1) MoU between India and USA to Enhance Innovation Ecosystems signed
- A Memorandum of Understanding on “Enhancing Innovation Ecosystems through an Innovation Handshake” under the framework of India – U.S. Commercial Dialogue was signed between the two countries on the 14th of November 2023 in San Francisco.
- The leaders’ Joint Statement during the historic official State Visit of Prime Minister in June announced the establishment of the “Innovation Handshake”.
2) Over 18.88 lakh new workers enrolled under ESI scheme in September
- Over nine lakh young employees, upto the age group of 25 years, constitute the majority of new registrations.
- Gender-wise analysis of payroll data indicates that net enrolment of female members was 3.51 lakh in September.
- The data shows that 61 transgender employees have also been registered under ESI Scheme in September.
3) India’s overall exports in October 2023 estimated at USD 62.26 Billion
- It is an increase of 9.43 percent over USD 56.90 Billion in October 2022.
- Merchandise Exports in October 2023 registered 6.21 percent growth at USD 33.57 over USD 31.60 Billion in October 2022.
- The estimated services export for April-October 2023 is USD 192.65 Billion as compared to USD 181.37 Billion in April-October 2022, projecting to grow by 6.22 percent.
4) Gomti Nagar station to get its own rail coach restaurant
- Located right outside the redesigned station’s platform number one, ‘Royal Train Cuisine’ is made using scraps and will remain open 24×7.
- The first one was inaugurated at Charbagh station recently.
- While the dining facility has 70 seats, the space outside the coach has been turned into a cafe with a seating capacity for nearly 100 people in a space of 4000 sq.feet.
5) International Day for Tolerance: 16th November
- The International Day for Toleranceis an annual observance day declared by UNESCO in 1995 to generate public awareness of the dangers of intolerance.
- It is observed on 16 November every year.
- The declaration highlights that tolerance is important for peace and progress, encouraging societies to recognise the importance of mutual respect and dialogue.
6) 3rd Hockey India Senior Women Inter Department National Championship
- In a sporting environment and thrilling atmosphere, Shri Hardeep Singh Puri, Hon’ble Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas & Housing and Urban Affairs inaugurated the 3rd Hockey India Senior Women Inter Department National Championship 2023and the tournament trophy at Shivaji Stadium.
- The tournament is being hosted by Indian Oil Corporation limited.
7) Varanasi company to launch mini-cruise service in Saryu river
- Two solar-powered ‘mini-cruise’ ships will operate in the Saryu River in Ayodhya before the inauguration of the Ram Temple in January.
- The vessels will offer a tour of Ayodhya’s ghats and aim to spread knowledge of Lord Ram’s life.
- The ships will be fully air-conditioned and operated by solar power.
- The cruise service is expected to boost tourism in Ayodhya and create job opportunities.
8) IAF to organize air show on Nov 23-24 at Ambala Air Force Station
- During the air show, Surya Kiran and Akashganga teams will showcase their skills in the sky alongside the aircrafts of the Indian Air Force.
- Ambala Cantonment is a cantonment town in Ambala district in the state of Haryana, India. It is 200 km north of Delhi and 55 km southwest of Chandigarh.
- Orders have already been issued under Section 144 to prohibit flying near the Air Force station.
9) World Philosophy Day: 16th November
- World Philosophy Day is an international day proclaimed by UNESCO to be celebrated every 3rd Thursday of November.
- It was first celebrated on 21 November 2002.
- By celebrating World Philosophy Day each year, on the third Thursday of November, UNESCO underlines the enduring value of philosophy for the development of human thought, for each culture and for each individual.
10) World Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) Day: 15th November
- Global Initiative for Chronic Obstructive Lung Disease(GOLD) in collaboration with health care professionals and patient groups worldwide observed November 15 as World Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) Day.
- Its theme is ‘Breathing is Life, Act Earlier.’
- COPD is a preventable and treatable disease that causes breathlessness, chronic sputum production and cough.
11) National Press Day: 16th November
- The day is observed on 16th November every year to commemorate a free and responsible press.
- It was on this day that the Press Council of India started functioning as a moral watchdog to ensure that the press maintains high standards.
- The theme for National Press Day 2023 is “Media in the Era of Artificial Intelligence.”
12) CBDT Chairman inaugurates GST & Customs Pavilion at 42nd IITF
- The theme of the event is “CBIC-Uniting Markets, Bridging Borders.”
- The event is being held at 42nd India International Trade Fairin New Delhi.
- CBIC has set up 6 dedicated helpdesks on GST, Customs, GSTN, ICEGATE and CBIC Mitra to help-guide the taxpayers and public regarding rules/processes.
- Tutorial Videos on GST Registration, Composition Levy and India’s AEO Programme released.
13) TRAI cautions public against fraud calls threatening SIM disconnection
- Telecom Regulatory Authority of India has urged the people to be cautious about the messages sent in the name of TRAI.
- It said, TRAI does not block, and disconnect any mobile number of any individual telecom customer.
- It said, TRAI never send any message or make any call for disconnection of mobile numbers.
- The statement came in the wake of several incidents noticed by TRAI.
