  • The Government of Indiahas estimated Kharif food grain production at 173.33 million tonnes for FY 2025–26.
  • These are the First Advance Estimates, released by Union Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan.
  • Rice production:
    • Estimated at over 124 million tonnes.
    • 73 million tonnes higherthan last year’s Kharif rice production.
  • Kharif Coarse Cereals:Estimated production at 41 million tonnes.
  • Kharif Pulses:Projected at 41 million tonnes.
    • Tur (Arhar):~3.60 million tonnes
    • Urad:~1.20 million tonnes
    • Moong:~1.72 million tonnes
  • Sugarcane production:Estimated at 475 million tonnes.
  • Cotton production:Estimated at over 29 million tonnes.

✅   Miscellaneous — Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Bust at UNESCO

  • bust of Dr. B.R. Ambedkarwas unveiled at UNESCO Headquarters, Paris, on Constitution Day (26 November).
  • PM Narendra Modihailed it as a moment of immense pride and a fitting tribute to the architect of the Indian Constitution.
  • The bronze bust is sculpted by Naresh Kumawat.
  • It was inaugurated by Ambassador Vishal V. Sharmain the presence of UNESCO DG Audrey Azoulay.
  • Ambedkar becomes the first Indian leader after Mahatma Gandhito have a statue in the UNESCO Garden of Peace.
  • UNESCO stated the installation reflects its commitment to equality, human rights, and ending caste-based discrimination.
  • Ambassador Sharma highlighted Ambedkar’s advocacy for justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity.
  • This adds to earlier global recognitions at UN HeadquartersBritish Parliament, and Columbia University.
  • The ceremony was organised by the Permanent Delegation of India to UNESCOon Samvidhan Diwas.
  • Constitution Day:Celebrated annually since 2015 to mark the adoption of the Indian Constitution.
  • The Constitution of India, adopted in 1949and enforced on 26 January 1950, defines India as a sovereign, socialist, secular, democratic republic.

 

Cabinet Approves ₹7,280 Cr Scheme for Sintered REPM Manufacturing

Key Highlights

  • The Union Cabinet, chaired by PM Narendra Modi, approved the
    ‘Scheme to Promote Manufacturing of Sintered Rare Earth Permanent Magnets (REPM)’.
  • Total Outlay:₹7,280 crore.
  • Implemented by:Ministry of Heavy Industries (MHI).
  • Production Capacity Target:
    • Establish 6,000 MTPAof integrated REPM manufacturing.
    • Complete value chain: oxides → metals → alloys → finished magnets.
  • Eligibility:Both public & private sector
  • Incentives:
    • ₹6,450 crsales-linked incentives for 5 years.
    • ₹750 crcapital subsidy for setting up facilities.
  • Scheme Duration:7 years from the date of award.

 

Cabinet Approves Pune Metro Phase-2 + Railway Multitracking Projects

A) Pune Metro Rail Project – Phase 2

  • Approved on:26 Nov 2025.
  • Length:636 km (Lines 4 & 4A).
  • Stations:28, all elevated.
  • Cost:₹9,857.85 crore.
  • Timeline:5 years.
  • Implementing Agency:Maha Metro.
  • Funding:GoI + Maharashtra Govt + bilateral/multilateral agencies.
  • Follows earlier approval of Line 2A & 2B.

B) Multitracking Projects Approved by CCEA

  • Total length:224 km.
  • Projects:
    1. 141 km Doubling– Devbhumi Dwarka (Okha) – Kanalus (Gujarat).
    2. 32 kmaddition of 3rd & 4th line – Badlapur–Karjat (Maharashtra).
  • Budget:₹2,781 crore.
  • Benefits:Increased capacity, improved operations & service reliability.

 

 ‘Nayi Chetna 4.0’ Campaign Launched

  • Launched on 25 Nov 2025by Union Ministers Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Annapurna Devi.
  • Organised under:DAY-NRLM, Ministry of Rural Development.
  • Coverage:All 36 States & UTs (till 23 Dec 2025).
  • Led by:Self Help Groups (SHGs).

Aim

  • Promote gender equalitywomen’s safety, and economic empowerment.
  • Raise awareness against Gender-Based Violence (GBV).
  • Encourage safe mobility, shared family responsibilities, and respect for women.
  • Strengthen SHG-led initiatives:
    • Credit access
    • Skill development
    • Promotion of “Lakhpati Didi”

About Lakhpati Didi

  • Helps rural women earn at least ₹1 lakh per yearby improving livelihoods.

B) Maharashtra – POCRA Phase-II

  • Loan:USD 490 million.
  • Tenure:24 years (6-year grace).
  • Focus:Climate-resilient, tech-driven agriculture.
  • Features:
    • Precision farming
    • AI & remote sensing use
    • Improved soil, water, nutrient management
  • Beneficiaries:Over 20 lakh farmers, including 9 lakh women.
  • Background:POCRA (Phase I: 2018–2024) covered 5,220 villages across 16 districts.

 

PPSL (Paytm Payments Services Ltd.) Gets RBI Authorisation as Payment Aggregator

  • COA issued on:26 Nov 2025.
  • Regulator:RBI under the Payment and Settlement Systems Act, 2007.
  • Now Allowed To:
    • Onboard new merchants
    • Process payments
    • Expand digital payment ecosystem

Background

  • RBI had restricted PPSL in Nov 2022due to FDI compliance issues.
  • After meeting norms, PPSL got in-principle approval in Aug 2025, followed by the final license.

What is a Payment Aggregator?

  • Enables merchants to accept digital payments without developing their own payment gateway.
