- Indian scientists discovered Allographa effusosoredica in the Western Ghats.
- Found by MACS-Agharkar Research Institute (Pune), under DST.
- It is the first Indian Allographa species confirmed using molecular data.
- Contains rare norstictic acid; its algal partner belongs to Trentepohlia
- Study funded by Anusandhan National Research Foundation.
✅ 2. International Chess Day – July 20
- Celebrated globally on 20 July, marking FIDE’s foundation in 1924.
- Recognized officially by UNGA in 2019.
- Highlights contributions by players like Anand, Praggnanandhan, and Carlsen.
