1) Greenko partners IIT Hyderabad to set up school of sustainable science

  • Greenko and IIT Hyderabad have signed an MoU to launch India’s first dedicated school for sustainable science and technology.
  • The ‘Greenko School of Sustainable Science and Technology’ (GSSST) aims to plug the rising research, education, and skills gaps caused by the imperatives of sustainable development.
  • GSSST will induct students for MTech and Ph.D.

 

2) Indian Navy commissions the first ALH Squadron INAS 324

  • Indian Naval Air Squadron 324 was commissioned into the Indian Navy in Visakhapatnam on 04 Jul 2022.
  • This unit is the first Naval Squadron on the Eastern Seaboard operating the indigenously designed and built Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH) MK III helicopters.
  • INAS 324 squadron has been named ‘Kestrels, after a bird species that has good sensory capabilities.

 

3) Jitendra Singh inaugurates Autonomous Navigation Facility ‘TİHAN’

  • Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh inaugurated India’s first Autonomous Navigation facility, TIHAN at the IIT Hyderabad campus on 4 July 2022.
  • TIHAN (Technology Innovation Hub on Autonomous Navigation) has been developed by the Union Ministry of Science & Technology.
  • It is a multidisciplinary initiative which aims to make India a global player in futuristic ‘Smart Mobility’ technology.

 

4) RBI imposes penalty on Kotak Mahindra Bank & IndusInd Bank

  • Reserve Bank of India on 4 July 2022 imposed penalties on Kotak Mahindra Bank & IndusInd Bank for deficiencies in regulatory compliance.
  • A penalty of Rs 1.05 crore has been imposed on Kotak Mahindra Bank for contravention of certain norms.
  • A penalty of Rs 1 crore has been imposed on IndusInd Bank for non-compliance with certain Know Your Customer (KYC) norms.

5) COE-SURVEI develops software to detect encroachments on defence land

  • Centre of Excellence on Satellite & Unmanned Remote Vehicle Initiative (COE-SURVEI) has developed an Artificial Intelligence-based software in collaboration with Bhabha Atomic Research Centre.
  • This software can automatically detect change on the ground, including unauthorised constructions & encroachments in a time series using Satellite Imagery.
  • The COE-SURVEI was inaugurated in 2016.

 

6) UK Parliament honours Tanuja Nesari with Ayurveda Ratna award

  • Tanuja Nesari, Director of All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) has been conferred with the ‘Ayurveda Ratna Award’ by the UK Parliament.
  • Dr Nesari has been honoured for her exceptional service of the highest order for the promotion of Ayurveda.
  • The UK’s All-Party Parliamentary Group on Indian Traditional Sciences (ITSappg) conferred this award on Dr Nesari.

 

7) Piyush Goyal releases ‘States’ Start-up Ranking 2021′

  • Union Minister Piyush Goyal on 4 July 2022 released the results of the third edition of Ranking of States’ Exercise on Support to Startup Ecosystems in New Delhi.
  • Gujarat and Karnataka emerged as the “best performers” while Meghalaya bagged the top honour among Northeastern (NE) states.
  • Among smaller states and UTS, Jammu and Kashmir was adjudged the top performer.

 

8) Conference on Food and Nutrition Security in India to be held on Jul 5

  • The Dept of Food and Public Distribution will organize a National Conference on Food and Nutrition Security in India on 5 Jul’22 in New Delhi.
  • It is aimed at facilitating cross learning, disseminating best practices for schemes under Public Distribution System and strengthening the focus on nutritional security.
  • Consumer Affairs Minister Piyush Goyal will address the one-day conference.

 

9) IRDAI and NHA to develop National Health Claims Exchange

  • Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority (IRDAI) & National Health Authority (NHA) have decided to develop a National Health Claims Exchange.
  • It will be developed as a digital platform to settle health claims across the country.
  • IRDAI Chairman Debasish Panda has proposed the creation of a working group with representation from the industry to utilise this exchange.

10) Swami Vivekananda’s death anniversary: 4 July

  • 4 July marks the death anniversary of Swami Vivekananda.
  • He was a philosopher who introduced ideals of ‘Vedanta’ and ‘Yoga’ to the western world.
  • He passed away on 4 July 1902 at an early age of 39 years.
  • He was born in Calcutta on 12 January 1863.
  • He founded the Ramakrishna Mission at Belur Math by the river Ganga.
  • He was the chief disciple of the Indian mystic Ramakrishna.

 

11) Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi inaugurates Fifth Global Film Tourism Conclave

  • Union Minister for Minority Affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi inaugurated the fifth Global Film Tourism Conclave (GFTC) in Mumbai on 1 July 2022.
  • PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI) has organised the fifth GFTC.
  • It has been organised with the Ministry of Tourism & Ministry of Information & Broadcasting.
  • The theme for 5th edition of GFTC is ‘Unleashing the Power of Cinematic Tourism’

 

12) NCRTC partners DB India to operate RRTS corridor

  • The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) on 1 July 2022 signed an agreement with Deutsche Bank (DB) India.
  • Under this agreement, DB India will operate and maintain the 82-km-long Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) corridor for a period of 12 years.
  • This corridor is the country’s first Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) corridor.

 

13) Veteran Bengali filmmaker Tarun Majumdar passes away

  • Veteran film director Tarun Majumdar passed away in July 2022.
  • Notable among his works are Balika Badhu (1976), Kuheli (1971), Shriman Prithviraj (1972) and Dadar Kirti (1980).
  • He’s the recipient of four National Awards, seven BFJA Awards, five Filmfare Awards and an Anandalok Award.
  • The Government of India honoured him with the fourth highest civilian award, Padma Shri, in 1990.

 

14) Sini Shetty wins Miss India 2022

  • Sini Shetty was declared the winner of the Femina Miss India 2022 title.
  • The event took place at the Jio World Convention Centre on 3 July 2022.
  • Rubal Shekhawat, from Rajasthan was crowned Femina Miss India 2022 1st Runner Up.
  • Shinata Chauhan, from Uttar Pradesh was crowned Femina Miss India 2022 2nd Runner Up.

 

15) Indian Army organises ‘Suraksha Manthan – 2022’

  • The Desert Corps of the Indian Army organised the “Suraksha Manthan 2022” at Jodhpur, Rajasthan on 1 July 2022.
  • It was organised on the aspects of Border & Coastal Security.
  • It was jointly presided over by Pankaj Singh, Director General Border Security Force (BSF), VS Pathania, Director General Indian Coast Guard and Rakesh Kapoor, General Officer Commanding Desert Corps.
