1) Kheda Satyagraha of 1918, Part – 1
- The Kheda Satyagraha of 1918 was a satyagraha movement in the Kheda district of Gujarat organised by Mahatma Gandhi during the period of the British Raj.
- It was the third Satyagraha movement, which was launched 4 days after the Ahmedabad mill strike.
- Gandhiji organised this movement to support peasants who were unable to pay the revenue because of famine and plague epidemic.

- The United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) was established in 1964 as an intergovernmental organization intended to promote the interests of developing countries in world trade.
- The first UNCTAD conference took place in Geneva in 1964 & the second in New Delhi in 1968.
- Currently, UNCTAD has 195 member states.

4) Lalit Bhasin elected as the new IACC national president
- Noted lawyer Lalit Bhasin has been appointed as the national president of Indian American Chambers of Commerce (IACC).
- Bhasin, before being elected to the post, was the executive vice president of IACC.
- Bhasin is the 54th national president of IACC, which was set up in October 1968 and is headquartered in Mumbai.
- IACC Objective: to promote trade & commerce between India & the United States.
5) ISRO Scientist Anil Kumar elected as the Vice President of IAF
- Anil Kumar, Senior Scientist in ISRO, was elected as the Vice President of the International Astronautical Federation (IAF) during its Annual Conference held in Paris in Sept 2022.
- Currently, Dr Kumar is working as Associate Director in ISRO.
- Founded in 1951, the IAF is the world’s leading space advocacy body with 433 members in 72 countries.

6) PhonePe moves domicile from Singapore to India
- Payments and financial services provider PhonePe has completed the process of moving its domicile from Singapore to India ahead of its plans to launch an initial public offering (IPO).
- This means that all PhonePe Group businesses and entities are now wholly-owned by and consolidated under PhonePe Pvt Ltd India.
- PhonePe was founded in 2015.

- India’s economic growth to decline to 5.7% in 2022: UNCTAD
- India’s economic growth is expected to decline to 5.7% in 2022 from 8.2% in 2021, according to the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) Report 2022.
7) India’s GDP will further decelerate to 4.7% growth in 2023, as per this report.
- The report has cited higher financing costs & weaker public expenditures for this decline in growth.

8) Sujoy Lal Thaosen takes charge as 37th CRPF Director General
- Senior IPS officer Sujoy Lal Thaosen on 3rd Oct 2022 took charge as 37th Director General (DG) of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).
- He will have a term till Nov 2023.
- Earlier, Thaosen was holding charge of DG of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) as well as the additional charge of Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) chief.
- IPS officer Anish Dayal Singh has been appointed as the new DG of ITBP.
9) Sandeep Kumar Gupta takes over as GAIL Chairman
- Seasoned finance professional Sandeep Kumar Gupta on 3rd Oct 2022 took over as the chairman and managing director of GAIL (India) Ltd, the nation’s largest gas company.
- Gupta, who previously was Director (Finance) at Indian Oil Corporation, replaces Manoj Jain, who superannuated on 31st Aug 2022.
- Gupta will have a term till Feb 2026.
- GAIL’s natural gas pipeline network covers 21 states.
10) World Animal Day: 4th October
- World Animal Day is celebrated every year on the 4th of October to raise awareness about improving the welfare standards of animals across the globe.
- This day was selected in honour of the feast of Francis of Assisi, who was regarded as a patron saint of animals.
- This day was first celebrated in 1925 in Germany’s Berlin city by Heinrich Zimmermann.
