1) RBI plan to include PM Vishwakarma Scheme beneficiaries in PIDF Scheme
- The Reserve Bank has proposed to include the beneficiaries of RBI under the Payments Infrastructure Development Fund – PIDF Scheme.
- It is expected to give a fillip to its efforts towards promoting digital transactions at the grassroots level.
- The Reserve Bank has further proposed to extend the PIDF Scheme by a further period of two years, i.e., up to December 31, 2025.

- India makes history after its 100-mark medal tally at the Asian Games 2022, with gold in Women’s Kabaddi.

3) President Murmu to inaugurate International Research Conference
- President Murmu will inaugurate the International Research Conference on Just and Resilient Agri-Food Systems to be organized from 9th to 12th October in New Delhi.
- Indian Council of Agricultural Research and Consultative Group on International Agri-Research Gender Platform are going to host this conference
- It is titled “From Research to Impact- Towards Just and Resilient Agri-food Systems”
4) UP sets target to procure 5.82 lakh metric tonnes of ‘Shree Anna’
- In line with PM Modi’s intention to promote ‘Shree Anna’ across the state, the UP government has raised its procurement target for ‘Shree Anna’ to 5.82 lakh metric tonnes during a three-month period spanning from October to December 2023.
- This procurement plan includes the purchase of up to 5 lakh metric tons of millet, 30,000 tonnes of Jowar, 50,000 tonnes of maize, and 2000 tonnes of Kodo.
5) Aman Sehrawat won bronze medal in men’s 57kg category
- Aman Sehrawat secured a bronze medal for India in the men’s freestyle wrestling 57kg category at Asian Games 2023.
- Sehrawat beat local favorite Liu Minghu by 11-0 in Hangzhou to win the 93rd medal for India at the continental meet this year.
- Aged 16, he became the first Indian wrestler to win a gold medal at the U-23 World Wrestling Championships in Pontevedra, Spain
6) Aditi Swami bags bronze in compound archery women’s individual event
- Indian archer Aditi Gopichand Swami came up with a stellar performance in the women’s compound archery women’s individual event to clinch the bronze medal at the ongoing Asian Games in Hangzhou
- She defeated Indonesia’s Ratih Zilizati Fadhly 146-140 to secure the bronze medal in the compound archery event, bringing India a step closer to taking its medal count in this Asiad past 100.
7) Jyothi Vennam wins gold medal in women’s individual compound archery
- India’s Jyothi Surekha Vennam won gold medal in the women’s individual compound archery event at the Asian Games in Hangzhou, China
- Jyothi defeated So Chaewon of South Korea 149-145 in the final to complete a hattrick of gold medals, having already won titles in the women’s and mixed team events.
8) Nirmala Sitharaman to chair 52nd GST Council meeting in New Delhi
- Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will chair the 52nd GST Council meeting in New Delhi this morning.
- The meeting will be attended by Union Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary, besides Finance Ministers of States and Union Territories and Senior officials from Centre and States.
9) Amit Shah to visit Uttarakhand for Central Regional Council meeting
- Amit Shah will be presiding over the 24th meeting of the Central Regional Council at Narendra Nagar in Tehri district.
- The meeting is likely to be attended by the Chief Ministers of Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Uttarakhand.
- Later on, the Home Minister will also be participating in the 49th All India Police Science Congress
10) BriBooks Announces the Launch of the National Young Authors’ Fair
- BriBooks, the world’s largest creative writing platform for school students has launched the 2023 edition of the National Young Authors’ Fair in India in partnership with Education World.
- The event will witness participation from over 1 million students across 10,000+ schools.
- They will be writing, publishing, and promoting their books on the Al- powered BriBooks platform
11) Prannoy signs off with bronze in men’s singles badminton
- Prannoy scripted a historic feat as he ended India’s 41-year-long wait for a second medal at the Games in men’s singles badminton.
- He went down in straight games against China’s Li Shi Feng in badminton men’s singles semifinal.
- This is India’s third medal in the sport in the 19th edition of the Asiad.
- Syed Modi previously finished third in 1982 edition of the Asian Games.
12) ASI plans to establish gift shops to promote heritage monument
- ASI is planning to establish gift shops in its monuments.
- It will create an opportunity for the cultural and creative industries to work closely with the monuments.
- The ASI intends to leverage souvenirs to generate interest and promotion of heritage monuments.
- It has released an Expression of Interest on its website to enhance interest and recognition of Indian cultural crafts and heritage
13) SC takes note of PIL on Freebies ahead of polls
- The Supreme Court sought a response from the States of Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan on a plea that public funds are being misused to offer irrational freebies ahead of elections.
- A bench comprising Chief Justice D.Y. Chandrachud and Justices J.B. Pardiwala and Manoj Misra also issued notices to the Centre, the Election Commission and the Reserve Bank of India on the PIL
