1) Nirmala Sitaraman virtually inaugurated 12 GST Seva Kendra of Gujarat

  • Union FM Nirmala Sitaraman urged businesses to give bills after each purchase to enhance transparency and support nation-building.
  • Inaugurated 12 GST Seva Kendras in Gujarat, highlighting ‘One Nation One Tax’ initiative.
  • Tax rates on essential goods dropped, increasing tax collections.
  • Applauded Gujarat’s GST Seva Kendra initiative, predicting enhancement in state’s GST collection.

 

2) Army Aviation to phase out Cheetah, Chetak helicopters from 2027

  • The Army Aviation Corps is currently operating around 190 Chetak, Cheetah and Cheetal helicopters which were introduced in 1976-1977.
  • Thus the helicopters require immediate modernization.
  • Induction of around 100light utility helicopters (LUH) is planned for replacement.
  • Leasing additional helicopters is also under consideration to meet operational needs.

 

3) NIPCCD organizes training program on ‘Poshan Bhi Padhai Bhi’ in Indore

  • National Institute of Public Cooperation and Child Developmentorganized a two-day State Level Master Trainers Training Programme on ‘Poshan Bhi Padhai Bhi’ from 30-31 October, 2023 at Regional Centre,
  • As many as 29 Participants attended it.
  • The Union Minister for WCD introduced the ‘Poshan Bhi, Padhai Bhi’, scheme to focus on Early Childhood Care and Education at anganwadis.

 

4) Mehuli Ghosh clinches 10m air rifle gold in National Games, Goa

  • On Tuesday, at the Mandrem Ranges, Mehuli demonstrated an impressive display of consistency in her performance.
  • Outputting a total of 633.1 points during the initial qualification round, she managed to top the qualification chart, further cementing her strong start to the competition.
  • She belongs to West Bengal.
  • The 37th National Games is being held at Goa.

 

5) Indian-origin New Jersey Senator Vin Gopal re-elected for 3rd term.

  • Vin Gopal, an Indian-American state Senator, won a third term in New Jersey Senate.
  • He triumphed the election, securing nearly 60% vote and overturning the district’s Assembly seats control.
  • He became the youngest member of the New Jersey State Senate at 38.
  • He is the first South Asian American Senator in New Jersey’s history.

 

6) World Radiography Day: 8th November 2023:

  • The health campaign of World Radiography Day is observed on November 8 worldwide to emphasize on the importance of radiology in healthcare system.
  • The theme chosen for World Radiography Day 2023 is “Celebrating Patient Safety.”
  • This special day commemorates the discovery of x-radiation by Wilhelm Conrad Roentgenin 1895.

 

7) Maharashtra: 1st state in National Games to cross 200 medal tally

  • Maharashtra has so far bagged 203 medals including 70 Gold.
  • Services Sport Control Board also continued its second position in medal tally with a total of 112 medals including 55 Gold medals.
  • While Haryana stood at third position with a total of 145 medals including 50 gold medals.
  • The 37th National Games is being held in Goa.

 

8) Charles delivers first King’s Speech ahead of general election

  • King Charles III delivered his first King’s Speech, outlining PM Rishi Sunak’s plans ahead of the upcoming general elections.
  • Queen Camilla joined him for the ceremonial State Opening of Parliament.
  • It symbolized the independence of the House of Commons through its royal pageantry in the House of Lords.
  • Charles paid tribute to the late Queen Elizabeth II in a speech.

 

9) Sify Infinite Spaces and Jackson Ltd to develop data centres in Noida

  • Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authorityhas allotted two land parcels to Sify Infinite Spaces and Jackson Limited.
  • The plots, both in YEIDA’s Sector 28, are intended for data center development.
  • The investment in these projects is estimated to be Rs 1,757 crore, generating 775 jobs.
  • Jackson Limited & Sify Infinite Spaces were allotted different plots measuring 20,000 sq meters.

 

10) IIHM partners in Najafi 100 Million Learners Global Initiative

  • IIHM signs MoU with Thunderbird and ASU, launching Najafi 100 Million Learners Global Initiative.
  • The initiative provides free online global education in 40 languages to IIHM students.
  • Tremendous opportunity for IIHM students, to emphasize quality global education.
  • Significant step for women learners, comprising 70% of the 100 million worldwide learners.
