1) First campus based IT business incubator opens in Bangladesh
- Bangladesh’s first campus based IT business incubator was opened at the Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology on 6 July 2022.
- It has been named ‘Sheikh Kamal IT Business Incubator’ & was inaugurated by PM Sheikh Hasina.
- It has been built over an area of 4.7 acres with a cost of Taka 113 crore.
- It will provide a complete and innovative ecosystem for startups in Bangladesh.
2) Freedom fighter Gandhian P Gopinathan Nair passes away
- Freedom fighter P. Gopinathan Nair passed away in July 2022.
- He was the recipient of Padma Shri Award in 2016.
- He had participated in the Quit India movement in 1942 and had worked along with freedom activist Vinoba Bhave in Bhoodan and Gramdan movement.
- He had served as the president of Gandhi Sevagram Ashram for 11 years.
3) IIT Kharagpur develops new fast-charging Sodium-ion batteries
- IIT Kharagpur researchers have developed Sodium-ion (Na-ion) based batteries and supercapacitors using nano-materials which can be rapidly charged and integrated into e-cycles.
- These sodium materials are cheaper than Lithium (Li)-based materials and can be scaled up to industrial-level production.
- This research was funded by the Department of Science and Technology, Govt of India.
4) Edelweiss General Insurance launches motor insurance product ‘SWITCH’
- Edelweiss General Insurance on 4 July 2022 launched ‘SWITCH’ – India’s first on-demand comprehensive motor insurance product.
- It has been launched under the insurance regulator IRDAI’s Sandbox initiative.
- SWITCH is a fully digital, mobile telematics-based motor policy that detects motion and automatically activates insurance when the vehicle is driven, making it convenient for customers.
5) Western Railways opens its longest skywalk in Mumbai
- The Western Railway’s (WR) longest skywalk from the Khar Road railway station to the nearby Bandra Terminus has been opened for the passengers to reach the platforms to board trains easily.
- The skywalk spans 314 meters long and is 4.4 meters wide.
- The construction of the skywalk was carried out at a cost of around Rs 14 crore.
6) CBSE launches ‘Pariksha Sangam’ portal
- The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) in July 2022 launched its biggest digital initiative for exams – ‘PARIKSHA SANGAM!
- It is a portal that will integrate all the different exam-related processes done by the school, regional offices and CBSE headquarters.
- Apart from this, board exam results can also be viewed through links on this website.

7) Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal announces biggest shopping festival
- Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has announced a 30-day Delhi Shopping Festival which will be organised from January 28 to February 26 (in 2023).
- This will be the biggest shopping festival in India.
- It will boost the city’s economy and help the local businessmen, traders and vendors.
- It will also create huge job opportunities.
8) Indian Air Force father-daughter duo create history
- Indian Air Force fighter pilots Air Commodore Sanjay Sharma and Flying Officer Ananya Sharma have created history by becoming the first father and daughter in the IAF to fly together on a sortie.
- They flew in a formation of British-origin Hawk-132 advanced jet trainers in Karnataka on May 30, 2022.
- Air Commodore Sharma has commanded a Mig-21 Squadron as well as a frontline fighter station.
9) Jayshree Ullal ranked among America’s top self-made woman billionaires
- Jayshree V Ullal, president and CEO of Arista Networks, has been listed on the Forbes list of America’s richest self-made women 2022.
- With a net worth of $1.9 billion, Indian-origin Ullal ranks 15th on the Forbes list.
- Diane Hendricks, co-founder and chairman of ABC Supply, has topped the Forbes list.
10) Mohan Subramanian appointed as Force Commander of UN in South Sudan
- India’s Lieutenant General Mohan Subramanian has been appointed as the Force Commander in the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS).
- UN Secretary-General António Guterres announced the appointment on 5 July 2022.
- Subramanian succeeds Lt General Shailesh Tinaikar of India.
- UNMISS works to facilitate humanitarian aid reaching millions of people in need across South Sudan.
11) Google launches ‘Startup School India’
- Google on 6 July 2022 announced the launch of ‘Startup School India’ as part of the Google for Startups initiative.
- It aims to organise accumulated knowledge into a structured curriculum to enable startups in small cities to overcome various challenges.
- It will be a nine-week virtual programme and will involve chats between Google leaders and collaborators from across the startup ecosystem.
12) PT Usha, Ilaiyaraaja among 4 nominated to Rajya Sabha
- Olympic Sprinter P.T. Usha, music composer Ilaiyaraaja, philanthropist Veerendra Heggade, and screenwriter V. Vijayendra Prasad were nominated to the Rajya Sabha on 6 July 2022.
- All four nominees are from the four southern states of Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, & Andhra Pradesh, respectively.
- They have been nominated in the category of eminent persons nominated by the President of India.
13) NTPC REL signs MoU with GACL
- NTPC Renewable Energy Ltd (REL) on 6 July 2022 signed an MoU with Gujarat Alkalies and Chemicals Ltd. (GACL) to collaborate in setting up India’s 1st commercial-scale Green Ammonia & Green Methanol projects.
- This MoU envisages collaborating in the field of Renewable Energy (RE), Green Methanol & Green Ammonia.
- NTPC REL was incorporated in October ’20 to take care of the RE business of NTPC.
14) MyGov Gujarat- the 18th MyGov State instance launched
- MyGov Gujarat, the 18th MyGov state instance, was launched on 6 July 2022.
- MyGov, the world’s largest citizen engagement platform, was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 26th July 2014.
- MyGov has evolved into a platform that allows citizens to contribute ideas and suggestions and make participative governance a reality.
15) Dr. Rajendra Prasad Memorial Award to be set up
- Union Minister of State Science and Technology Dr Jitendra Singh has announced the setting up of Dr. Rajendra Prasad Memorial Award in public administration.
- It will be given in the field of academic excellence.
- It will be set up in memory of the first President of India who had also laid the foundation stone of the Indian Institute of Public Administration building complex in Delhi.
16) RRU & DroneAcharya sign MoU to set up Remote Pilot Training Centre
- Rashtriya Raksha University (RRU) has signed an MoU with DroneAcharya Ltd. for setting up a Remote Pilot Training Centre in Gandhinagar, Gujarat.
- This centre will be set up for imparting drone flying skills to the Police & security force personnel and citizens at RRU Campus in Gandhinagar.
- It will be set up under the Public-Private Partnership model.
