DAILY DOSE 3RD MAY CURRENT AFFAIRS
1) Union Bank becomes first to go live on Account Aggregator framework
- Union Bank of India has become the first public sector bank to go live on the Account Aggregator (AA) ecosystem.
- The AA framework ensures swift data sharing with the consent of the user and eliminates the need for physical documents.
- AAs are licensed by the Reserve Bank of India to enable the flow of data between Financial Information Providers (FIPs) and Financial Information Users (FIUS).
2) Ayushman Bharat Diwas: 30 April
- Ayushmaan Bharat Diwas is observed on April 30.
- Ayushman Bharat Yojana is a health scheme that was launched by PM Modi in 2018.
- It reflects the fulfillment of the objectives of the government of India that align with SDGs. (Sustainable Development Goals).
- It intends to provide health cover of Rs 5 lakh per family every year to more than 10.74 crore poor and vulnerable families.
3) Erriyon Knighton becomes the fourth fastest man in 200 meters
- Erriyon Knighton, an American teenager, finished as the fourth fastest man in the 200 meters in April 2022 at the Baton Rouge meet.
- His timing was 19.49 seconds which crossed his own world record in under-20 with a timing of 19.84 seconds in the same competition.
- With this feat, he is now placed just behind the world record holder from Jamaica, Usain Bolt, who clocked a timing of 19.19 sec.
4) Rajiv Ranjan replaces Mridul Saggar in monetary policy committee
- The central board of the RBI has approved the – nomination of Executive Director Rajiv Ranjan as an ex-officio member of the monetary policy committee.
- Ranjan replaces Mridul Saggar.
- Ranjan has been with the central bank for over 33 years and was recently the head of the Department of Economic and Policy Research, a department aligned with the monetary policy and research function of RBI.
5) Parshuram Jayanti: 3 May 2022
- Parshuram Jayanti is being celebrated on May 3, 2022.
- He is the sixth incarnation of Lord Vishnu.
- As per the Hindu rituals, Lord Parshuram is believed to be immortal and the aggressive avatar that prevents the earth from evil powers.
- As per the Kalki Purana, Parashurama is the martial guru of Shri Kalki the 10th and the final avatar of Lord Vishnu.
6) Tarun Kapoor appointed Advisor to PM Narendra Modi
- The government has announced the appointment of retired bureaucrat Tarun Kapoor as Advisor to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
- Kapoor, a 1987 batch officer of the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), retired as Petroleum Secretary in 2021.
- He has earlier served as the Vice-Chairman of Delhi Development Authority (DDA) and as an additional Chief Secretary in the government of Himachal Pradesh.
7) World Laughter Day: 1 May
- World Laughter Day is celebrated on the first Sunday of May every year to spread happiness in the whole world.
- For 2022, it was observed on May 1.
- It was first celebrated on May 10, 1998, in Mumbai, India.
- The day was arranged by Dr. Madan Kataria, founder of the worldwide Laughter Yoga movement.
8) C-DOT and C-DAC sign MoU for cooperation in areas of Telecom and ICT
- Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DOT) and Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC) have signed an MoU at the SemiconIndia 2022 event in Bangalore.
- It has been signed with the objective of working together in the diverse areas of Telecom and Information and Communications Technology to boost indigenous technological design and development.
9) VIL and ICRIER sign MoU to set up policy research centre
- Vodafone Idea has signed an MoU in New Delhi with Indian Council for Research on International Economic Relations (ICRIER).
- It will set up a Telecom Centre of Excellence with the name InVICT (ICRIER and Vodafone Idea Centre for Telecom).
- It will be set up with the objective to facilitate research advisory and policy support for the telecom sector, and contribute to Digital India Mission.
10) Indian Army signs tripartite MoU with SBIF and NIEDO
- Red Shield Division of the Indian Army has entered into a tripartite agreement with State Bank of India Foundation and National Integrity and Educational Development Organization.
- It will establish ‘Red Shield Centre for Excellence and Wellness’ in Manipur’s Bishnupur district.
- The project is expected to be fully functional for the first batch of 50 students by July 2022.

11) First-ever Kerala Olympic Games begin in Thiruvananthapuram
- The first-ever Kerala Olympic Games were inaugurated by state Sports Minister V Abdurahiman at the University Stadium on 30 April 2022.
- State Finance Minister K N Balagopal awarded the lifetime achievement award to boxer Mary Kom.
- As part of the Games, which will be held from May 1 to 10, a 21.1 km-long half marathon will also be held.
12) Hindustan Zinc signs MoU with Sandvik to introduce BEVS
- Hindustan Zinc Ltd (HZL) has signed an MoU with Swedish firm Sandvik AB to introduce battery-powered loaders and trucks in its underground mines.
- The agreement is a part of the company’s plans to invest around USD 1 billion to replace diesel-run vehicles and equipment.
- HZL will introduce Sandvik’s battery electric ‘TH550B’ trucks and ‘LH518B’ loaders in its underground mines.
13) ARAI and Chitkara University sign MoU
- Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI) has tied up with Chitkara University, Punjab have signed an MoU.
- It will offer BE program in Automobile Engineering with a specialization in Electric Vehicles and Hybrid Electric Vehicles.
- ARAI was established in 1966 and is the leading automotive R&D organization in India set up by the Automotive Industry with the Government of India.
14) Chhattisgarh hikes Dearness Allowance (DA) for govt employees
- The Chhattisgarh government announced to hike the Dearness Allowance (DA) for its employees on the occasion of International Labour Day, i.e. May 1, 2022.
- From the existing 17%, it has now been increased to 22%, effective from May 1, 2022.
- In March 2022, the Union Government had approved a 3 percentage point hike each in DA and Dearness Relief (DR) to provide relief from rising prices.
15) PM Modi arrives in Berlin on three-nation Europe visit
- PM Narendra Modi reached Berlin, Germany on the first leg of his official visit to three European nations, on 1 May 2022.
- Modi and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz will co-chair the 6th India-Germany Inter-Governmental Consultations (IGC).
- He will then visit Copenhagen on 3 May 2022, followed by Paris on 4 May 2022.
- He will participate in the 2nd India-Nordic Summit.
16) Researchers discover Earth-like features on Saturn’s moon-Titan
- A team of researchers led by Stanford University geologist Mathieu Lapotre has revealed the presence of landscapes on the surface of Titan, formed due to a global sand cycle driven by seasons.
- Titan is the largest moon on the Saturn system.
- Published in the journal Geophysical Research Letters, the research shows how the season cycle drives the movement of grains over the moon’s surface.
17) Himachal Pradesh government amends Industrial Investment Policy
- The Himachal Pradesh government has made important changes in the State Industrial Policy.
- Enterprises with a minimum fixed capital investment of Rs 200 crore and employing a minimum of 200 bonafide Himachalies would fall under Category A.
- The Sunset clause for providing incentives under the policy has been extended from December 31, 2022, up to December 31, 2025.
18) Sports Minister Anurag Thakur inaugurates 2nd Khelo Masters Games
- Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Anurag Singh Thakur on 30 April 2022 inaugurated the 2nd Khelo Masters Games Delhi-2022 at Tyagraj Stadium in New Delhi.
- Three thousand master players of the age group over 30 to 95 years, from 23 State and Union Territories are participating in eight games.
- The event will culminate on 3rd of May 2022.
19) Sri Lanka extends credit line with India by $200 million for fuel
- Sri Lanka has extended a credit line with India by $200 million in order to procure emergency fuel stocks.
- Four shipments are due to arrive in May 2022.
- Sri Lanka’s overall inflation surged to nearly 30% in April from 18.7% recorded in March 2022.
- Sri Lanka has used $400 million, on multiple shipments in April, of the $500 million credit line extended by India earlier in 2022.
