DAILY DOSE 3rd  JUNE – 2025 CURRENT AFFAIRS

1) Opal Suchata Chuangsri from Thailand has won Miss World 2025.

  • The grand finale was held at HITEX Exhibition Centre in Hyderabad, Telangana on 31 May.
  • Thailand’s Opal Suchata became first Miss World from her country and created history.
  • Opal Suchata Chuangsri received the title from outgoing Miss World 2024, Krystyna Pyszkova of Czech Republic.
  • In the 72nd edition of global pageant, 108 contestants from around the world competed for the crown.

 

2) World Milk Day 2025: 1 June

  • World Milk Day is celebrated every year on 1 June all over the world.
  • It is observed to mark the contributions of the milk and dairy sector.
  • World Milk Day was established by the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations in 2001.
  • The theme for World Milk Day 2025 is: “Let’s Celebrate the Power of Dairy.”

 

3) BharatGen – India’s first multimodal AI-based LLM for Indian languages ​​launched.     

  • On 2 June, ‘Bharat Gen’, India’s first indigenously developed government-funded AI-based Multimodal Large Language Model (LLM) for Indian languages, launched by Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh.
  • The launch was carried out at the “BharatGen Summit”, which is recognised as India’s largest Generative AI and LLM summit and hackathon.
  • BharatGen has been developed under the National Mission on Interdisciplinary Cyber-Physical Systems (NM-ICPS) and implemented through the TIH Foundation for IoT and IoE at IIT Bombay.
  • It is aimed at transforming AI development by embracing the linguistic and cultural diversity of India.

 

4) India’s first AI Special Economic Zone announced in Nava Raipur.

  • To strengthen India’s position as a global technology hub, the nation’s first Special Economic Zone dedicated to artificial intelligence is being proposed in Nava Raipur, Chhattisgarh.
  • The ₹1,000 crore project will be undertaken by RackBank Datacenters Pvt. Ltd., an Indore-based firm known for its carbon-neutral data centers.
  • The Chhattisgarh government confirmed that the AI SEZ will offer state-of-the-art infrastructure for AI development, research, and large-scale deployment.

 

5) Rajiv Memani took charge as the new CII President for FY 2025-26.

  • Rajiv Memani, Chairman and CEO of EY India, has assumed office as the President of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) for the year 2025–26.
  • His appointment was announced by CII, as he took over the position from Sanjiv Puri, Chairman and MD of ITC Ltd.
  • Memani is a member of the EY Global Executive Board and serves as Chair of its Growth Markets Council.

 

6) Heinrich Klaasen and Glenn Maxwell announced their retirement from International Cricket.

  • South African batter Heinrich Klaasen has announced his retirement from all forms of international cricket with immediate effect.
  • Meanwhile, Glenn Maxwell has retired from One Day Internationals to focus on T20 cricket and the 2026 T20 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka.
  • Klaasen had earlier stepped down from Test cricket in January 2023 and has now also left ODI and T20I formats.

 

7) A review meeting of the world’s largest cooperative food grain storage scheme was held in New Delhi.

  • Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Shri Amit Shah chaired the meeting.
  • Minister of State for Cooperation Shri Krishan Pal Gurjar and Shri Murlidhar Mohol were present in the meeting.
  • The meeting was also attended by officials from the Ministry of Cooperation, Food and Public Distribution, Consumer Affairs, Food Corporation of India (FCI), NABARD, National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC) and other institutions.
  • Amit Shah said called the world’s largest food grain storage scheme a big step towards PM Modi’s vision of “Sahkar Se Samriddhi”.

 

8) A bilateral meeting held between Union Minister of Ports, Shipping & Waterways, Shri Sarbananda Sonowal and Terada Yoshimichi in Oslo, Norway.

  • Terada Yoshimichi is Japan’s Vice Minister for International Affairs, and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport & Tourism.
  • The discussions held during meeting were aimed at improving stronger maritime relations between India and Japan.
  • Key areas of discussions were shipbuilding, port digitization, green port initiatives, maritime training, and the transformation of India’s Andaman & Nicobar and Lakshadweep islands into Smart Islands.

 

9) World Champion Dommaraju Gukesh won over former World No. 1 Magnus Carlsen in ongoing Norway Chess 2025 tournament. 

  • Dommaraju Gukesh won in Round 6 of the ongoing Norway Chess 2025 tournament.
  • This is Gukesh’s first-ever classical win over the Norwegian grandmaster.
  • Gukesh is also the 2nd Indian player to win over Carlsen in the history of the competition after Rameshbabu Praggnanandhaa.

 

10) Serena Williams won Princess of Asturias for sports 2025.

  • Serena Williams is a former tennis player.
  • The award is one of the most respected and admired in Spain.
  • The award is given to those who show excellence in various fields, including sports, arts, literature, and others.
  • The organisers of the event called Serena Williams one of the greatest tennis players in the history of sports.
