On 5 November 2025, Maharashtra became India’s first stateto partner with Starlink for satellite-based internet services.
Signed a Letter of Intentwith Starlink Satellite Communications Pvt. Ltd.
Part of Digital Maharashtra Missionto improve rural and remote connectivity.
Districts covered: Gadchiroli, Nandurbar, Dharashiv, Washim.
Starlinkplans full commercial launch in early 2026.
Building 9 satellite gateway stationsin India (Mumbai, Noida, Kolkata, Chandigarh, Lucknow, etc.).
Competitors: Jio Satellite, Eutelsat OneWeb.
Currently operates 6,000+ low-Earth orbit satellites
