1) Tripura becomes fourth state to implement E-Cabinet System
- Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha introduced the state’s e-cabinet system, positioning Tripura as the fourth Indian state and the second in the Northeast region to adopt an e-cabinet system.
- The e-cabinet system in Tripura is modelled after the successful implementation in Uttarakhand.
- Digitization would play a pivotal role in strengthening e-governance in Tripura.
2) NITI Aayog organised State Workshop on Women-Led Development in Goa
- The inaugural edition of the Women Entrepreneurship Platform (WEP) – NITI Aayog State Workshop Series on Enabling Women-led Development through Entrepreneurship was organized at CSIR-National Institute of Oceanography (NIO) Auditorium, Goa.
- The workshop was held in collaboration with the Government of Goa with a focus on the western region of the country.
3) World Post Day: 9 October
- World Post Day is celebrated every year on October 9th to mark the anniversary of the Universal Postal Union’s creation in 1874.
- The theme for World Post Day 2023 is “Together for Trust: Collaborating for a Safe and Connected Future.”
- The oldest functioning post office is in the High Street in Sanquhar, Scotland, and has functioned since 1712 AD.
4) Sri Lanka to host IORA Council of Ministers meeting in Colombo
- Sri Lanka will host the pivotal Council of Ministers Meeting of the Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA) on October 11.
- The event will be participated by senior leaders of 16 countries, including External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar.
- Sri Lanka will assume the chairmanship of IORA for the period 2023 to 2025 at the 23rd Council of Ministers’ Meeting to be held in Colombo.
5) Director Vivek Agnihotri launches his latest book in Lucknow
- Vivek Agnihotri, director of ‘The Kashmir Files’, launched his latest book, “The Book of Life: My dance with Buddha for Success.” in Lucknow.
- He also directed a medical drama film ‘The Vaccine War’ in 2023.
- Balram Bhargava is the writer of the book on which the movie is based.
- Bhargava’s book, ‘Going Viral – Making of Covaxin: The Inside Story’, documents his experiences.
6) Air India commissions mega warehouse facility in Delhi
- Air India has commissioned a new warehouse facility in Delhi for storing over 1,000,000 engineering spares.
- The warehouse will improve the turnaround time of Air India.
- The facility is located in the Cargo complex of Delhi Airport’s Air Cargo Logistics division.
- The warehouse is spread across 54,000 sq. ft. and is the first of its kind for any airline in India.
7) EU Approves World’s First Green Bond Standards to Combat Greenwashing
- The European Union has approved new standards for green bonds to help investors choose sustainable companies and avoid misleading claims.
- The voluntary “European Green Bond” label is the first of its kind in the world.
- Europe is the biggest issuer of green bonds, accounting for over half of global volume in 2021.
- Green bond issuance is only 3% to 3.5% of the overall bond market.
8) India to mark 10 Oct as Good Manufacturing Practice Day
- The government along with the Indian Drugs Manufacturers’ Association (IDMA) plans to celebrate the first-ever National Current Good Manufacturing Practice Day (cGMP Day) on 10 October to improve the quality of Indian drugs.
- GMP guidelines have become mandatory for all drugmakers due to incidents of Indian cough syrups causing deaths in importing countries.
9) Google Doodle celebrates Hangul Day dedicated to Korean writing system
- Google Doodle commemorates Hangul Day, a unique celebration dedicated to an alphabet that is Korea’s Hangul writing system.
- Hangul Day is a celebration of Korea’s writing system, which was established in 1446 and has contributed to the country’s high literacy rates.
- Before Hangul, Koreans used Chinese characters that were complex and difficult to master.
10) PATA & India to jointly promote Travel for LiFE in Asia-Pacific region
- The Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) has committed to working with India to expand the Travel for LiFE initiative across the Asia Pacific region.
- India hosted the 46th edition of the PATA Travel Mart in New Delhi, which saw the participation of around 1,000 delegates.
- The Travel Mart is a platform for trade interactions between global buyers and sellers in the tourism sector.
11) Ayodhya to host National Archery Championship in November 2023
- The Senior National Archery Championship will be held in Ayodhya from November 25 to 30.
- The championship will feature individual, team, and mixed team events under Indian, recurve, and compound rounds.
- The competition will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on November 25.
- Union sports minister Anurag Thakur will participate in the closing ceremony.
12) Hansal Mehta’s Scoop wins Best Series at Busan International Film Fest
- Hansal Mehta’s Scoop won two awards at the Asia Contents Awards & Global OTT Awards 2023 in Busan, South Korea.
- The Netflix series won Best Asian TV Series and Best Actress for Karishma Tanna.
- The Asia Contents Awards & Global OTT Awards is a content event of the Busan International Film Festival that awards excellent TV, OTT, and online content across Asia.
13) Indian contingent finishes with record 107 medals
- India exceeded its previous record of 70 medals at the Asian Games in 2018 by winning a total of 107 medals at the Asian Games in China.
- This is the 2nd time India has won more than 100 medals in any of the three major Games, including the Olympics, the Commonwealth Games, and the Asian Games.
- The Indian contingent finished its campaign by living up to the commitment of “Iss baar 100 paar”.
14) India and Saudi Arabia sign MoU in Green Hydrogen & Supply Chain
- India and Saudi Arabia signed an MoU in Electrical Interconnections, Green/Clean Hydrogen, and Supply Chains.
- The MoU aims to establish a framework for cooperation between the two countries in these areas.
- India is taking significant steps to reduce the emission intensity of its GDP by 45% by 2030 and achieve Net Zero by 2070.
