1) NHA felicitates 1,000 doctors for work under PM-JAY

  • The National Health Authority (NHA) felicitated around 1,000 doctors for their work under the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri-Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PM-JAY) scheme, in July 2022.
  • It also announced Ayushman Bharat Utkrist Chikitsak Samman, Ayushman Bharat Utkrist Chikitsalaya Samman, and Ayushman Bharat PM-JAY Fellowship.
  • All these awards will be conferred in September 2022.

 

2) NTPC Renewable Energy Limited signs MoU with Rajasthan government

  • NTPC Renewable Energy Limited (NTPC REL) has signed an MoU with Government of Rajasthan for development of 10 GW Ultra Mega Renewable Energy Power Park in Rajasthan.
  • NTPC Group has set its target of 60 GW renewable energy capacity by 2032.
  • Additionally, NTPC REL has entered into a Joint Venture Agreement with DVC for developing RE Parks and projects.

 

3) International Plastic Bag Free Day: 3 July

  • Every year, July 3 is observed as the ‘International Plastic Bag Free Day.’
  • It is observed to encourage people to use natural and eco-friendly alternatives to plastic bags and other items.
  • The first International Plastic Bag Free Day was observed on July 3, 2008, when Rezero, a member of Zero Waste Europe (ZWE), initiated it.
  • Zero Waste Europe Headquarters – Brussels, Belgium

 

4) International Day of Cooperatives: 2 July

  • International Day of Cooperatives is marked annually on the first Saturday of July.
  • For 2022, the day was observed on 2 July.
  • The theme for 2022 is ‘Cooperatives Build a Better World’
  • The day is being marked by cooperatives worldwide since 1923 and was officially proclaimed by the United Nations General Assembly on the centenary of the ICA (International Cooperative Alliance) in 1995.

 

5) Carlos Sainz wins British F1 Grand Prix

  • Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz won his career’s first Formula One race on 3 July 2022 with a victory at the British Grand Prix.
  • Red Bull’s Sergio Perez and Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton finished second and third respectively.
  • Championship leader Max Verstappen finished seventh.
  • Sainz has moved up to the fourth position in the 2022 Driver standings.

 

6) Himachal Pradesh CM launches ‘Naari Ko Naman’ scheme

  • Himachal Pradesh CM Jai Ram Thakur on 30 June 2022 launched the ‘Naari Ko Naman’ scheme in Dharamshala.
  • Under this scheme, the Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) will charge women travellers only half the fare for their travel within the state.
  • Thakur also announced a reduction in the minimum bus fare from Rs 7 to Rs 5 for all passengers across the state.

 

7) Visionary British theatre director Peter Brook passes away

  • Peter Brook, one of the world’s most innovative theatre directors, passed away on 3 July 2022.
  • He was best known for his 1985 masterpiece “The Mahabharata”
  • In 2021, he was awarded India’s fourth-highest civilian honour, the Padma Shri, for his valuable contributions towards art.
  • He also won a Tony Award in 1970 for the production of Shakespeare’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream.”

 

8) IGSS Ventures signs MoU with Tamil Nadu government

  • Singapore-based IGSS Ventures, a leading player in the semiconductor technology space, has signed an agreement with the Tamil Nadu Government for establishing a semiconductor park.
  • It was signed in the presence of Tamil Nadu. CM MK Stalin in Chennai on 1 July 2022.
  • This industrial park will be established on a 300-acre land, with an investment commitment of 25,600 crore rupees in five years.

 

9) Jasprit Bumrah creates world record for scoring most runs

  • Jasprit Bumrah on 2 July 2022 smashed the most number of runs in an over in a Test cricket match.
  • He achieved this record during the fifth and final Test against England at Edgbaston in Birmingham.
  • With this, he has surpassed legendary West Indies batter Brian Lara, who hit South Africa’s Robin Peterson for 28 in an over in 2003.

 

10) India, European Union conclude first round of trade negotiations

  • India and the European Union concluded the first round of negotiations for India-EU Trade and Investment Agreements in New Delhi on 1 July 2022.
  • 52 technical sessions covering 18 policy areas of the free trade agreement and seven sessions on Investment Protection and Geographical Indicators were held.
  • The second round of negotiations is scheduled to take place in September 2023 in Brussels.

 

11) MSDE launches DBT scheme to extend direct monetary support

  • The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship has announced that National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme will be a part of Direct Beneficiary Transfer (DBT) scheme.
  • Earlier companies used to pay apprentices the entire amount and then seek reimbursement from the govt.
  • With the launch of the DBT scheme, the govt will directly transfer its contribution to bank accounts of apprentices.

 

12) Parul Chaudhary breaks 6-year-old 3000m National Record

  • Indian runner Parul Chaudhary on 2 July 2022 broke the women’s 3000m national record at the Sound Running meet in Los Angeles.
  • She covered the distance at 8:5719 to finish third.
  • She broke the six-year-old national record set by Suriya Loganathan (9:04.5) in April 2016.
  • She has become the first athlete from India to clock a sub-nine-minute time in the women’s 3000m event.

 

13) ReNew partners with UNEP & SEWA to launch ‘Project Surya’

  • ReNew Power in partnership with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and Self-Employed Women’s Association of India (SEWA), has launched ‘Project Surya!
  • Under this programme, 1000 low-income women salt pan workers will be trained as solar panel & solar pump technicians at Dhokavada village in the Patan district of Gujarat.
  • It will be supported by National Skill Development Corp.

 

14) PM Modi to inaugurate Digital India Week 2022 in Gandhinagar

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate Digital India Week 2022 in Gandhinagar in Gujarat on 4 July 2022.
  • During the programme, he will launch multiple digital initiatives aimed at enhancing the accessibility of technology, streamlining service delivery to ensure ease of living and giving a boost to startups.
  • The theme for Digital India Week is Catalyzing New India’s Techade.

 

15) Govt revamps Banks Board into Financial Services Institutions Bureau

  • The government has approved the resolution. for establishing the Financial Services Institutions Bureau (FSIB) in place of the Banks Board Bureau (BBB).
  • The FSIB will now select the chiefs of public sector banks & insurance companies.
  • Bhanu Pratap Sharma, former Chairman, BBB, has been appointed as the initial Chairperson of FSIB for a term of 2 years.
  • The BBB was originally set up in 2016.

 

16) NTPC recognized as the ‘Most Preferred Workplace’ of 2022

  • NTPC has been recognized as one of the “Most Preferred Workplaces of 2022”
  • It was recognized in the premier edition of “Most Preferred Workplaces 2022” organized by Team Marksmen in association with India Today on 1 July 2022.
  • The award showcases and celebrates organizations which have managed to maximize employee wellbeing, engagement and productivity alongside organizational performance.

 

17) Ashok Soota conferred with CII Quality Ratna Award 2021

  • Ashok Soota, founder and Executive Chairman of Happiest Minds Technologies, has been. conferred with CII Quality Ratna Award 2021.
  • This award is given annually in recognition of outstanding leadership, contribution, and distinguished service to the Quality Movement in India.
  • It was constituted in the year 2019.

18) Centre amends Foreign Contribution Regulation Act

  • Union Home Ministry has amended the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act.
  • The amended rule now allows relatives to send 10 lakh rupees without informing the government.
  • If the amount exceeds, the individuals will now have three months to inform the government against 30-days earlier.
  • The rule also gives more time to the organisations to inform the government about opening of bank accounts.
