ratna in 2015.
5) UK becomes 1st country to approve Omicron vaccine
- The UK has become the first country to authorise a Covid-19 vaccine for the Omicron variant.
- The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Authority – which was the first in the world to approve an original Covid-19 jab – has granted conditional authorisation to the vaccine, which targets both the original strain of the virus.
- It is authorised for use in people aged 18 and over.
6) Golden joint of world’s highest railway bridge inaugurated
- The golden joint of the world’s highest railway bridge over River Chenab was inaugurated in August 2022.
- For the first time ever since independence, Srinagar will be linked to the rest of India after the overarch deck on the world’s highest single-arch railway bridge over River Chenab will be launched.
- The world’s highest railway bridge will be 35 meters higher than the Eiffel Tower.
7) SBI launches its first dedicated branch to support start-ups
- State Bank of India (SBI) launched its first “state-of-the-art” dedicated branch for start-ups in Bengaluru to facilitate and support them.
- The branch launched by SBI Chairman Dinesh Khara is located in Koramangala.
- After Bengaluru, the next branch will be opening in Gurgaon and third one will be in Hyderabad.
- These branches would support the needs of the entire start-up ecosystem.
8) Arunachal’s 3rd Airport Named ‘Donyi Polo Airport’
- The third airport in Arunachal Pradesh, which is now under construction in Itanagar, has been given the name “Donyi Polo Airport” by the Arunachal Pradesh administration.
- The name stands for the indigenious respect for the Sun (Donyi) and the Moon (Polo) among the populace.
- It will be a 16th fully operational airport in the north India.
9) Hydrabad international Airport to roll out Digi Yatra
- GMR Hyderabad International Airport here will roll out the digital processing of passengers through the facial recognition system as a proof of concept through the DigiYatra platform.
- The airport was the first in the country to do a trial of the face recognition in 2019.
- An exclusive mobile app for the programme was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Independence Day.
10) Maharashtra govt announces 3% rise in DA
- Maharashtra government on Tuesday announced a 3% rise in the dearness allowance (DA) payable to nearly 17 lakh government employees in Maharashtra.
- When this will come into effect the total Dearness allowance will increase from 31% to 34%

11) INS Satpura to 75 Lap “Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav Run” at San Diego
- INS Satpura has reached a milestone after reaching San Diego to conduct a 75 Lap “Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav” and it is the first time an Indian Naval Warship has reached the west coast of North America
- The arrival of INS Satpura to the San Diego US Navy Base is a historic event as it is the first time an Indian Naval Warship has reached the western coast of North America.
