1) National Women’s Day: 13 February
- The day is celebrated on 13 Feb every year.
- In recognition of Sarojini Naidu’s contributions to women’s rights and Independence movement, her birthday is celebrated as Women’s Day in India.
- It is celebrated to honour the achievements of women in the country, especially in the field of politics, culture, and economy.
- Events are organised to encourage more women to take up leadership roles.
2) Nikos Christodoulides elected as the new president of Cyprus
- Nikos Christodoulides has been elected as the next President of Cyprus on 12 Feb’23.
- Christodoulides, defeated fellow diplomat Andreas Mavroyanis in the presedential race.
- Christodoulides is supported by the Democratic Party, the Movement for Social Democracy and the Democratic Alignment.
- Previously, he was appointed Government Spokesperson in 2014 and Foreign Minister in 2018.
3) President Draupadi Murmu appoints new governors in 13 states
- President Murmu appointed 13 new Governors on 12 Feb’23.

4) India to jointly organize 12th World Hindi Conference in Fiji
- It will be organised by Ministry of External Affairs of India in cooperation with the Fiji government.
- It will be held at Nadi in Fiji from 15-17 Feb 2023.
- Theme: Hindi – Traditional Knowledge to Artificial Intelligence
- It will be inaugurated by External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and Fiji Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka.
- The 11th World Hindi Conference was held in Mauritius in 2022.
5) PM inaugurates 14th edition of Aero India 2023 in Bengaluru
- Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the 14th edition of Aero India on 13 Feb’23.
- It is being held at Air Force Station, Yelahanka in Bengaluru.
- Theme of Aero India 2023: The Runway to a Billion Opportunities
- In line with the PM’s vision of ‘Make in India, Make for the World, the event will focus on displaying indigenous technologies and forging partnerships with foreign companies.

7) First meeting of G-20 Agriculture Working group begins at Indore
- The first meeting of G-20 Agriculture Working group is being held in Indore, Madhya Pradesh from 13 to 15 February 2023.
- Around a hundred delegates from G20 member countries, guest countries and International Organizations are participating in the meeting.
- During the meeting, events will be organised to deliberate over agriculture-related matters.
8) World Radio Day: 13 February
- World Radio Day is celebrated on 13 February to raise awareness about the importance of radio.
- The day was decided by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) on 3 November 2011 during its 36th conference.
- The theme for the 12th edition of World Radio Day (2023), is “Radio and Peace” highlighting independent radio as a pillar for conflict prevention.
9) PM Modi inaugurates Dayanand Saraswati’s 200th birth anniversary event
- Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the year-long celebrations commemorating the 200th birth anniversary of Maharishi Dayanand Saraswati on 12 February 2023.
- Maharishi Dayanand Saraswati, born on February 12,1824, was a social reformer who founded Arya Samaj in 1875 to counter the prevalent social inequities.
- The book ‘Satyarth Prakash’ was written by Dayanand Saraswati in 1875.
10) DGGI and NFSU sign an MoU for setting up of digital forensic library
- The Directorate General of GST Intelligence (DGGI) and the National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU) on 7 February 2023 signed an MoU for setting up of digital forensic laboratories.
- This MoU will help the DGGI in the field of investigation and digital forensics and will assist the agency for launching effective prosecutions and securing convictions of the guilty.
11) President Droupadi Murmu inaugurates 2nd Indian Rice Congress
- President Droupadi Murmu inaugurated the second Indian Rice Congress at National Rice Research Center Institute (NRRI) in Cuttack, Odisha on 11 February 2023.
- The 2023 congress was held on the theme “Transforming Rice Research”
- It was focused on the global food crisis and the recent scientific developments that will help in increasing the production and yield of paddy crops.

13) PM Narendra Modi inaugurates first phase of Delhi-Mumbai Expressway
- Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the first phase of the 1,400 kilometres long Delhi-Mumbai expressway in Rajasthan’s Dausa on 12 February 2023.
- The 246-kilometre Delhi-Dausa-Lalsot stretch of the expressway will cut down the travel time from Delhi to Jaipur from 5 to 3.5 hours.
- Delhi Mumbai Expressway will be India’s longest expressway with a length of 1,386 km.
