1) World Usability Day: 10th November

  • Every year, the second Thursday of November is internationally observed as World Usability Day.
  • In 2022, It is being celebrated on 10th Nov.
  • Aim: to bring a variety of communities together which can work in making this world an easier place to live.
  • It is also known as Make Things Easier Day.
  • It was established in 2005 by the Usability Professionals Association.
  • 2022 Theme: “Our Health”

 

2) India to host women’s World Boxing Championship in 2023

  • India will host the women’s world boxing championships in 2023 in New Delhi.
  • It will be the third time that the women’s competition will be held in the country having conducted the championships in 2006 & 2018.
  • It will be conducted by the International Boxing Association (IBA) & the Boxing Federation of India (BFI).
  • The 2022 Championships was held in Istanbul, Turkey from 8 to 20 May 2022.

 

3) Justice Rituraj Awasthi appointed as chairperson of Law Commission

  • The Union government has appointed former Chief Justice of Karnataka High Court Rituraj Awasthi as the Chairperson of the Law Commission of India.
  • The Commission has been reinstated after a gap of four years as the 22nd Law Commission.
  • Awasthi served as the Chief Justice of Karnataka HC during October 2021-July 2022.
  • He was part of a bench that upheld the hijab ban in Karnataka.

 

4) AIM launches women centric challenges under ANIC program

  • Atal Innovation Mission (AIM) of NITI Aayog on 9 Nov ’22 launched the Women centric challenges under the 2nd edition of Atal New India Challenge (ANIC).
  • These challenges address the major issues faced by women from all spheres of life.
  • ANIC aims to support technology-based innovations that solve sectoral challenges of national importance.
  • AIM launched: 2016

5) World Science Day for Peace and Development: 10th November

  • World Science Day for Peace and Development is observed every year on 10th November to raise the importance and relevance of science in our daily lives.
  • The main aim of this day is to ensure that citizens are kept informed of developments in science.
  • It was established by the UNESCO in 2001 and was first celebrated in 2002.
  • 2022 Theme: ‘Basic Sciences for Sustainable Development!

 

6) Know About: Law Commission of India

  • Law Commission of India is an executive body established by an order of the Govt of India.
  • Its function is to research and advise the Govt on legal reform, and is composed of legal experts, and headed by a retired judge.
  • It was first constituted in 1955 and has so far submitted 277 reports.
  • The Chairman of the first Law Commission: M. C. Setalvad (also the First Attorney General of India.)

 

7) Know About: Atal Innovation Mission (AIM)

  • AIM is a flagship initiative set up by the NITI Aayog in 2016 to promote innovation & entrepreneurship across the country.
  • Objectives: to promote an ecosystem of innovation & entrepreneurship across the country at school, university & industry levels.
  • It has created 4 programs: Atal Tinkering Labs, Atal Incubation Centres, Atal New India Challenges & Mentor India.
  • Director: Chintan Vaishnav

 

 

8) Know About: Strait of Messina

  • The Strait of Messina is a narrow strait between eastern tip of Sicily & western tip of Calabria in Southern Italy.
  • It connects the Tyrrhenian Sea to the north with the lonian Sea to the south, within the central Mediterranean.
  • The strait’s maximum depth is about 820 ft.
  • At its narrowest point, its 3.1 km wide.
  • The strait has strong tidal currents that create a unique marine ecosystem.
