1) Know About: National Youth Festival
- The National Youth day is also referred to as Swami Vivekanand Jayanti.
- It was designated as the National Youth Day in 1984.
- Swami Vivekananda is considered a key figure in the introduction of the Indian philosophies of Vedanta and Yoga to the western world.
- The National Youth Day is observed every year on 12 January to mark the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda.
2) Arunachal becomes first state to ‘humanise’ its prisons
- Arunachal Pradesh is the largest of the Seven Sister States of Northeast India by area.
- The main tribes of the state are Adi, Nyshi, Singpho, Galo, Tagin, Apatani.

3) Sahitya Akademi Awards 2022: 1
- The Sahitya Akademi announced the winners of Sahitya Akademi Awards 2022 in 24 Indian languages(including English) on 22 Dec’22.
- Novelist Anuradha Roy, Tamil author M. Rajendran were among 23 litterateurs awarded the Sahitya Akademi Awards for 2022.
- The winners include 7 books of poetry, 6 novel, 2 short stories, 3 dramas/plays, 2 literary criticism and 1 each under autobiographical essays.

- The award has been given by the union govt for the best literature of every year.

- Writer M. Rajendran from Tamil Nadu was awarded for his novel ‘Kala Pani!

5) PV Sindhu among top 25 highest-paid female athletes in Forbes’ list
- India’s badminton star PV Sindhu is the only Indian sportsperson to feature in the top 25 of Forbes’ annual list of the world’s highest-paid female athletes.
- She is ranked 12th on the list.
- For the third year in a row, Osaka topped Forbes’ annual list of the world’s highest-paid female athletes.
- She won the singles gold and doubles silver at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham in 2022.
6) Union Minister Piyush Goyal unveils ‘right to repair’ portal
- Union Minister Piyush Goyal launched the Right to Repair portal in New Delhi on 24 December 2022.
- On the portal, manufacturers will share the manual of product details with customers so that they can either repair by self, by third parties.
- In July 2022, the Department of Consumer Affairs had set up a committee headed by Nidhi Khare to develop a comprehensive framework on ‘Right to Repair!
7) Union Min Jitendra Singh launched revamped probity portal ‘e-HRMS 2.0’
- Union Minister of State Science & Technology Dr Jitendra Singh has launched a revamped Probity Portal, e-HRMS 2.0 Portal on 25 December 2022.
- He also launched an e-Books on major Initiatives/Achievements of the Ministry of Personnel, PG & Pensions.
- The Revamped Probity Portal was launched for central government employees in 2017.
- It provided limited HR-related services to the employees.
8) Good Governance Day: 25 December
- Every year 25 December is observed as Good Governance Day to mark the birth anniversary of the 10th Prime Minister of India Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
- It is observed to increase public access to government programs and services via good governance.
- It was established with the slogan “Good Governance through e-Governance.”
- It was started in 2014 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
9) Pushpa Dahal ‘Prachanda’ appointed Nepal’s new Prime Minister
- President Bidya Devi Bhandari of Nepal appointed Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ as the new prime minister of Nepal on 25 December 2022.
- He will become the prime minister for the third time.
- He has formed a coalition government with the support of other parties.
- He will replace Sher Bahadur Deuba of the Nepali Congress party as the PM.
- The parliament of Nepal is called Sanghiya Sansad.

12) IMF decreases FY23 India’s GDP growth forecast to 6.8%
- The International Monetary Fund (IMF) reduced India’s growth prediction for FY 23 from 7.4% forecasted in July to 6.8%.
- India’s growth projection for FY23 has undergone three decreases, starting from 9% in January of this year.
- According to the World Economic Outlook (WEO), which was published in Washington, DC, India’s growth is predicted to further decelerate in FY 24, reaching 6.1%.
