1) PM Modi Multiple Scientific Projects on National Technology Day
- PM laid foundation stone of Laser Interferometer Gravitational Wave Observatory- India
- He also dedicated ‘Rare Earth Permanent Magnet Plant, Visakhapatnam’ to the nation
- By this, India will join select group of nations with capacity to produce Rare Earth Permanent Magnets
- PM also dedicated to the nation ‘National Hadron Beam Therapy Facility’ and ‘Fission Molybdenum-99 Production Facility’
2) Badminton Asia Appoints BAI Joint Secretary Omar Rashid as CTO
- Badminton Asia has named Omar Rashid as the Chair of the Technical Officials Committee.
- Omar Rashid, a Joint Secretary of the Badminton Association of India (BAI), has been selected for this prominent role within Badminton Asia.
- He will oversee the development and implementation of rules and regulations, elevating the standards of officiating in badminton tournaments nationwide.
3) ASEAN Summit 2023
- The 42nd Summit of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) has kicked off in Indonesia with a theme of “ASEAN Affairs: Epicenter of Growth”.
- President Joko Widodo, who holds the presidency of the bloc, emphasized the enormous potential of the ASEAN region, which has a total population of around 650 million inhabitants.
4) ‘Writing with Fire’ Wins Peabody Award in Documentary Category
- “Writing with Fire,” an Oscar-nominated documentary, has been honored with the prestigious Peabody Award in the documentary category.
- It has been directed by Rintu Thomas and Sushmit Ghosh
- The documentary revolves around the only women-led newspaper in India- Khabar Lahariya, and how it transitions into digital journalism
- The Peabody announced the 35 selected winners for the year 2022
5) FIBA Selects Qatar as Host for Marquee 2027 Men’s Basketball World Cup
- Qatar has been chosen by FIBA (International Basketball Federation) to host the highly anticipated 2027 Men’s Basketball World Cup.
- Doha will stage all games in the 32-team event
- The selection of Qatar as the host for the 2027 Men’s Basketball World Cup reflects FIBA’s confidence in the country’s state-of-the-art infrastructure
6) India leads list of 10 countries with 60% of global maternal deaths
- India leads a list of 10 countries that together account for 60 per cent of global maternal deaths, stillbirths and newborn deaths, and 51 per cent of live births globally: UN Study
- The latest published estimate in the progress tracking report by the WHO, UNICEF, and the IJNFPA was launched at the ongoing ‘International Maternal Newborn Health Conference’ (IMNHC 2023).
7) Dr. Akhilesh memorial Deccan Premier Carrom League
- Deccan Premier Carrom League to be held in Nizamabad.
- Players from the seven States,Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala, Maharashtra and Odisha, besides some internationals will be in action.
- For the first time in India, Carrom Live Platform will be paperless with the scores to be entered through mobiles, live scores and online statistics, besides live streaming.
8) PMSBY, PMJJBY & APY completes 8 years
- Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojan ♫) and Atal Pension yojana (APY) complete 8 yrs.
- These three schemes were launched by PM Narendra Modi in 2015 from Kolkata in West Bengal.
- The government had launched two insurance schemes PM Suraksha Bima Yojana and PM Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana to make the people belonging from unorganised sections financially secure.
9) Arab League Re-admits Syria as Relations with Assad Normalize
- The Arab League readmitted Syria after more than a decade of suspension, consolidating a regional push to normalise ties with President Bashar al-Assad.
- The decision said Syria could resume its participation in Arab League meetings, while calling for a resolution of the crisis resulting from Syria’s civil war, including the flight of refugees to neighbouring countries and drug smuggling.
