🟠 Ratle Hydroelectric Project (Jammu & Kashmir)

• Located on Chenab River, Kishtwar District.
• 850 MW run-of-river projectunder construction.
• Developed by Ratle Hydroelectric Power Corporation (RHPCL)– a JV between:
  • NHPC (51%)and JKSPDC (49%).
• Features:
  • 133 m tall & 194.8 m longconcrete gravity dam.
  • Underground powerhousewith:
    • 4 × 205 MW Francis turbines.
    • 1 × 30 MW auxiliary turbine.
  • Expected generation: 3,137 GWh/year.
  • Pakistan opposesproject, citing Indus Waters Treaty (1960).
  • Recently, 5 persons injureddue to landslide at the site.

🔴 Missile Technology Control Regime (MTCR)

• MTCR= Export control regime for missiles and UAVs capable of carrying WMDs.
• Established in 1987by 7 countries (US, UK, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan).
• India joined on 27 June 2016(35th member).
• Covers:
  • Category I: High sensitivity (missiles with ≥500 kg payload & ≥300 km range).
  • Category II: Less sensitive (propulsion, subsystems, software).
• Not legally binding, no enforcement mechanism.
• S. plans reinterpretationto allow export of advanced drones like Reaper.
