1) India ranked 48th in ICAO’s international aviation safety ranking 2022
- India ranked 48th position in the global aviation safety ranking released by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) on 5 Dec 2022.
- India’s score in terms of effective implementation of key safety elements has improved to 85.49%, putting it ahead of Chinal (49), Israel (50), and Turkey (54).
- Four years ago, India was in the 102nd position.
- Singapore has topped the chart.
2) 5th European Union-India Competition Week inaugurates on 5 Dec 2022
- The European Union-India Competition Week, the 5th edition, was inaugurated in New Delhi on 5 December 2022.
- The Competition Week is scheduled to be held during 5-7 December 2022.
- This technical cooperation program has provided a platform for dialogue and exchange of good practices between competition authority officials and experts from the EU and India.

3) ‘City of Joy’ author Dominique Lapierre passes away at 91
- The Author of bestselling books “Freedom at Midnight” and “City of Joy” Dominique Lapierre died on 4 Dec’22
- Dominique Lapierre in partnership with USA writer Larry Collins wrote six books that have sold more than 50 million copies worldwide.
- ‘City of joy’ was about the hardships of a rickshaw puller in Kolkata & ‘Freedom at Midnight’ was about the Independence movement in India.

5) Canara Bank wins Banker’s Bank of the Year Award 2022
- Canara Bank won the ‘Banker’s Bank of the Year Award 2022″ for India segment at the Global Banking Summit held in London in December 2022.
- Bank Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer LV Prabhakar received the award from the organisers.
- The Banker’s magazine is a premier global banking and finance resource for more than 180 countries across the world.
6) India to receive $100 billion in remittances in 2022: World Bank
- As per the World Bank report “Migration and Development Brief, India is set to receive $100 billion as remittances in 2022.
- In 2021 India received $89.4 billion in remittances.
- India is the 1st country in the world to receive $100 billion in remittances from migrant workers abroad.
- With a share of 23% of total remittances, the US surpassed the UAE as the top source country in 2020-21.
7) Dr. BR Ambedkar’s 66th death anniversary: 6 December
- India observes 6 Dec as Mahaparinirvan Divas to mark the death anniversary of Dr. BR Ambedkar.
- On 6 Dec 1956, he passed away.
- The day is observed to commemorate his contribution to society.
- BR Ambedkar, the father of the Indian Constitution, was born on April 14, 1891.
- He was also among the 7 members of the drafting committee who prepared a draft of the Constitution of independent India.
