- In 1973, NASA launched Radio Astronomy Explorer 49 into lunar orbit
- In 1986, India won the Test match at Lord’s for the first time by defeating England by 5 wickets.
- In 2003, NASA’s Mangalyaan Rover was launched.
3) India & Serbia agree to set bilateral trade of 1 Billion Euros by 2030
- President Droupadi Murmu and Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic agreed to increase bilateral trade from 320 million euros to one billion euros by 2030.
- The president visited Serbia from June 7th to June 9th.
- President Murmu laid a wreath at the monument of the unknown heroes at Mount Avala.
- The Indian and Serbian delegations resolved to work on diverse areas of potential cooperation.
4) NHDC to construct 525 MW pumped storage power project in MP
- NHDC Ltd. announced the construction of a 525 MW pumped storage power project near the Indira Sagar Dam in Khandwa, Madhya Pradesh.
- The project will address the increasing peak hour energy demand of the state by utilizing the existing reservoirs of the Indira Sagar.
- It will generate 1,226 million units of energy during peak hours.
- NHDC Ltd. is a joint venture of NHPC Ltd. and MP govt.
5) UP government cancels all traffic challans between 2017 to 2021
- The Uttar Pradesh government has canceled all traffic challans for private and commercial vehicle owners pending from 2017 to 2021.
- The cancellation applies to challans issued between 1 January 2017 and 31 December 2021, regardless of the vehicle type.
- The cancellation includes cases that are currently pending in various courts.
6) Go Digit Life Insurance gets Irdai nod for life insurance business
- The Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) has granted a life insurance business license to Go Digit Life Insurance Limited.
- It is backed by Canada’s Fairfax Group and is already in the general insurance business.
- Go Digit is one of the first non-life insurers in India to be fully operated on the cloud and has developed API integrations with several channel partners.
7) Govt announces second edition of Antarashtriya Yoga Diwas Media Samman
- Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has announced the second edition of Antarashtriya Yoga Diwas Media Samman.
- Thirty-three Sammans will be given out under three categories: Print, Television, and Radio in twenty-two Indian languages. and English.
- The awards will be given for Best Media Coverage in Yoga in Newspaper, Electronic Media (TV), and Electronic Media (Radio).
8) National Archives of India organizes “Hamari Bhasha, Hamari Virasat”
- An exhibition titled “Hamari Bhasha, Hamari Virasat” was inaugurated by Minister of State for Culture, Meenakshi Lekhi, at the National Archives of India.
- The exhibition celebrates India’s linguistic diversity and showcases a selection of original manuscripts, and rare books.
- The Gilgit Manuscripts, the oldest surviving manuscript collection in India, are also on display at the exhibition.
9) Coal Ministry organizes Seminar on “Blue Hydrogen-Energy Security”
- The Ministry of Coal organized a session on “Blue Hydrogen-Energy Security & Hydrogen Economy” to deliberate on technologies available for coal to hydrogen, and cost competitiveness.
- The discussion focused on exploring the potential applications of hydrogen in scaling Direct Reduced Iron projects.
- The session also discussed the potential of hydrogen in decarbonizing steel making processes.
10) Russia to deploy tactical nuclear weapons in Belarus by July 2023
- Russian President Vladimir Putin has announced that Russia will start deploying tactical nuclear weapons in Belarus after the facilities are ready on 7-8 July 2023.
- In March 2023, Putin announced he wanted to deploy tactical nuclear weapons in Belarus.
- Russia possesses a total of 5,889 nuclear warheads as of 2023, the largest stockpile of nuclear warheads in the world
