Deaflympics 2025 – Tokyo, Japan

  • Official name: 25th Summer Deaflympics (XXV Summer Deaflympics).

  • Marks 100 yearssince the first edition (1924).
  • Earlier known as: World Games for the Deaf / International Games for the Deaf.

India’s Achievements

  • Dhanush Srikanth– Gold in men’s air rifle; World Record: 252.2 points; defended his previous title.
  • Mohammed Vania– Silver (250.1 points) in men’s air rifle.
  • Women’s air rifle:

  • Indian Army contingent: Sikh Regiment.

    • Counter-terrorismin semi-urban terrain.
    • Brigade-level mission planning.
    • Integrated tactical drills & simulation.
    • Company-level field exercises.
  • Held biennially since 2011; a major defence engagement.

Export & Import Performance (April–October 2025)

  • Total merchandise + services exports: USD 491.8 billion(+4.8%).
  • Merchandise exports: +0.62%.
  • Merchandise imports: +6.37%→ Total ~USD 570 billion.
  • Non-petroleum exports: USD 219.9 billion(+3.92%).
  • Trade deficit surged to USD 41.68 billion in October(from USD 32.15 bn).
  • Gold imports in October: +199.2%→ major contributor to deficit.
  • October merchandise exports: USD 34.38 bn(-11.8%).
  • October merchandise imports: USD 76.1 bn(+16%).

India Signs One-Year LPG Import Deal with the US

  • Volume: 2 million tonnes annually.
  • Signatories: India’s state-run OMCs – IOC, BPCL, HPCL.
  • Purpose: Diversify LPG supply base& ensure stable, affordable access.
  • Despite a 60% risein global LPG prices, Ujjwala beneficiaries paid only ₹500–550 per cylinder.
  • Govt expenditure last year: ₹40,000+ croreto support households.

  • Labour Force Participation Rate (LFPR): 4%(6-month high).
