✅ 7. GST Council Meeting – States’ Compensation Ignored

• 56th GST Council Meeting (Sept 2025)– no discussion on compensation.
• Kerala, Telanganaraised concerns on revenue loss.
• Issues:
  • GST 2.0rate cuts → estimated losses: ₹8,000–10,000 crore (Kerala).
  • States spend 64% but receive less revenue.
  • 20% of Centre’s revenue = cess/surcharge(not shared).
• Way forward:
  • Revisit compensation formula.
  • Limit cess/surcharge use.

✅ 8. Nepal Turmoil: PM Oli Resigns Amid Gen Z Protests

  • 30% on upholstered furniture
