1) Govt to organise World Food India 2023 from November 3 in Delhi
- The Indian government is organizing World Food India 2023 from 3-5 November in New Delhi to bring the global food processing industry together.
- The Start-Up Pavilion at World Food India 2023 aims to have maximum participation of women entrepreneurs.
- World Food India 2023 is an opportunity for global industry leaders to collaborate and innovate in the food processing sector.
2) Assam cabinet approves Rs 3000 cr for new road project under asom mala
- The Assam government has approved a new 1000-km road project called “High Speed Economic Corridor” under the Asom Mala scheme.
- The cabinet also approved a loan of up to 950 cr rupees from NABARD to upgrade 90 rural roads & 4 rural bridges.
- The cabinet approved a revised draft notification for the declaration of an Eco-Sensitive Zone of Bherian-Boraian-Padumoni Wildlife Sanctuary in Tinsukia.
3) Gaganyaan test space flight scheduled for October 21
- The launch of the Gaganyaan Test Vehicle Space flight, Gaganyaan Test Vehicle Development flight (TV-D1) is scheduled on October 21, Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh announced on 10 October 2023.
- SRO will also test the efficacy of the Crew Escape System which is the crucial part of “Gaganyaan” mission.
- The test is to be conducted at Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota.
4) 1 crore OPD tokens generated using ABHA-based Scan in one year
- The National Health Authority (NHA) has generated over 1 crore tokens for OPD registrations using the ABHA-based Scan.
- The Scan and Share service allows patients to scan a QR code at the OPD registration counter and share their ABHA profile for instant registration.
- Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, and Jammu & Kashmir are the top-performing states for implementing the OPD registration service.
5) Maharashtra govt approves ‘Lek Ladki’ scheme
- Maharashtra Government has approved the ‘Lek Ladki’ (Beloved Daughter) scheme on Tuesday.
- It will be applicable to families holding yellow or saffron ration cards.
- The state government has said that the scheme will be effective for girls born post-1st of April 2023.
- The scheme will provide financial aid of one lakh rupees for a girl child of a poor family.
6) India’s IN-SPACe unveils space economy vision for 2023-33
- India’s Indian National Space Promotion and Authorisation Centre (IN-SPACe) has unveiled a space economy vision which focuses on demand creation, and local manufacturing.
- The vision aims to enhance India’s space market capabilities and establish a space outreach wing within IN-SPACe.
- IN-SPACe aims to promote collaboration between all stakeholders to accelerate growth in Indian space sector.
7) 14th Report on States/UTs performance on CPGRAMS released by DARPG
- The Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG) released its 14th monthly report on Centralized Public Grievance Redressal and Monitoring System (CPGRAMS) for States/UTs for September 2023.
- Uttar Pradesh and Gujarat disposed of the maximum number of grievances in September 2023.
- Uttar Pradesh received the maximum number of grievances in September 2023.
8) UP govt to provide pink scooters to 1100 women beat constables
- The government of Uttar Pradesh plans to set up 3,000 Pink Booths and provide Pink Scooters to women beats under the Safe City Project.
- The first phase includes constructing Pink Booths at 20 religious places and providing electric two-wheeler scooters to 1100 women-beat constables in 17 municipal corporations.
- The Safe City project will be completed in three phases in Uttar Pradesh.
9) Padma Shri awardee, Dahyabhai Shastri passes away
- Padma Shri awardee, Dahyabhai Shastri, an Indian scholar of Sanskrit and the founder of Brahmarshi Sanskrit Mahavidyalaya, Nadiad, passed away on 10 October 2023.
- He is also a former president of the Gujarat state unit of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad.
- He was actively working towards the expansion and education of Sanskrit language throughout his life.
10) 8th BRICS International Competition Conference to be held in New Delhi
- The Competition Commission of India (CCI) is hosting the 8th BRICS International Competition Conference in New Delhi from October 11-13, 2023.
- The conference will focus on “New Issues in Competition Law and Policy – Dimensions, Perspectives, Challenges”.
- The conference aims to discuss emerging issues and challenges in competition enforcement in BRICS countries.
11) RBI orders BoB to halt customer onboarding on ‘bob World’ app
- The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has directed Bank of Baroda to suspend further onboarding of customers onto the ‘bob World’ mobile application.
- It is aimed at ensuring that banks adhere to proper processes and standards when onboarding customers onto mobile applications.
- The ‘bob World’ mobile app is a digital platform that allows Bank of Baroda customers to access banking services online.
12) IMF Raises India’s FY24 Growth Forecast to 6.3% From 6.1%
- The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has raised India’s GDP growth forecast for the financial year 2023-24 to 6.3 per cent.
- This is the second upward revision since the April 2023 report, with the growth forecast being raised from 5.9% in April to 6.3% now.
- India’s GDP growth forecast for 2024-25 remains unchanged at 6.3%.
- IMF has projected India’s consumer inflation at 5.5% this fiscal.
13) International Day of the Girl Child: 11 October
- International Girl Child Day is observed annually on October 11.
- The day aims to focus on the importance of girls’ education, their rights.
- On Dec 19, 2011, United Nations General Assembly adopted Resolution 66/170 to declare October 11 as the International Day of the Girl Child.
- The theme of International Day of the Girl 2023 is “Invest in Girls’ Rights: Our Leadership, Our Well-being”
14) India’s direct tax collection up 18% YoY as of October
- Direct tax collections in India have increased by 17.95% on a yearly basis, with ₹11.07 lakh crore collected so far in the current financial year 2023-24.
- In the entire financial year 2022-23, the total gross GST collection in India stood at ₹18.10 lakh crore.
- In April 2023, the gross GST collection in India was at an all-time high of ₹187,035 crore.
15) ‘A-HELP’ programme launched in Jharkhand
- The Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Government of India launched the ‘A-HELP’ programme in Jharkhand on 10 October 2023.
- The program aims to empower women in the livestock sector by engaging them as Accredited Agents for disease control and livestock insurance.
- The program will enhance access to veterinary services at the farmer’s doorstep and empower Pashu Sakhis
