  • PM Narendra Modito visit Coimbatore on 19 November to address the South India Natural Farming Summit.

  • Aim: Policy formulation for natural farming, promoting a people-driven movementin agriculture.

₹1,500 crore Modernisation Projects Launched at New Mangalore Port

  • Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowallaunched 20 projects worth ₹1,500 crore during Golden Jubilee of New Mangalore Port Authority.
  • Modernisation + digitalisation led to major capacity increase:
    • Cargo handling rose from 90,000 tonnes → 46 million tonnes.
  • Union Minister Prahlad Joshihighlighted India’s rise as 4th largest global economy.

RBI Fines 3 Co-operative Banks for Regulatory Violations

  1. Mumbai District Central Co-operative Bank (Maharashtra)
  • Penalty: ₹2 lakh
  • Reason: Violation of Section 20(loans to directors/related parties prohibited).
  1. Karaikudi Co-operative Town Bank (Tamil Nadu)
  • Penalty: ₹1.5 lakh
  • Reason: Violation of Capital Adequacy NormsKYC guidelines.
  1. District Co-operative Central Bank, Eluru (Andhra Pradesh)
  • Penalty: ₹50,000
  • Reason: KYC violations(Section 47A(1)(c) + Sections 46(4)(i) & 56).

Key Provisions Involved:

  • Section 20– No lending to directors
  • Section 47A(1)(c)– RBI monetary penalty powers
  • Sections 46(4)(i) & 56– Penalties applicable to co-operative banks

Significance:

  • Highlights need for discipline, transparency, accountability& strict governance in cooperative banking.

National Biodiversity Authority Releases ABS Funds for Red Sanders Conservation (Odisha)

  • NBA released ₹29.40 lakhto Odisha Forest Department under Access and Benefit Sharing (ABS).
  • Funds linked to auction of naturally fallen Red Sanders logsfrom Parlakhemundi Forest Division (over 100-year-old trees).
  • Origin: Logs fell due to 2018 cyclone, auctioned by Odisha Forest Development Corporation.
  • NBA has released over ₹50 croreso far to:
    • Andhra Pradesh Forest Dept
    • Karnataka Forest Dept
    • Andhra Pradesh State Biodiversity Board
  • Additional ABS releases:
    • ₹3 croreto 198 farmers in Andhra Pradesh
    • ₹55 lakhto 18 farmers in Tamil Nadu
  • Odisha becomes 4th stateto receive ABS funds for Red Sanders.
  • Funds used for protection, conservation, sustainable useof biological resources.

 

5. International Tourism

13th International Tourism Mart 2025 – Inaugurated in Gangtok, Sikkim

  • Purpose: Promote tourism potential of Northeast India.
  • Focus on domestic & international tourism promotion, sustainable tourism, and strengthening regional tourism networks.

 

6. Science & Technology

ISRO Successfully Tests Main Parachute System for Gaganyaan Crew Module (UP)

  • Test conducted at Babina Field Firing Range, Jhansi, UPunder Integrated Main Parachute Airdrop Tests (IMAT).
  • Purpose: Validate parachute system for safe astronaut landing.
  • Crew module mass dropped from 5 km altitudeusing IAF IL-76 aircraft.
  • Parachute system: 10 parachutes, 4 types:
    • 2 Apex Cover Separation
    • 2 Drogue
    • 3 Pilot
    • 3 Main parachutes (only 2 neededfor safe landing due to redundancy).
  • Test included:
    • Asymmetric dis-reefing(delayed opening of one main parachute)
    • Reefed inflation → disreefingusing pyro devices
  • Organisations involved:
    • VSSCADRDEDRDOIAFIndian Army
  • In Aug 2025IADT-01validated earlier portions of the system.
