1) Henry Kissinger, American diplomat and Nobel winner, dead at 100
- Henry Kissinger, a diplomatic powerhouse had played role as a national security adviser and secretary of state under two presidents.
- Heleft an indelible mark on U.S. foreign policy and earned him a controversial Nobel Peace Prize.
- He died at age 100.
- He is known to be the person who had engineered the downfall of USSR, the then world superpower.
2) Centre launched first-ever auction of critical mineral blocks
- Union Minister for Mines Pralhad Joshi has launched the first-ever tranche auction of critical mineral blocks at a function in New Delhi.
- Twenty blocks of critical and strategic minerals are being auctioned in the first tranche.
- The blocks include Graphite, Lithium, Molybednum, nickel, Copper and Potash.
- It will deliver a boost to economy and will support its transition towards clean energy
3) UP Budget 2023-24: Power sector, Ayodhya project got lion’s share
- The Uttar Pradesh government presented its first budget of ₹28,760.67 crore for 2023-24.
- The budget includes ₹10,000 crore for the power sector and ₹900 crore for free electricity to farmers’ tubewells.
- Ayodhya projects receive boost with nearly ₹170 crore for temple renovations.
- Allocations also made for power distribution infrastructure, Ganga Expressway project, Metro Rail projects.
4) ICGS Sajag arrived Muscat, Oman for overseas deployment to West Asia
- Indian Coast Guard Ship Sajagarrived at Port Sultan Qaboos, Muscat, for a three-day visit to strengthen maritime ties with the Royal Oman Police Coast Guard.
- The visit includes onboard training, search and rescue exercises, meetings with Omani officials.
- ICGS Sajag’s visit promotes India’s maritime vision, “SAGAR- Security and Growth for All in the Region,” championed by PM Narendra Modi.
5) Cabinet approved continuation of scheme for Fast Track Courts
- FTSCs, designed as dedicated courts, are expected to ensureswift dispensation of justice, offering quick relief to victims while strengthening the deterrence framework for sexual offenders.
- Implemented by theDepartment of Justice, Ministry of Law & Justice, FTSCs augments State Government for establishing FTSCs ensuring the swift disposal of cases related to rape and the POCSO Act.
6) Nepal:1st South Asian country to officially register same sex marriage
- Nepal registered its first same-sex marriage, becoming the first South Asian country to do so after the Supreme Court’s legalization.
- Trans-woman Maya Gurung and gay man Surendra Pandey were legally married in Lamjung district.
- Nepal’s Supreme Court approved same-sex marriage in 2007, with its 2015 constitution forbidding discrimination based on sexual orientation.
7) GoI addressed Climate Action Measures at India Global Forum in Dubai
- Minister of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change, Bhupender Singh Yadav, delivered a comprehensive address at the India Global Forum in Dubai.
- Minister Yadav outlined India’s commitment to climate action, emphasising the country’s achievements and future endeavors in alignment with global goals.
- Minister Yadav underscored the need for collaborative efforts to bring about climate action.
8) Amrit Brikshya Andolan: Assam govt received 9 Guinness World Records
- Assam‘s Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma received Guinness World Record certificatesfor Amrit Brikshya Andolan, an initiative planting over 1 crore seedlings in a day.
- The campaign achieved 9 records in various categories including Longest Line of Potted Saplings & Most Trees Planted by a Team in 24 Hours.
- Participative model involved Self-Help groups, ASHA, Anganwadi workers, and more.
9) GoI and Government of Manipur signed a Peace Agreement with UNLF
- United National Liberation Front(UNLF) is Manipur’s oldest valley-based armed group.
- This agreement with UNLF aims to usher a new era of peace in North East India, particularly in Manipur.
- Union Home Minister, Shri Amit Shah, has highlighted the agreement as a step towards realizing PM Narendra Modi’s vision of inclusive development and prosperity for Northeast India’s youth.
10) Rural Marketing Association of India appoints Puneet Vidyarthi as Prez
- Rural Marketing Association of India(RMAI), the premier body of rural marketers in India said it has appointed Puneet Vidyarthi as its president for 2023-2025
- He is taking over from Biswabaran Chakrabarti.
- Puneet Vidyarthi is head of marketing, business development at CASE New Holland, a construction equipment business.
11) Cabinet approved Pradhan Mantri Janjati Adivasi Nyaya Maha Abhiyan
- The Cabinet has approved Pradhan Mantri Janjati Adivasi Nyaya Maha Abhiyan(PM JANMAN).
- The PM-JANMAN comprises Central Sector and Centrally Sponsored Schemes
- It aims to focus on 11 critical interventions through 9 Ministries for PVTG household and habitation development with basic facilities such as safe housing, clean drinking water and sanitation, improved access to education, health etc.
12) Day of Remembrance for all Victims of Chemical Warfare: 30th November
- THis day honors chemical war victims and emphasizes chemical usage eradication efforts.
- The journey to mitigate chemical warfare began in 1675 with a treaty banning poison bullets.
- Subsequent efforts led to the 1993 Chemical Weapons Convention.
- The United Nations declared this day in 2005to honor victims, raise awareness about chemical weapons, and emphasize peace and security.
13) Bengaluru Tech Summit 2023 took off with ‘Breaking Boundaries’ theme
- The 26th Bengaluru Tech Summithas drawn global attendees from over 30 countries, was inaugurated, themed ‘Breaking Boundaries.’
- Organized by Karnataka’s Department of IT and Biotechnology, it features a multi-track conference, international exhibition, B2B meetings, and awards.
- It offered startups a platform to interact with giants like Infosys, Bosch, and Microsoft Startup.
14) Abdullahi Mire won U.N. Nansen award for educating displaced children
- Abdullahi Mire, a former Somali refugee intent on bringing books and education to his compatriots in camps in Kenya was named the winner of the UN refugee agency’s prestigious Nansen Award.
- Mire was born in Somalia, but amid unrest there his family fled to Kenya.
- He spent 23 years in Dadaab, a complex of three camps that were initially built in the 1990s to host some 90,000 refugees.
